According to the thesis, “Japanese translation of the Christian God ‘神’ - In relation to ‘terminology issues’” (金香花, 2015, Kyoto University Christian Studies Laboratory Bulletin, repository.kulib.kyoto-u.ac.jp/dspace/bitstream/2433/197487/1/arcs_03_35.pdf), there was a time when the Japanese word for the Christian word "God" was translated in other ways, such as "大日Dainichi," "デウスDeus," "天主Tenshu," "ゴクラクGokurak," "上帝Jōtei," and "真の神 Makoto no Kami." However, none of the translations was perfect.
Through various circumstances, "God" was translated as "神 Kami" by Protestant missionaries.
However, there are clear differences between the Christian word "God" and the translated word "神."
(It seems that "神 kami" does not necessarily refer to Shinto god.)
1. While the Christian word "God" refers to the one God, the translated word "神" refers to many gods.
2. While the Christian ``God'' is a transcendent God that transcends humans, animals and plants, and all things and phenomena in the natural world, the translated “神” has continuity with these things. Anything that is "unusual" can be called "kami" in Japanese.
3. While the Christian word "God'' refers to the omniscient and omnipotent God, the Japanese word “神”' is also used to refer to frightening beings such as `"evil things and strange things.''
4. While "God" in Christianity is specifically the creator of the universe, "God" in Japanese is not necessarily the same.
There are language gaps between Christian “God” and “神kami” as described above.
“神 kami” is a generic term, so it would be a good idea to explain Japanese people what the "God" of Christianity is like😊

1. God is real.
Do you mean “God actually exist”? If so, you can say “神は 実在します。Kami wa jitsuzai shimasu.” or “神は本当に 存在します。Kami wa hontou ni sonzai shimasu.”
2. My God is real.
Do you mean “My God is genuine (not fake)”? If so, you can say “私の神は、本物です。 Watashi no kami wa honmono desu.” If you mean “My God actually exist,” then you can add “私の watashi no (my)” in front of “神kami, (God)”. → “私の神は 実在します。Watashi no kami wa jitsuzai shimasu.” “私の神は 本当に存在します。Watashi no kami wa hontou ni sonzai shimasu.”

Why do you usually write ん in purple?
Some words like “kanin", it is not possible to know whether it should be read as "かにん" or "かんいん" with only romaji. That's why I made "n" purple so that people can see it at a glance😊
