This is one of the few times I've watched SGDQ where you can actually feel the whole room is having fun. And that's really what it should all be about. Playing games, having a good time. Raising money to beat cancer, yes, but still having a good time.
I just want to say how amazing this race was and how great the SMW Kaizo community is. The outstanding effort that was put into this hack from the level creators, playtesters, graphic designers, ASM coders, producers, and to have these amazing runners put on an awesome show, it really was one of the high points of my life. I felt like I was really part of something special today. Thank you to all the people in this community for letting me be a part of it.
@@ericg1100 It was definitely a high point in my life. osumariokartman and I were both there watching it live surrounded by a large amounts of people from the community. Everytime you hear the audience in this video, every "Oi!" you hear, it was only made possible from the common interest we all shared.
@@ericg1100 Having been a part of the team that developed and polished this rom hack, and to see how well it was received by not only the kaizo SMW community, but the entirety of GDQ, it was very special to me.
Still coming back to it :) Perfect excitement for a lonely drinking game: shot/sip at every start of a new lvl, at every checkpoint/pipe transistion and every finish :)
Having a very minor amount of experience in Lunar Magic I really REALLY respect the work that went into this hack. If you've never messed with LM, go try it and see exactly how hard it is to do even basic things, let alone the craziness these guys do.
What an awesome event! Big shout-out, high fives, props, hugs, all that I could do to everyone of this AWESOME community that it's the Kaizo Mario community. I'm going to train a lot in SMM2 to be able to have a slice of the ability that these guys have That Air Traffic level was INSANE!
Dude great race. It was close!!! Thanks for putting it up so quick. Tried to watch on twitch at time of and it was a total loss. To much lag. Congrats to all the runners at SGDQ and thanks for giving your time and energy in raising money for this great cause
Some of my favorite streamers from my favorite community getting together for live team Blind Kaizo Race? Have continuous orgasms! Seriously, Hough, GDQ never disappoints. Dose was the MVP for sure, and he was such a late pick in the draft!
Not like spike got several things wrong lol. One tall man I think he said like the first 5 times, and then the race stats that he later corrected. No dig, it's a lot to keep track of and live announcing is brutal, it's just entertaining
This was so great loved every single second of it! And my favourite streamers have won even better! :D Thanks for the fast upload! This was probably one of my favourite Mario related video of all time
One thing i dont think poo is getting enough credit for is how effectively he passes off the controler. In some instances hes so efficient his butt doesnt ever touch the seat.
Really like the idea behind this sort of race format (winning a level gets you X amount of seconds advantage on the last). It prevents a complete slaughter which can be boring to watch. I would suggest that they do more than +10s for each win, though. Maybe the disadvantaged team shouldn't be allowed to watch while the winning team does their head start? It just didn't feel like the winning team really got that much of an advantage in that last race.
Celeste is my favourite game and also the reason why I decided to pick up Mario Maker 2 so I could get more very difficult platforming, and this here just makes me so happy to see
Still coming back to it :) Perfect excitement/energy for a drinking game: shot/sip at every start of a new lvl, at every checkpoint//pipe/screen transistion and every finish :)
*I swear this is pretty much the best gaming video I've watched all year!* I am NOT kidding! This was seriously so fuckin awesome to watch!! It was such an amazing and incredibly clever level! It had perfect and funny commentating, and also so many fuckin mind blowing skilled moments from the runners! Hell, even the crowd's reaction and participation made it that much more entertaining to watch and totally rounded out the entire experience. Let's not forget, IT WAS ALL FOR CHARITY!! Jesus I'm just stunned at how good this was
That was great, such a close match in the beginning.. I was trying to catch you guys live too but I was only able to pop in durring the kh3 speedrun, at least I could watch it here!
When you guys did the Super Mario Maker relay race in 2016 I thought a run couldn't get any better than that. Then you did the Super Mario Series relay race a year later and thought the same thing. Now in 2019 you (and I mean the collective you of all the runners, commentators, and folks who actually worked on the game) have managed to top yourselves. I'd say there's no possible way you can top this; but I have a feeling that the Super Mario Maker 2 relay race is going to prove me wrong whenever that happens.
This was the best GDQ segment I've ever seen. I expected Dode to be the MVP but I didn't realize by how much. I also didn't realize how good Glitchcat would be. How is Dode so much better? All of these guys play Mario for hours every day. Dode even has a full time job so he probably plays less than them.
this is absolutely some of the best mario content I've ever seen. well done everybody. I know it takes if not tens but hundreds of ppl comiting so many hours of their time for the viewers pleasure. Mario community op
I can't believe how close most of these levels were! And this is definitely the right format for the blind relay races. Hope you're all having an awesome time a SGDQ!
Whoever did the runner sprites must be a really creative person. They even invented legs for sprite Poo!
Juz' even takes a drink at the end instead of the peace sign lol

Edit: OK, Juz's portrait is made of win, too. XD
Okay, when they brought out LaserBelch's headband in a case for him, I lost my damn mind laughing.
Underrated
Shoutouts to MCRikki for being the headband delivery guy.

@Bchu 25 No it wasn't.... 40-20 = 20
@Bchu 25 they won 2. 25:51 and 44:35.
Wow! Best race I've seen in a long time. Fun and very close.
Even during a race Poo murders Yoshi. Also I definitely have respect for Dode. Never really watched him before
He's insanely good, even Poo speaks very highly of his skill. No surprises how well he did in this race.
These Kaizo levels look pretty creative! Amazing job by these runners for clearing these levels & making this race so hype!

"... Dode showing it off"
"Oh, that's Tofu, that's the wolf"
Tofu's reaction to beating Reznor is the most wholesome shit. Love that man.

That was the most fun I’ve had watching something from GDQ ever, and i have fun watching pretty much everything from GDQ. Awesome.
Dominant race, by all. What an incredible set of levels! So much effort put into that! I'm extremely impressed! Also, that trophy too 🔥
34:40 Easily my favorite part of the race. The pipe entries were literally at the exact same time.
I thought they were going to play Kaizo Mario blindfolded. That was so masochistic that it enraged me.
This is the greatest thing I have ever seen. Excellent race. Everything was top notch. Congrats on the win.
Elastic Spastic giving it all on the mic
Super Cringe gone quick

I loved the cute little avatars. Especially Barb's and Poo's. They're the cutest.
Frikin amazing! The levels, the asm, the music, the gameplay... The only thing I missed was closeups of the players, that would have been really cool.
Just watching them stand up, rotate seats and sit back down again constantly for an entire hour made my back ache. Troopers.

Missed the live SGDQ of this. So happy it was up on YT so quickly. Awesome race guys! Congrats One Tile Men! That was spectacular!
Late to this race, but low key Juzcook is the darkhorse in this race. Sadly he lost, but what a legend!
