The only "issue" for me with the 808 is image stabilization. But... wow! What phenomenal photos.! I wish Nokia would now make a phablet with the 41 megapixel sensor, with stabilization, and 4K video. THAT would be the bees knees!

his settings are right...you are right about the video being better at high cont and sharp without any editing...but if you grade the low contrast video, it'll look even better than the unedited one..
I can see that the 920 have some issues with auto white balance, you can see the white balance shifting/flickering, which is really annoying and pretty hard to fix in post, so 808 all the way too.
im so thankful for guys like you the nokia 920 is amazing i never knew camera phones were that good and i wasted my money on a logitech c920 webcam cause its hd but when i film im not pleased with the shots but that lumia is incredilbe im returning that logitech and getting one of these nokia 920 it looks like a professional shot unless your really good at editing videos and yo make it look that good. thanks dude.
Is the lack of contrast setting software or hardware relating? That is, could it be fixed with a better recording application (that could come in the future)? Great video and great work. I love it.

Contax 645 (not in my pockets) when I get serious. Yet the Casio broke down, so... I have seen video's of a host of them: iPhones, Galaxy, Xperia & so on. Then I thought the LG G4 might be it. Then I read a remark on the Nokia 1020 on a forum. Being an oldfashioned lover of cinema, I find the 808 astounding. I need to get this 808 to go through the experience myself... thank you for this great review! Very curious how the 808 will turn out.

Just switch on the subtitles, TH-cam subtitles have always been funny ! Its not uploader's mistake. When he said Full HD, that time the subtitles were 'foolish'. For 'Manual Focus' it says 'Mental Focus'. :D And the next line 'and also test', check that line too :)
Always a pleasure to learn from and enjoy your videos. I wish you did reviews more often. How do these phones compare to iphones? Seems like the one with the all the controls would smoke the iphone. I have an iphone 4s and had to purchase a bunch of apps to do what the Nokia 808 has built in.

I think in the default modes, as you showed, lumia shows better contrast, giving the impression of better images, but with the 808 having better sensor and lens, I think it is possibly to have as good contrast when editing the modes and options it provides, do you agree? How not? All they are doing is combining Pure View V.1 (The 808) and PV V.2 (The 920). From what I have been reading, Nokia has been working with Microsoft the have WP8.1 ready for such a possibility of using a 41 MP sensor

excellent color brightness and contrast of the video, could upload video unedited? many ups raw video and color resembles yours, but in the store where they sell the phone the colors do not look like yours, where you set the color brightness and contrast of video on the phone or application for have that color, thanks in advance
Hi Andy. I'm a big fan. I've been following your work for a few years. I'm thinking of getting a 920 simply for video only. I won't even enable it as a phone. I'm wondering if you think they'll fix some of the problems you spoke of through firmware updates.

The 808 wins for me hands down. Able to do 24-25 fps for that film look and you can always color correct when editing.

the 41mp is used to oversample in video too if you didnt know...thats wat gives the video super high detail levels even at that hign compression!

It´s crazy how now in 2017 im using a 920 as main phone... Maybe 4 years ago I would probably use the 808... Both are amazing devices.
