I am biracial (half black and half white, like Meghan) When she made the claims of racism, then gave the explanation for it, I couldn’t understand what the “racist” statement was. My mothers side is all white, and has never had another mixed or black person in their family other than me. That is the same case as the royal family. When that happens, you are bound to hear an ignorant comment or two, not coming from a hateful, racist perspective, but from GENUINE curiosity. Could that sound ignorant and disrespectful if you take that out of context? Yes. But at the end of the day my family has NEVER made me feel like an outcast or not loved because of my skin color. Have you heard of Wallis' letters that she wrote to her ex-husband stating her reluctance to continue a relationship with the King or marry him? She even told her ex-husband that she wanted to end the relationship but the King said he wouldn't want to live without her. So, it's quite possible that she befriended the King to gain entry into his social circle but, unlike Meghan, didn't have plans on marrying him.

To me, after having read books about the Windsors and watched documentaries, most recently the excellent "Edward VIII: Britain's Traitor King," the one clear and almost spooky similarity between the Windsors and the Sussexes is between Harry and his great-uncle Edward. The two of them share so many of the same character flaws that it seems like it's in their DNA.
Wallace never struck me as the nicest person in the world, but I never thought she really deserved the corner she was forced into. Some other differences between the Windsors and Megs/Harry include: The Duke of Windsor pushed the relationship - Wallace was very reluctant - unlike Meghan who aggressively ensnared a willing Harry; The Duke and Wallace lived in the Bahamas for five years during WW2 where he was the Governor and by all accounts they both worked very hard there and were respected . And also, when the Windsors gave interviews (and they gave many), they never criticized the concept of the Monarchy (or the family as you pointed out). All four players had monstrous egos however and pushed people around and were not well liked except for a handful of sycophants. Thanks for your most interesting review. I’ve been thinking about the “if onlys” which are no use ever going over, but the first one is “if only” they hadn’t been given permission to marry. 1 Harry would have thrown a fit and still caused trouble. 2 Harry and M would have called in the media to spread their victim story, loud and long. 3 Queen Elizabeth would have looked very bad. M was divorced but Charles and Camilla had set the precedent. The only reason the public would have seen was racism. The public did not know M as much as the RF had got to know her, and didn’t like her, so it would have been personal. There was no way out for the Queen! No choice! She couldn’t forbid a marriage because of personal characteristics, she had no idea how bad M really was!! If only! 🤷♀️
Wow! This is good! I have my "if only" moments too but they hang on the notion that H&M would be decent people... IF ONLY MM had been patient enough to bide her time and had stood by the royal family and learn their ways, what opportunities would have opened up for her. But of course knowing her character, that was asking the impossible. IF ONLY Harry had enough sense to listen to his brother and family, and waited just a bit longer... he might have seen for himself what MM's true nature was. But of course, Harry never had any good sense and had his brains even more addled now by his drug habit, as he's literally living in drug haven. Yeah, totally wishful thinking.
They should not have been given the BIG WHITE wedding! As Meghan was a divorcee, they should have been told, NO: a quiet family wedding, as The King himself had, as a divorcee. The Queen did not attend King Charles' second wedding - as a mark of respect to her role as the Head of the Church of England, which, until recently, would not marry divorcees. King Charles had a registry office wedding, followed by a church blessing. That set the ball rolling for their/her entitlement!

The former sent the wrong message to H&M - that they were almost equal to W&C, They weren't and would never be; so best that they accept that sooner rather than later. QEII should not have been bent her rule wrt the family Sandringham Christmas. As with Catherine, M should have had to wait until married to get that invite. Charles should have been less generous wrt to paying for M's wedding attire and pre-wedding wardrobe (H has said the he and M paid for the latter, but I don't believe him). And after the Peter Phillip's wedding fiasco, BP should have been on guard for possible stunts by North American brides. The was no Duke of Edinburgh promise when they married. Sophie had her own business that she intended to continue and Edward wasn't a working royal. He became one a couple years later and Sophie ran into difficulties with BP and running her business. --- btw The CoE changed its stance on divorcee marriages in 2002 - iow before Charles and Camilla married. Most likely for PR purposes (possibly a reflection of QEII's conservatism), C&C had settleed for halfway, a registry marriage followed by a church blessing. QEII did attend the blessing and reception. Overall imo, a reasonable compromise. Made more acceptable because C&C looked very nice and were clearly very happy. The RF got this one right. As they did William and Catherine's.

I am biracial (half black and half white, like Meghan) When she made the claims of racism, then gave the explanation for it, I couldn’t understand what the “racist” statement was. My mothers side is all white, and has never had another mixed or black person in their family other than me. That is the same case as the royal family. When that happens, you are bound to hear an ignorant comment or two, not coming from a hateful, racist perspective, but from GENUINE curiosity. Could that sound ignorant and disrespectful if you take that out of context? Yes. But at the end of the day my family has NEVER made me feel like an outcast or not loved because of my skin color. She should understand since her father is white, that not ever white person is going to know how to ask those kinds of questions. She should understand that. That is when I lost all respect for her, and her husband for throwing his family under the bus, and now has the balls to walk back that horrific claim. Disgusting, both of them.

My mother's family was Sicilian and wanted a brown eyed, olive skinned baby. The rest of us were looked down on a bit because we were very celtic looking - very fair with light eyes and no features like her side of the family. It is what it is. No one meant to be cruel.

Have you heard of Wallis' letters that she wrote to her ex-husband stating her reluctance to continue a relationship with the King or marry him? She even told her ex-husband that she wanted to end the relationship but the King said he wouldn't want to live without her. So, it's quite possible that she befriended the King to gain entry into his social circle but, unlike Meghan, didn't have plans on marrying him.

Apart from dumping on the family in a really horrendous way, H has shown in 'Spare' that he will be indiscrete (mushrooms at Courtney Cox's any one?). True A listers and very wealthy people are careful about who they surround themselves with because they do not want their private lives leaked. If you cannot be trusted, you will not be invited.
In regards to the wedding, I actually lost respect for the Clooneys for them turning up. I get that it is a royal wedding but they were not just invited to the wedding but the reception unlike some very long term close friends of H's eg the Inskips. I would have gone for the pomp and ceremony and I didn't care for Hawwy(Nazi uniform, naked in Vegas) and I'd never heard of her. I'm American and she was never a blip on the entertainment shows.

They would have retained a level of respect if they hadn't done the Oprah interview and everything sine then. If they had just focused on projects, and positive energies without courting the media in the self-aggrandizing way they have and periodically show up at Royal events to support the family would literally have given them everything they wanted. Public adoration and respect, brand collaboration deals, creative freedom, A-list networking, invites to parties, and endless royal clout... but no.
They just couldn't do it, as their resentment and jealousy of Princess Catherine & Prince William was eating at their souls! They truly believed they could destroy them by accusing the RF of "racism" in the middle of the George Floyd s#!+$+@rm happening in the U.S.! They knew the drama it would cause for the family if they even hinted that she was mistreated bc she's mixed, and they went there with intent on causing maximum damage to the reputation of the Monarchy!! Meghan then had her paid trolls targeting Kate on Twitter, causing as much hatred as possible.
It was all about resentment and jealousy from the beginning. More people are seeing that now....

I completely agree with the notion that a newly married couple needs time alone, away from both of their families to figure out how they will go forward as a couple, instead of two individuals. That being said, they f'ed up their lives in every way possible: trust, family, career, image. These two just need to stfu for 10 years.

To me, after having read books about the Windsors and watched documentaries, most recently the excellent "Edward VIII: Britain's Traitor King," the one clear and almost spooky similarity between the Windsors and the Sussexes is between Harry and his great-uncle Edward. The two of them share so many of the same character flaws that it seems like it's in their DNA.
Wallace never struck me as the nicest person in the world, but I never thought she really deserved the corner she was forced into. I don’t think she had much agency beyond a certain point, events spiralled out of control. And it didn’t help that the world chose the same decade to go to hell in a hand basket.
Megan is nothing like her and the two situations are very different.
Except I’m beginning to think we might be headed for the same basket….this hasn’t been the best decade thus far!

Some other differences between the Windsors and Megs/Harry include: The Duke of Windsor pushed the relationship - Wallace was very reluctant - unlike Meghan who aggressively ensnared a willing Harry; The Duke and Wallace lived in the Bahamas for five years during WW2 where he was the Governor and by all accounts they both worked very hard there and were respected . And also, when the Windsors gave interviews (and they gave many), they never criticized the concept of the Monarchy (or the family as you pointed out). All four players had monstrous egos however and pushed people around and were not well liked except for a handful of sycophants. Thanks for your most interesting review. The comparisons and contrasts are a fascinating study in arrogance, ego, and narcissism run amok.
Edward and Wallis were shipped off to the Bahamas to keep them from interfering in WWII with their Nazi sympathies. Refraining from public complaints about the RF might have had something to do with their dependence on income from the King who had to purchase the private property that Edward inherited on the death of his father.
Thank you for doing this video. I think it's so important that people realize that even though the Duchess and Duke of Windsor were by no means perfect, and while there is of course evidence of behind the scenes arguing and other possibly unsavory topics, the truth of the matter is that the Duke of Windsor never once took his feud public and neither did the Duchess. Not even after the public found out about the affair and the possibility that Edward VIII would abdicate, and a group of outraged women found out where she was and were heading to kill her causing her to have to flee, she never once said anything publicly bad about the Royal family. She also never played the victim. Unlike Meghan.

You’re spot on about their isolation. And you know Meghan is ok living that way-she’s a predator and a lone wolf. She uses her charm to pick up and discard people as she needs them. She wants to be invited to the popular kids’ parties, but other than that, she’s a solitary creature.
But Harry needs his family. He needs friends. He’s a social creature. All those cousins he was so close with. His kids growing up so lonely. Not going to have any of that close family love, fun and support. I feel so bad for those babies.
And I’m so proud of the Obamas. Michelle & Barry don’t play. They are all about integrity. And they LOVED the Queen, and Prince Philip. Michelle had a special bond with HMTQ, and both of them bonded with Prince William & Catherine. They are never going to support liars like H&M. It would be anathema to them.

I’ve been thinking about the “if onlys” which are no use ever going over, but the first one is “if only” they hadn’t been given permission to marry.
1 Harry would have thrown a fit and still caused trouble.
2 Harry and M would have called in the media to spread their victim story, loud and long.
3 Queen Elizabeth would have looked very bad. M was divorced but Charles and Camilla had set the precedent. The only reason the public would have seen was racism.
The public did not know M as much as the RF had got to know her, and didn’t like her, so it would have been personal.
There was no way out for the Queen! No choice! She couldn’t forbid a marriage because of personal characteristics, she had no idea how bad M really was!!

Wow! This is good! I have my "if only" moments too but they hang on the notion that H&M would be decent people... IF ONLY MM had been patient enough to bide her time and had stood by the royal family and learn their ways, what opportunities would have opened up for her. But of course knowing her character, that was asking the impossible. IF ONLY Harry had enough sense to listen to his brother and family, and waited just a bit longer... he might have seen for himself what MM's true nature was. But of course, Harry never had any good sense and had his brains even more addled now by his drug habit, as he's literally living in drug haven. Yeah, totally wishful thinking.
They should not have been given the BIG WHITE wedding! As Meghan was a divorcee, they should have been told, NO: a quiet family wedding, as The King himself had, as a divorcee. The Queen did not attend King Charles' second wedding - as a mark of respect to her role as the Head of the Church of England, which, until recently, would not marry divorcees. King Charles had a registry office wedding, followed by a church blessing.
That set the ball rolling for their/her entitlement!

The former sent the wrong message to H&M - that they were almost equal to W&C, They weren't and would never be; so best that they accept that sooner rather than later. In addition to being a divorcee and foreigner, M was totally ignorant of royal protocols, etc and it takes years to learn that.
QEII should not have been bent her rule wrt the family Sandringham Christmas. As with Catherine, M should have had to wait until married to get that invite. Charles should have been less generous wrt to paying for M's wedding attire and pre-wedding wardrobe (H has said the he and M paid for the latter, but I don't believe him). And after the Peter Phillip's wedding fiasco, BP should have been on guard for possible stunts by North American brides.
Finally, a dukedom should have been withheld until such time as M had demonstrated her commitment and competence at being a working member of the RF. Similar to how Edward and Sophie were treated. The was no Duke of Edinburgh promise when they married. Sophie had her own business that she intended to continue and Edward wasn't a working royal. He became one a couple years later and Sophie ran into difficulties with BP and running her business.
--- btw The CoE changed its stance on divorcee marriages in 2002 - iow before Charles and Camilla married. Most likely for PR purposes (possibly a reflection of QEII's conservatism), C&C had settleed for halfway, a registry marriage followed by a church blessing. QEII did attend the blessing and reception.
Overall imo, a reasonable compromise. Made more acceptable because C&C looked very nice and were clearly very happy. The RF got this one right. As they did William and Catherine's.
