Stupid mistake killing off Mark Fowler. He was a great character, and it gives the impression that you always die when you’re HIV Positive (or that’s the criticism I read). The show is lacking characters that have got a long history with the show. But he did die off-screen so you never know...

On a serious Note I take it the Todd Carty rode Straight home from there outside the Vic with all the actors on the Elstree Studio set and Straight out on the Road home to where ever he lived

I think Mark should have stayed on EE permanently. I can imagine Mark being one of the dominant characters on EE to this day 2020.
Chi Javier there were times that I would’ve loved to have seen Mark such as fighting his mums new partner Joe Macer or when Nick returned in 2008/9 with Dotty and then having his own problems with her too.
He actually could have been a real mentor to Zack with what he’s currently going through. But I can also see Martin being that too using Mark’s story as inspiration.
Poor Mark, they were always awful to his characters around him that brought him down
That scene was at the end with the Julia’s theme going on looked like the 70s there…

Wendy Richard's who played Pauline Fowler did say along the lines in Eastenders Revealed , Mark Fowler's Story , That no parent should outlive their Children , and Pauline have to come to terms with that, and she did

Not entirely true some of the iconic characters came and went.
Take popular characters like Peggy, Sharon, Dot, Ian or Kat for example. They’ve all left and came back again at some point.
Whereas minor characters like the Steve Owen, Beppe Di Marco, Andy Hunter, Johnny Allen and Michael Moon all killed off or left and never came back.
It is partly down to ratings and casting choices. That and what each actor who played the role chooses.
Actors are people with careers and lives to lead at the end of the day. They don’t just exist to keep playing one role or have their lives revolve around their careers 24/7.
For people to think any different is just very ignorant, selfish and short sighted.
