The thing I noticed most is that he uses his fretting hand thumb to mute the E string a lot. Makes me realize how much of a noob I am. I also noticed that he's a bass god.

Great observation Justin. If you watch MK's playing very closely you can see the how much dampening and muting he does with his left hand. He does a lot of muting and dampening.

no I'm not nuts, in the beginning Mark King played Jaydee basses with that funky power thats just my opinion and many others who liked Jaydee basses!!!! Status is more rock sound.

I liked the old status basses-- just wondering if anyone has put any thought into the reduced weight of these new ones being a factor for Mark- he's done it a long time, and though strong of build, I am sure those jaydees and alembic a can take their toll-

I have the Status Paramatrix, an Alembic Series II, 2 Ken Smiths, Ibanez Musicians, Mayones Pi, Peavey Cirrus. Unfortunately, I get why Mark is playing the Status basses. He is their rep and gets a piece of each bass sold. I was mildly disappointed in the Status Paramatrix. The Bic and the Smith blow it away. Even the Peavey. The Mayones is up there. Status is a great company, great people working for them. The Paramatrix could have been built with a much more natural feel to it. Maybe the next incarnation will be their ultimate. And Mark King is the monster of all bass players. Watch him live on the Jaydee's and the Alembics. Just sick!!

I think he had the best sound when playing the Alembic series bass, but he did tend to put a little too much filter boost in it, jmo.
