As a comeback rider in 2013, I took a MSF basic class as a refresher. I asked the instructors during a break if it would be a good idea to do a few straight-line parking lot stops with just the front brake and just the rear brake to get a better feel for what the two brakes do on a given motorcycle. They looked at me like I was insane and for a few seconds I thought they were going to flunk me on the spot.

That’s a shame. I have my parking lot students do that very drill for the same reason you state.
