It's very whimsical. Morrowind had a dark and cryptic theme, oblivion had a bright colorful world, and skyrim went for realism. I think I prefer oblivion a bit though
The people are goffy, sure, but the way the world looks is like it came out of a painting. The blue of the sky, the green of the trees and grass look really beautiful, at least IMHO.
@landoncube769 My problem with oblivion is that it's just so generic looking compared to morrowind and skyrim and both have way more regional differences. Like it was cool seeing the cooler and warmer parts of skyrim with the different folliage and the variance of the Ashlands, swamps, mountains etc in morrowind where beautiful. I do think oblivion is the most vibrant out of them all and I actually prefer some of the house/city design to skyrim. But skyrims city design is more a reality of being stuck on the ps3 and 360 lol.
If some did not know, it is weightless simply because it is a quest item. There is also a weightless bow, sword, and hammer in the Fighter's Guild quest to deliver weapons to the mine. And when you get to the mission to finally infiltrate the cult to try and find the amulet, they will insist you leave all of your equipment with one of them and enter the shrine wearing only robes. However, if you have either this sword or the mine weapons you will retain those and can use them in combat. Once again, because they are quest items so are weightless and can not be removed. Great way to cheese that mission if you are taking it on at a low level.
You can also just drop everything you have on the floor and pick it back up after talking to the cultist. Not very immersive but neither is the mechanic of quest items being glued to the character. If you're high level and carrying 400 lbs of junk I'd recommend droping most of it off at a player home first. Better than spending 10 minutes picking up 3,000 different "restore fatigue" potions lol
I always turned this blade in for the shield, never knowing its power. As a lv1 pickup I guess its the perfect stepping stone to Umbra, once you can defeat her its an upgrade that keeps the unfinished quest perks and pairs it with a new shield that hopefully has a good leveled enchanent. Thank-you Coffee.
I prefer the Escutcheon of Chorrol at late game more, because at level 36 it has 35% Reflect Damage and is one of the pieces you need to have a full 100% Reflect Damage which pretty much makes you invincible
@@connorbarton4308 Escutcheon of Chorrol give 35%, Necklace of Swords/Axes 33%, Ring of The Iron Fists 33%, that is about 101% Reflect Damage lol. I do have an idea about what glitch you're talking about though, but the Shield, Ring and Necklace are how you can get it legitimately.
i do this with umbra's sword, mostly bc its one of the easiest ways to fill soul gems/recharge things, especially in combination with azura's star. tho it is much more annoying to obtain i suppose at a lower lvl. another thing i will note, specially if you DO get this quest early on. the escutcheon of chorrol at lvl25+ has +10 endurance and 35% reflect damage, which is one of the major sources of reflect damage in the [base] game. the others being ring of iron fist and amulet of axes/necklace of swords, at 33% each. anywho, the combination of the 3 items (shield, ring, neck) will put you over 100% reflect damage! for that reason i would suggest waiting till you are lvl25+ to actually turn the quest in. that lets you use the sword for longer while also still getting the lvled reward at its best. its a wonderful shield and i highly suggest it for any build, even if you dont use heavy primarily.
As someone who just picked this item up after watching this video, I can say for certain this weapon can absolutely break, considering it sits in my backpack broken as I type this. Quest items being unbreakable aren't a thing in oblivion (the base unmodded game, at least) so thats quite disappointing. However I did end up going down a rabbit hole learning that the Bound Sword is the best base damage weapon in the entire game, and can be obtained at lvl 1 in all its nearly-unbreakable glory. This video ended up teaching me alot more about oblivion than I bargained for I think!
I love these kinds of quests in Oblivion where you help someone clear a place and the NPCs rebuild, always nice to come back and check on the families once in a while.
My favourite oblivion weapons are either callibens grim retort or hatreds heart the mace, found in the secret tower in the oblivion gates, mace of doom and molar bal are pretty cool too
@Elven At Heart no problem, all the cool unique weapons is basically the only reason I play these games anymore😂. That's why this guys channel is incredible
Man, how did you know I was just getting back into Oblivion??? Get out of my head! Also, some build videos would be great for this game too. Especially considering the wonky leveling system/enemy scaling that happens in the vanilla game.
I've played a shit ton of Skyrim, about 1000 hours over 3 different platforms, and I just started playing oblivion and damn. What a breath of fresh air.
I remember u saying something about upcoming content glad to see it. Unfortunately this questline was bugged for me cause the ogres didnt spawn ir left Weatherleah even though the quest was active . Ran around Hackdirt like a loonatic tryingbto find them but I guess I'm going to have to use comands. Edit: I think it has a conflict with the quests in Hackdirt or so UESP is saying
oblivion is timeless.. we got skyrim on 11/11/11 without oblivion these last 14 years i would have went insane btw, skyblivion is coming out this year!!!!
This face mod is hideous, the Khajit are particularly nightmare inducing. I don't think I've ever seen one that doesn't look worse than vanilla, I really don't know how they manage that.
Ah, oblivion! Beautiful game, but I always have an issue with the side quest where you're supposed to get the jumbo potatoes, the NPCs won't follow me back! 😆
You should pass on this sword. The shield is far more valuable because it has a 35% reflect damage, which you'll need to eventually get the 101% reflect damage with the addition of the Necklace of Swords/Axe and the Ring of the Iron Fist. You'll have to wait until Level 25 or higher to get the full shield reflection %, but Oblivion is all about the long game. Also, you can get the permanent zero-weight Umbra early in the game, which is more powerful. And the zero-weight Rockshatter too.
Yes, they have been for sure. Needed to step away from content creation for some behind the scenes items IRL but making my back now that my schedule has cleared up again. Stream restarting tonight and new Morrowind artifact video will be out by end of week - hopefully back on the regularly scheduled program after that. Thanks for sticking around😊
Sadly the fandom wiki is wrong in one point regarding this blade. Its described as unbreakable...sadly it isnt. Got it on my 360 for leveling blade on those essential npcs in perytes shrine...was dissappointed.
Try not to think about how a weightless sword would be easily manipulated against you by even incompetent enemy combatants. See lightsabers for a similar concept (even though no one in-universe ever takes advantage of that).
Huh, I never knew the Honorblade did that much damage. Apparently that's only 1 point short of a Daedric Longsword? Neat. I always just did the whole "find a Hestra rune stone, get a bound claymore, hit something with it, repair it, drop it, wait for the effect to expire, pick it up and have a free weightless *better than daedric* claymore for 0 weight" thing. But if you're looking for a 1-hander instead of a 2-hander, this looks like it's your best (and I guess kind of only?) option.
Finally, back to Oblivion! Uriel missed me.
Wait...
Your modlist isn't in the description, wanna give us that sweet modlist?

Does the swords damage increase as your level in blade skills / strength increases? I am confused as to what a non-leveled item means.

Get the escutcheon and then steal the sword back from the countess when she's asleep. Then you can have both lol
Won't the guards take it from you the next time you get arrested? Or can you sell it to a Thieves Guild fence and buy it back?
