I was further south last week a few times and found the snook but very few trout. Grass everywhere which made me smile. Saw two very large reds that got my heart rate up but they wanted live and I had none. Clear water in some areas and cloudy in others. A good week. Wish I could find a trout bite to keep my topwater busy, you got a couple of nice ones. Good video Jeff, looking forward to more as the water cools……Tim
Water quality farther north seems to be better overall than south and there's good grass in a lot of places I didn't expect it. Trout have been kind of scarce so it was good to seem them back in their old hangouts.
Good to see trout around, they have been surprisingly absent, last year there were quite a bit more, a few places I frequent they were there every trip.
Same sentiment here. Was happy to see them. I've always believed a healthy trout population is a sign of a healthy ecosystem. I will say though, of the few trout I've kept this year, at least half were full of parasites. That's not something I've seen much of in the past.
Hey Jeff, love the videos.. I been fishin this area since I was a kid.. finally moved down 2 years ago and want to finally get myself into a boat and on the water in the lagoon since I live so close. Any chance you can let me know what your set up is? and is the troll motor whats keeping you locked in at that one spot while your casting? Thanks for any info and keep on killin it
Would still be cool to get a video of boat ramp etiquette like u explained in the video on 5-5. Also how busy is river breeze boat ramp real early in the morning on a weekend? Wanting to hit mosquito lagoon for my first time this weekend! Coming from Daytona
I still have that on my list of video to-do's. It's fairly involved and time consuming, because I'd like to do multiple ramps showing various scenarios, and I need to do it when it's low traffic. To answer your other question, Riverbreeze isn't typically too bad. If you get there at first light there isn't much traffic, but there's often a rush right around sunrise that lasts 20 minutes or so, then it slows but seems steady for a while.
i went there bout 4 yes ago and i fished w locals and they said no trout due to dumping of water fro =m ag fiesld and it smelled-we caught limit of snalpper first pm-next day i saw nice ttout when bait fishing but agi snaller fiseed-went to mouth and go some hits but no fish-if can afford will try again next year-reports sound good--im native andhope to seee better daze-
Four years ago the lagoon was in serious decline. Today it has bounced back significantly and at this late stage in the season, I don't think the algae is going to bloom and wipe everything out. So, next year should be amazing!
i have fished mosquito lagoon for 50 years (out of edgewater). it use to be a great place to fish. from one old timer to another (its none of my business) but wear a life vest. one stumble and your in big time trouble.
You're right of course, on both counts. I should wear one but rarely do. I've only been fishing the lagoon for half the time you have, although I've fished there and elsewhere even longer. I bet it was amazing in the 70's. A friend of mine use to wade fish the lagoon back then and often asked me to join him, but I never took him up on it, which I came to regret years later.

I haven’t been there in a few months but end of Spring/early Summer it wasn’t bad before 6am but gets busy after 6am

when those fish are fussy im not too proud to set up on a dead shrimp
@@terrymoore5058 me either, but I didn’t have any real bait, dead or alive. But, had I had some, you can be sure I’d have thrown it at those drum.
