Always liked it but recently has become one of my favourites, the toffee taste is so distinctive on the first mouthful. This and golden champion are my two favourites.
I used to work in a Morland pub and always loved the Old Speckled Hen. I think it is worth to note that between 1980 and 2000 Morland used part of the MG factpry for their brewing. And the logo of the Old Speckled Hen actually resembles the logo of MG cars. A beer I would like to see reviewed is the Bank's Brewery of Wolverhampton's Sunbeam Beer
great review in my opinion; i just poured one of these up. it had a beautiful crown, sweet smell, beautiful colour but the taste was quite watery. the more i drank the more boring it became. at the end i was bored and sick of it and just wanted it to end. 4.8%,50cl, icecold (Sweden)
I like it. Edit: I’ve grown to love this beer. I’ve regularly been drinking this and another English beer and find them both amazing. I wish I could get a wider variety of beers from the UK here where I’m at (southern US). Pretty good selection of German beers which I love, and a variety of other imports. I really am appreciating the English beers for the moment. Hopefully we see more on our shelves in the future
After being on John smiths for a couple of months which is a honest ale for honest people I thought I'd give it a try. .Between me and the ale I must say quite refreshing malty and a spot of fizz to it which I like also easier to poor and less violent when you pull the can ring than John smiths which like guiness wakes everyone up within a five mile radiace. A lovely beverage nice review fella is moorish this beer freezes fast I've noticed I think 7 out of ten is a good score!
I have to know why it’s so hard to find the fine ale compared to the distinctive pale ale in the states. Old speckled hen doesn’t even show a difference but there clearly is.
only lager i can drink is special brew....other than that its boddingtons, or old speckled hen.... boddies tastes better, but not strong enough...and your right ..tastes very maltly clean and light...you can knock it back a bit quick though, so could be costly...but special brew at 7.50 for 4 which is cheapest you will get and this at 3.75 for 4 is excellent value...for bitter i give it 7 out of 10 ...boddies draught i give 8....but still ..NOT STRONG ENOUGH

I love this Ale, it it is the Maltiest Pale Ale ive had, even more then London Pride but ill have to do a comparison
It tastes better from the can. Much smoother. 👍
Great mate, i agree with you. I love this ale. I've drank this ale for many years. You give it a 7, I'll personally give this an 8. 😎

No, an 8 for me.
Distinctive is the right word for this. Acquired taste of a beer, I like it but I can understand why some people don't
Very nice beer .
I used to find it exciting to try all the different Hens, then they just sort of disappeared, about five years ago.
