You've probably been told this already, but skz' first 3 mini albums are a trilogy (as are the next 3) called "I Am:"- the first being "I Am Not", which is about realizing I'm not who I thought I was/what I'm "supposed" to be. The next album was "I Am Who", which was the process of trying to find out who I am, if I'm not this person I've been pushed into being my whole life. Lastly there was "I Am You", which I believe means that even if I don't know who I am yet, I can find parts of myself in other people. Stray Kids really out here making us think about our lives and shit idk if I'm biased or not, but I really do think that Stray Kids' music sounds different than most kpop groups. I thought that before I started stanning them, and now that I've heard everything and know more about them, I think it's even more true than I did before, and it's most likely just because they write all their own music and rarely use outside producers that work with other groups as well. Obviously there's nothing wrong with the more common kpop type of sound, I stan quite a few groups that utilize that sound very well, but I think the different feel I get from all of skz songs is what made me ult them. I don't stan (g)-idle, and I've only heard a handful of their songs, but I get a similar vibe of uniqueness from what I've heard of them. Probably a sign that I should listen to them more lol

So many first time reactors are just like "that song's only about what others say to us, right?" (That's part of the message, but it's not all of it - and as a side note, what others tell us about ourselves can quickly become how we view ourselves). Or first time reactors will be like "I don't get the meaning of this song" for voices which just annoys me so much because it has such a beautiful and (to me) obvious message. Looking back at your older reactions and found this. One thing I love about SKZ is their storytelling. These earlier song were already reflecting their thoughts and concerns that are universal. Thinking about Voices, songs that Han creates lyrics on just resonate so well with me. What I notice about Mirror and later songs is this recurring theme of mirrors, mazes, confusion about one's self and place in the world, and how to deal with it.
voices is a masterpiece !! It is one of their best songs for sure and almost left out of the album, 3RACHA almost discarded it but the people who work with them said not to discard it, said that even if it wasn’t for the album, it was not to discard it. in my opinion, Mirror has one of their best choreographies just for the simple fact that they are mirroring themselves most of the time and mirroring the lyrics too, but I don't think many people care, I remember when the song was released I saw a Stay saying that was one of the most ungrateful choreographies, I was sad that she didn't know how to appreciate something so good. These are definitely one of my favorite b-sides.

Completely agree. I think these songs along with ‘Grow Up’ mean a lot to Stays as far as being relatable, not to say other songs aren’t because they all are to be honest. But I think when the 3 songs came out they resonated hard with Stays because they’re so raw (Mirror and Voices specifically.) For Grow Up which i recommend, it’s a softer song but the message I think in general has helped many Stays across the board I also suggest we go for fun next lol Awkward Silence and Get Cool 😂
When I was first getting into Stray Kids, I just hit play on their Spotify to listen to ALL their songs. I enjoy all their songs but I remember hearing Voices for the first time while I was driving and I was literally struck dumb. I didn’t fully understand the message of the song until I sat down to watch the video with the closed captions but the emotion of the song really stuck with me. I know I’m late to your reactions but I really enjoy how you appreciate everything about Stray Kids, from the choreo, vocals, and lyrics. It’s fun watching you fanboy over them.

When voices came out i remember everyone just being so emotional and it becoming everyone's favourite. Its just so honest and vulnerable, the pictures that skz paint with their words are just breathtaking really (to me haha) and mirror and its choreography actually bacame a foundation for several skz' special stages with "mirror", seungmin described its meaning as "sometimes when i look at myself in the mirror i realise, it might not be be that i look at" something like you cant recognise your own reflection so who are you really? The first three sentences "where am i? WHO am i? I am NOT.. me" basically sum it up and describe the themes the I AM series of albums follows (i am NOT, i am WHO, i am YOU) so as you said: identity crisis, self discovery, breaking away from the societies norms, finding your own path or rather the road not taken (hehhehe) Okay i made it unnecessarily long but like :))) u know. Loved the video as always!! Ps: skz once posted a 'map of their story' somewhere, probably on twitter but I'm sure you can find it just by googling Stray kids story map or something. It was a year ago when side effects dropped with the cle2 yellow wood and theres just a lot of Easter eggs and from music videos and it helped us in trying to figure out the story haha, just a fun fact ~~

It was one of the first Stray Kids songs that i heard along with "YAYAYA" and "My Side" and i love everything about it. The message is really interesting, the lyrics are incredibly deep, well-crafted and beautifully delivered by all the members through their singing (/ rapping) and the choreography... i also love the instrumental progression. The MV may appear very simple and minimalistic in comparison to other videos but it creates a poetic atmosphere that fits really well with the song and represent its message perfectly in my opinion.

Two of my favourite early SKZ tracks. I think all of us had a minor heart attack, first time we heard Changbin take over in Voices. And that choreo has always made me think of performance art for some reason, and I love it. Same is true of that ingenious mirrored choreo in... Mirror. I think you pretty much nailed the interpretations of the songs' lyrics. I think Voices is essentially about being exposed to so much criticism that you start to internalise it, and breaking out of that cycle. Mirror is very much about self-discovery and questioning your own identity, as is most of I Am... Not, and indeed a lot of the I Am... series in general. One early song I _really_ wish they'd released a performance video for is Awaken, from I Am Not. I'd love to see a reaction to that, though it'd have to be a lyric video, unfortunately. I am, however, stoked that I at least got see OT9 do it live last July; apparently they don't do it that often, so I was lucky to be at one of those rare occurrences... 😁

And also, members were asked what song they want to perform in concerts and most of them answered Voices. You can hear the artistic expression they put in this song, how they managed to tell a story through choreographies and how they sang the song by heart. Thank you so much for reacting to these two songs, especially "Mirror" since it's not as popular as some other songs... i'm glad you liked it ! It was one of the first Stray Kids songs that i heard along with "YAYAYA" and "My Side" and i love everything about it. The message is really interesting, the lyrics are incredibly deep, well-crafted and beautifully delivered by all the members through their singing (/ rapping) and the choreography... i also love the instrumental progression. The MV may appear very simple and minimalistic in comparison to other videos but it creates a poetic atmosphere that fits really well with the song and represent its message perfectly in my opinion.

Voices is hands down the most superior b side , but mirror is a dark horse pick, so creative and the message to both songs are just , chefs kiss,
I guess it’s why a lot of us stays like straykids, their messages are just so helpful and comforting, not many artists go in deep in their lyrics so it’s nice to see them have their concept on this

Two of my favourite early SKZ tracks. I think all of us had a minor heart attack, first time we heard Changbin take over in Voices. And that choreo has always made me think of performance art for some reason, and I love it. Same is true of that ingenious mirrored choreo in... Mirror.
I think you pretty much nailed the interpretations of the songs' lyrics. I think Voices is essentially about being exposed to so much criticism that you start to internalise it, and breaking out of that cycle.
Mirror is very much about self-discovery and questioning your own identity, as is most of I Am... Not, and indeed a lot of the I Am... series in general.
One early song I _really_ wish they'd released a performance video for is Awaken, from I Am Not. I'd love to see a reaction to that, though it'd have to be a lyric video, unfortunately. I am, however, stoked that I at least got see OT9 do it live last July; apparently they don't do it that often, so I was lucky to be at one of those rare occurrences... 😁

Personally, Voices is my ultimate favorite song from Stray Kids. You can prove how this song is relevant especially for the ones who suffers anxiety and depression. And also, members were asked what song they want to perform in concerts and most of them answered Voices. You can hear the artistic expression they put in this song, how they managed to tell a story through choreographies and how they sang the song by heart.
