Girl, you've been helping me become more rational about the type of content I put out. I love art but these videos have been really helpful for a wider audience. Keep killing it and helping others.
Hi , I am a full time artist and I started my channel two months ago and is hard work but when I see how much I am growing it gives me courage to keep going! I found you here a month ago and I love listening to you ❤
Hello, I started my channel a few days ago. I watched many videos that made me take it more strategically serious. When I create the next round of videos, I will put into practice what I learned from videos from this channel that were gold.
Been on YT as an artist for about 2 years now (not very consistent though) and my channel is slowly starting to pick up now. One subscriber at a time. It feels so good. and watching your video has got me motivated to keep going. Thank you!
I've been on youtube since 2016 posting diy videos until I stopped liking making those types of videos and predominantly as an artist myself, I'm slowly trying to convert my channel into an art channel. Right now I'm just reposting my insta art reels on my channel on the weekend to get some confidence to post long format videos and figure out what it is that I want my channel to focus on. And I really loved your advice about posting 100 videos to understand what works best for the channel and get better data to configure that. Thanks for this video, it helps small artists like me.
As the primal example of your target audience I say - Thank you!!!!!! Your videos are VERY inspiring, clarifying and simplifying my life so MUCH!!! Extremely helpful and in case you are wondering, you are the only person I am following now who provides this kind of info that I require - you do it in a very easy down to earth noone-is-better-than-anyone-else you-can-do-it-too way and that is what helping me the most!!
This was a really helpful! Right now with my channel I'm just trying to be consistent. I wanna get into editing more but right now I'm just keeping it simple. I look forward to your future success as a full time artist!
omg the growth is crazy, congrats!! 🥰❤️ i just started an art channel and i’m nearly at 50 subs after a month, it definitely feels tougher than other platforms
Love the analogy of slowing or amping growth. It's really interesting conceptually to think about doubling down or pulling back, harping on things that are working, etc...All based on goals. Really insightful and helpful video!
Wow, thank you so much for sharing this! I feel like i say that every video but really, thank you. I just started my youtube and in a way it is really validating seeing how you started off slow and was small for your first year. Everytime i search for youtube videos it’s alway “do this for a billion follows!!” And “your channel not getting views is horrible” and seeing someone who i like starting off slow is so heart warming for me atm. ♥️
Just wanted to pop in and say how much you've improved speaking to and being on the camera! I'm one of those people that's found you only recently and I've really been appreciating your practical advice and insights, as well as your beautiful art. Some of your talking-head type videos feature you getting excited and even out of breath, and while I love that you're passionate, there's been a few times I've stopped any other actions I might have been doing to make sure you weren't about to burst into tears! That might just be part of the message you're explaining, but here already you're so much more calm and comfortable. I'm excited to watch you grow onward! 💞
Wow, your channel really has grown so much since I started following you!! I am trying to make it to 10k now, I’m about 3k away from that goal. I’ve been a bit slower to upload lately and I think I definitely need to make some more interesting content or more camera angle changes/edits. It’s very inspiring to see your channel (and other artists) grow so much and make this their career!
Your journey and transparency have been a huge encouragement to me and are so helpful to anyone thinking about pursuing TH-cam. You have such a kind and down to earth way about you and it's refreshing and beautiful to see! Thank you for being you and sharing your insights and experiences with us all! ☺️
Congratulations on 40K! Found your channel about a month ago, and I so deeply appreciate that so much of your advice is a realistic "you've gotta start making things to be able learn and improve". It's helping me find the courage to make my own things and figure it out! You're doing fantastic and meaningful work here! Thank you
I'm a little late to this video! But I just started my channel a month ago, I have 5 subscribers so far but this video helped me a good bit with motivation to keep going! Thanks Kelsey
As a moderately new art channel, I have been binging some of your videos to help me learn what to do and what not to do, your videos have actually helped me learn some things I don’t think I would have known before if I didn’t find your videos, thank you and keep up the great work!
Ahhh I keep coming back to this video whenever I feel like I need a bit of a motivation boost for my channel. Thank you so much for being so honest and transparent ✨
Hi Kelsey. I really need to thank you for this video. I'm about to start an art TH-cam channel. I'd like to focus more on just doing "Art n Chats" just talking about life as an artist over a speedpaint. Hearing your journey really means a lot. I'm going to be a senior this Fall in college, and hearing that you were able to somehow juggle all your videos on top of classes is very encouraging. It's very encouraging to hear that this IS possible. I've got a lot to learn just starting out, but it's nice to know I'm not alone in this :) Looking forward to following you on your art jounrey! :D
Ahhh this was SO HELPFUL!! Growth can be sO pAInStAkInG, and I do occasionally get discouraged when looking at my analytics. But I always try to remember that growth takes time and is ALWAYS worth it in the end. You’re such an inspiring artist, and it’s been such a joy to see you grow! 💛
Super helpful video. I'm 4 years deep into my TH-cam journey, and have ultimately failed to build an audience and grow on the platform. But I'm still pushing forward and I've never been more excited about it! Super fun at the end of the day and I'm excited for what's to come.
Kelsey you are gonna go SO FAR. You're incredibly smart, dedicated, and hardworking, and your content is amazing. Would you ever consider doing channel audits on yt?
@@KelseyRodriguez I'd love to see that from you, Kelsey! Your analytical mind is so admirable, and I trust your judgement, so it would be very cool to see your feedback on channels.
congrats! i can't remember the prediction i made on your channel last year but i'm confident you blew it out of the water, fab work - and very inspiring! :) maybe this is the year i'll finally get back into my art goals
I actually screenshotted your comment and kept it lol! You predicted I'd reach 30k by August of this year, so you weren't entirely off, but I definitely hit that ahead of schedule hehe 😎
@@KelseyRodriguez it's been really cool to watch your channel grow! i checked out for a bit as i lost a job & started my own teaching business, but i'm feeling my artistic energy stirring and hope soon i can get back into it :) i'll def be checking back in on your channel - which my new prediction is 100k by January!
Thank you for your videos, they have been so helpful as a part time artist. I still need to work on being comfortable recording myself speak/ getting over my shyness lol
Oh hey Marlene! I really love your studio ghibli gouache painting process videos. Hearing yourself speak while editing and getting over the fear of being on camera takes time but with enough practice you get used to it, I promise 💕
It has been said that it generally speaking takes two years to establish a business. So you are right on target. You are established and now in the goal setting, progress and growth stage! Good for you!
I made my first and only posted video in February talking about my amateur art journey and experience with chronic illness...I made two more videos and never posted them out of fear haha, I think this is my sign to start trying this again!! Thank you so much, this was extremely encouraging to listen to and I really appreciated everything you shared! I love your art and your thoughts!!
It's not about how many followers or how much money you make, It's about the journey you make, enjoy the time along the way, be true to yourself, Yes we have our ups and downs.
I only found you a couple weeks ago! Love your straightforward, no nonsense but snarky and friendly personality! Very refreshing! I am working on my art career myself, having started it in my 40s with 2 young kids. This social media stuff is crazy! My artwork best lends to short videos (reels, shorts, TikTok), and it took so long to figure it all out. Still have so much to learn! I applaud your informative videos and you deserve all your successes and more!
Thanks for the tips. I've had some fits and starts over the year. The best tool I've found to stay consistent has been using some of my videos (esp live streams) to be accountable to myself to be productive in my studio while also doing my best to provide value to any audience I can get. Co-working live paint and chats have been fun!
HEY! Your videos help me so much! You inspire me and I’ve only started this channel like a month ago but you make it seem possible that I’ll one day be HUGE
I feel like I'm in the early journey of the path you were on as well. I'm still in school and working on my channel and this video was super insightful from someone that is further along the path. Lots of value in this one video!
I found your channel a couple of months ago, and I really enjoy your technical videos. I really appreciate you talking about making videos, and I appreciate the information that you're sharing. Thank you so much!
You are so sweet! I saw your videos when you were just starting out. Now I am where you were a year ago and you are inspiring me SO MUCH!! Thank you for being an inspiration
I just found you today and you got me subscribed! You are very knowledgeable and so logical and smart in the way you present information. It seems you are blessed with both a well working left and right brain! I also really like that you are very transparent, showing us actual graphs and charts. I'm looking forward to see you grow and learn more from you!
I found you about ten months ago and it’s been crazy watching you grow!! especially this last spike i kept being like wait she’s at how many now?? every time you uploaded. congrats you’ve worked really hard and make great content! : )
Your videos really helped me on the path to build my TH-cam channel. I just had the courage to post my very first video and your content has given me motivation to do so! I have been an oil painter for many years, but I am starting this channel from zero. Thank you for your suggestions, thank you for sparing your time to help other artists!
I love your content so much, your the most realistic art content creator that actually gives out amazing information. I am hoping to start a TH-cam channel and your videos are so help. Thank you and hope you keep on creating.
That's a lot of hard work you should be very proud of Kelsey! I think the trajectory and growth of your channel is very health and shows a lot of progress. Best wishes for your continued success :)
Just gotta say I'm proud of you for getting confident in front of the camera, I remember your first videos (as a lurker) you were technically fluid but your voice tended to break a bit. But now you sound a lot more confident and you can maintain eye contact with the lenses, keep at it:)
This is an inspiring video. I’m a new ‘how to draw a..’ channel that’s been languishing and have seriously thinking of shutting it down in the new year. But after watching your video, I’m going to keep it going! Thank you!
Wow congratulations ❤️! It’s always nice to see someone’s journey from the ground up. It’s relatable and I love the workbook you made it’s really expanded my mind and helped me to look at things differently. I’m excited to start my own channel after seeing you and other creators really make it happen. Keep reaching for the stars ⭐️.
I love your channel, I always get so inspired to do better with my videos. I've been uploading witchtober art lately, and I don't know why I haven't done more camera angles and stuff. That's how I film short art videos for tiktok, I should be doing it for my youtube as well. Also it made me smile knowing you were at 40k when you made this and you're now at 114k. Keep up the awesome work!
This actually helped me a lot. I’m a starting out tier art channel but, isn’t going too good. Yet this video, just yes,, very top tier and straight to point, like it a lot, very helpful:)
I always wanted to start an art channel but honestly I recorded some of my painting progresses and I found that I felt so conscious of every movement I made, and when I forgot about the camera, I ended up blocking the painting with my hand (or head) 😬 I think I’ll stick to my travel channel (although that’s not going great either hahah). I’m just going to keep plodding on and hope for the best 😂 Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience 💕
This has helped me so much. I've always wanted to have a channel and grew up wstching others become very successful. I'm nowhere near in a lot of skills or supplies (my camera is okay quality) and i do not have as much educational information as others or such but not letting that stop me. I'm workign with what I have got for a stsrt and grow with the channel! Definitely will focus on the marketing side
I had the opposite experience in 2020 🥴 my channel was growing and growing (got 1.5k subs) but the pandemic really messed with my motivation and I fell off. Recently I’ve been feeling the bug again and your videos are helping motivate me!
Thank you so much for thinking of where you were in your journey, and telling the real life things you did and how you thought. It has helped me so much now. Thank you again!
I only recently stumbled into your channel but now I look forward to each of your uploads!! Your videos are so informative and they're helping me with my own channel so much! Thank you for the open and honest video 🤩
I'm so very happy to see how far you've come in your journey Kelsey! I've probably said it many times before, but you've always been great inspiration for me and my channel, so it's always great to see your efforts paying off!! 😁
You've inspired me to revive my dead youtube channel. I've always wanted to do art videos with voiceover and share my experiences, but I always thought I wasn't good enough to do it. English is not my first language so I've always been a little bit self conscious about how I sound. Then I found your channel and it inspired me to use what I have. It's not bout making fully professional videos from the beggining, it's about a growth jorney. So thank you for helping me start mine
Thank you so much for sharing your journey!! But getting to one hundred thousand subscribers takes a ton of hard work and much more than a little luck !!lol I just looked it up and ONLY 0.28% of all channels ever get to one hundred thousand and sooo early congratulations to you since you’re almost there!! You’re an inspiration to me!!
@@KelseyRodriguez Lol. I really think it’s a combo of work and luck but more on the luck side because I have a YT friend who’s an expert about YT and he has not grown his channel to anywhere near one hundred thousand in 2 years and he really knows EVERYTHING about growing on YT. Lol
Congratulations Kelsey!! I've been subscribed to you since before you hit 1K! I can't believe you are already at 40K!!! You have been such an inspiration for me in starting my own art channel! Can't wait to see how you grow even more!!🎉🎉🎉
I’m so glad that finally someone mentions that investing and camera quality does matter in order to elevate the video quality to help gain attraction 🙌
it really does make a huge difference!! if the video quality looks like you're recording on a webcam from 2007 through a fishbowl there's only so much you can do, every bit of quality increase helps you stand out from the crowd
Congratulations 🎉 I stumbled across your channel and I’m glad to find you ❤ I just started my TH-cam channel and I invested in a camera and lighting at the first place because of your advice :) Thank you!
As someone who's been failing for 8 years to come back from a hiatus, that 2-year learning curve you went through sounds so nice. Still, animation is a bit of a different beast, especially since I do comedy on a lot of different topics. Plus animation tends to take longer on average to produce, and youtube doesn't like that I can't produce videos longer than a few minutes at best. And I have 14-year-old videos that outshine anything I do now in terms of views, so most people get suggested my oldest work simply because of the numbers. Frustrating to say the least. Still, great to hear about your success story! Hopefully, I'll clear that hurdle soon myself. Driving myself nuts trying to figure out how to improve on my craft to bring people in. So far, my weak points are topics and audio design. I can write and draw great, and I'm to a point where I can produce content on an almost weekly basis. This has been an informative watch though, cheers!
IMO if your older videos don't represent what you make now but are still pulling in views, unlist/private them!! Film Booth has some good arguments for this on his channel.
@@KelseyRodriguez I actually sort of tried that. Sadly, the older videos do bring in views, I just don't want people seeing the age of the videos and assuming the channel's dead. Or like seeing all the older videos being so much more successful and assuming that everything new I do sucks. But I did unlist a bunch of live streams I did, since it was me playing a game fans wanted to see me play. I kind of did a cartoon of it so it was basically a treat for them. But I was afraid maybe that was being shown to people, and since my live streams are kind of boring I didn't want people to get the wrong impression. Not sure if it helped or not, since views are about the same. I have been getting some success with doing shorter cartoons based on trendier topics, though. Not much, but instead of 100 views, they can get up to 1K. Better than nothing. I do watch a lot of channels like that, Film Booth and VidIQ being the two big ones I go back to. It's made me focus a lot more on the thumbs and titles lately. I'm just not sure how much I have to do in order to combat my 200k 15 year old videos, especially since everything I do is leagues above and beyond the skill shown in those. Gotta keep the older fans happy too.
Im really happy to be here Watching u grow from the beguinning-ish. I dont comment much because the language barrage (Its so much harder to write in english than listen), But I Watch every one Of your video and for the most of them, more than once. You give us so much value, motivation And good art. Thanks so much for being this awesome! Congratz on tour growth it was very deserved, and im sure Its only the beguinning
I havent seriously been trying to grow my channel for very long, but I have noticed a positive difference in the last 6 months of me trying a bit harder with the channel. but even so i try not to pay too much attention to numbers due to trying to spend more time creating and not wanting to become too focused on what the numbers say.
Thanks for this :) I am still in my first year here on TH-cam and a lot of what you said is relatable. I am still figuring things out, filming (still on my phone hehe), lighting, content, everything. And it has been challenging but fun. You have given me some things to think about as well as some encouragement to keep going :)
Girl, you've been helping me become more rational about the type of content I put out. I love art but these videos have been really helpful for a wider audience. Keep killing it and helping others.

Done Please ✅🤍🥰🖤🖤💜
Just gotta say I'm proud of you for getting confident in front of the camera, I remember your first videos (as a lurker) you were technically fluid but your voice tended to break a bit. But now you sound a lot more confident and you can maintain eye contact with the lenses, keep at it:)

This video helped me so much, I have been on YT for over 8 years and stuck in limbo.
This is an inspiring video. I’m a new ‘how to draw a..’ channel that’s been languishing and have seriously thinking of shutting it down in the new year. But after watching your video, I’m going to keep it going! Thank you!
Well Done Kelsey!!❤️🙌✨ and thanks for the super honest and transparent talk.
This video was really helpful! I've been on youtube for about a year and I've been watching all your videos and they're helping me improve my content!
Done Please 🤍🤍🖤🖤💜💜💜
This has helped me so much. I've always wanted to have a channel and grew up wstching others become very successful. I'm nowhere near in a lot of skills or supplies (my camera is okay quality) and i do not have as much educational information as others or such but not letting that stop me. I'm workign with what I have got for a stsrt and grow with the channel! Definitely will focus on the marketing side
Congrats to you! Also for artists please don't do things others like! Do things you enjoy and others will come!
I had the opposite experience in 2020 🥴 my channel was growing and growing (got 1.5k subs) but the pandemic really messed with my motivation and I fell off. Recently I’ve been feeling the bug again and your videos are helping motivate me!
As i watch this video, you're at 239K subscribers, so you are definitely building your channel 😀
Done Please 🖤💜💜❤
I'm so glad I found you. I love how open and honest AND YOU, you are! Thank you!
Thank you so much for thinking of where you were in your journey, and telling the real life things you did and how you thought. It has helped me so much now. Thank you again!
This is so awesome! I'm super happy for you. I've discovered you in the past few months 💝I'm glad I did. Thanks for sharing all your insight!
*This is SO helpful Kelsey! THANK YOU!* 💖😃
I love your content. I am slowly using your advice even though I'm not completely your target demographic as I'm 42. You are so inspiring. Thank you.
I only recently stumbled into your channel but now I look forward to each of your uploads!! Your videos are so informative and they're helping me with my own channel so much! Thank you for the open and honest video 🤩
Thanks for sharing this info Kelsey! Your story is so motivating for me to start some of my own projects that I’ve been putting off!
I'm so very happy to see how far you've come in your journey Kelsey! I've probably said it many times before, but you've always been great inspiration for me and my channel, so it's always great to see your efforts paying off!! 😁
Done Please ✅🤍🥰🥰🥰
You've inspired me to revive my dead youtube channel. I've always wanted to do art videos with voiceover and share my experiences, but I always thought I wasn't good enough to do it. English is not my first language so I've always been a little bit self conscious about how I sound. Then I found your channel and it inspired me to use what I have. It's not bout making fully professional videos from the beggining, it's about a growth jorney. So thank you for helping me start mine
Woo! Been amazing to watch your growth. Keep up the good work! 💪
Love your stuff! Thank you so much! I'm one of the newer 20k btw! Also an artist and putting together career plans, so your content is GOLDEN!
I definitely think it's more skill than luck, but yeah! it's a pretty rare feat
Lol
Thanks for sharing your journey with us! It's wonderful and inspiring to see ❤
Congratulations Kelsey!! I've been subscribed to you since before you hit 1K! I can't believe you are already at 40K!!! You have been such an inspiration for me in starting my own art channel! Can't wait to see how you grow even more!!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you sooo much! I’ve been trying to grow my art channel for a real long time. Hopefully it works out. :) ❤️
@@KelseyRodriguez thank you 🙏
Gravitating in the art world myself, I think that your channel and your content are really important and interesting, so thanks ! 🥰
I also just LOVE your podcast- as a busy art student I don’t feel so alone
Congratulations 🎉 I stumbled across your channel and I’m glad to find you ❤ I just started my TH-cam channel and I invested in a camera and lighting at the first place because of your advice :) Thank you!
As a newbie here on TH-cam your videos are actually VERY useful! Thank you so so much for all these tips :)
Love watching these videos of yours. I’ve been off the TH-cam wagon for a while but plan to get back to it and you’re so inspiring
Great advice as per usual. This channel has some of the best content on the platform
Very helpful! Thank you. I'm right where you were in the beginning. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I LOVE IT 🙃
Thank you for this! One thing really resonated and that is - first year is for learning and not growth! I have been looking at this all wrong!
Just started a channel the other day! Great tips, everyone good luck!
You’re so smart, pretty and good communicator! Congrats! All deserved
Love your artwork and advice sooooo much!!! Love 💓💓
1 month after this video and you've gained another 20k subs! You're on fire!🔥 You've really cracked the code! 🙌
Thank you!! 🙌 It's been wild to see the growth and I'm excited to see what comes next
Just hearing from you is giving me power to start my own journey!! Thanks a lot 🥺💌💕✨
CONGRATS!!!! You deserve it! Keep on going!!
I havent seriously been trying to grow my channel for very long, but I have noticed a positive difference in the last 6 months of me trying a bit harder with the channel. but even so i try not to pay too much attention to numbers due to trying to spend more time creating and not wanting to become too focused on what the numbers say.
Thanks so much for sharing your insight. Wishing you continued growth and success.
Thanks for this :) I am still in my first year here on TH-cam and a lot of what you said is relatable. I am still figuring things out, filming (still on my phone hehe), lighting, content, everything. And it has been challenging but fun. You have given me some things to think about as well as some encouragement to keep going :)
Great video and very interesting to listen to,thanks for advising and sharing your story
