Kevin Devine is the best singer songwriter of all time hands down there's not even anybody close so much truth and emotion in his lyrics and delivery does not get the respect he deserves
+Eatingfingus89 Trista89 i agree that he brings a raw emotion that very few have matched you can literally see how much emotion puts in his lyrics and he doesn't get the respect or recognition he deserves but "the best" I don't know maybe, everyone has a different opinion for lack of better words
I love him so much. I try to share his music to everyone I know. I wish I could meet him and have a real conversation. I feel like that would make my life. I love when he sings with Jesse lackey of brand new
ive had the honor, and ill say he's amazing guy who doesnt have his head up in the clouds at all very down to earth and humble, great guy..if you have the chance see him live he's even more amazing :)
I discovered these videos and this artist by accident. I am a fellow musician and an instant fan. This is some really fantastic stuff and inspires me, thank you Kevin Devine!
It's funny you say that, he's stated that Elliot Smith and Neutral Milk Hotel are his biggest inspirations. I even asked him about it at a concert and he said the same thing.
@lacksapulse I'm guessing a Digital SLR with a nice lens...you can tell by the limited depth of field and the lack of camera movement...stunning image for sure.
Another great song from KD. Though, I hear nothing of Neil young or Nirvana in this, anyone paying attention would hear direct influence from Elliott Smith, specifically 'Fond Farewell'
The nirvana influence he had during this song:) Uh alright, how do you know he had a nirvana influence during this song? Did you interview him or something?
He's talking about a female with a personality disorder of sorts that he cares about and sees good qualities in but she's just in the problem and never the solution. Is what it is.
anti aliasing artifacts on the guitar string, annoying noise floor, 1080p, wide angle, a little DOF, and crisp. Sounds like a Canon T2i with a kit lens.
One of the best songs I've heard in many years.
I love how he says the get in the car part. Very convincing to get that person to get in the car .. .. .

Andy Hull!?!?
I discovered these videos and this artist by accident. I am a fellow musician and an instant fan. This is some really fantastic stuff and inspires me, thank you Kevin Devine!
Kevin is a great man.
I can relate to most of his songs so much. how real he is. and unashamed to sing of his addiction. as an addict in recovery ballgame is my theme song.
Kevin, in person, is a humble man. We missed out on his company! Our fault!
This is really beautiful.
God damn, this is so good.
Oh my God so good.
true emotion and empathy.
So nice, love you and Andy!
It's funny you say that, he's stated that Elliot Smith and Neutral Milk Hotel are his biggest inspirations. I even asked him about it at a concert and he said the same thing.
I totally love it...
People asking for tunings and other things, I tabbed it out on Ultimate-Guitar. go check it out, Mine's Version Two
"Say the words.. you use to wish you heard."
Fuckkkkk this is cutting me in half, loooooovvveee this, god damn
Those chords
Perfect.
Turn back to the person you tried to let die. Fucking wow
@NJTraitor DEFINITELY just heard "Fond Farewell" in this song. Never really noticed it before, good job.
The very first notes sound like I Will Follow You Into The Dark and then it turns into Fever Moon before he starts singing
ive played that guitar. i believe it is the best guitar i will ever play in my life.
this song is fucking awesome
I think back to when ppl would say to me ‘thank you so much and all I could say’no prob
@lacksapulse I'm guessing a Digital SLR with a nice lens...you can tell by the limited depth of field and the lack of camera movement...stunning image for sure.
Genius
reminds me a lot of something Elliot Smith would've done
Kasey Grunwell One of his favorite artists is Elliot Smith. He actually has some Elliot Smith covers.
The chord progression reminds me of Miss Misery
@@jordansephirot1623 the chord progression is very close to "A Fond Farewell"
You could comment that on any KD video without even listening to the song and it would probably ring true, apart from the specific Elliott song.
The new Bad Books song "No Reward" seriously sounds like it could fit on XO or Figure 8.

This song destroyed me so beautifully
What kind of camera did you use? Shits perfect
Kevin did a whole tribute album...
The nirvana influence he had during this song:) Uh alright, how do you know he had a nirvana influence during this song? Did you interview him or something?
his camera shits perfectly?
@NJTraitor

You can realy hear the nirvana influence that he had during this song.
never heard of "gregory..." until i read this comment. Thank you.
is this in e flat
This song really reminds me a lot of Elliott Smith.
o-o imagine only being known for the guy you sound kinda like...
@@CrokusTheDerg imagine being TH-cam user baked apple frog
soo good but ppl can't take things back
Wow, can I marry him?
