    Great stuff.
The Akwamu warriors (300 of them) that accompanied Osei Tutu were given to the Asafohene, the chief warlord of Kwaman at the time ( latter Kumasi), hence his name Akwamuhene.
Anum Asamoah and his people became the police force (Abrafo) and were settled around the king to provide protection, and therefore the vicinity of Palace became known as Anum and later got corrupted to Adum.

Obiri Yeboah was Kwaman hene not Asantehene
    Asante came after his death
Dormaa never fought Asante, but Kwaman, won the first and lost the second
So Dormaa wounded Obiri Yeboah and he died later. And Osei Tutu became Kwaman hene and killed Dormaa Kusi then chased them away and then formed Asante with other chiefs

I wish to congratulate Lawyer for telling the history of Denkyira and Asante
But I have a different version about the source of name of ASANTE because the tribal group of people called ASANTE were there before the old GHANA empire was founded ,as well as other tribes of AKIMS. AJWAMUS, FANTES. AMENFIS, BONO ETC.
Athese tribal people were there in Akans Dia Kingdom long before ALL THE EIGHT AKAN CLANS were created by King Dia of Dia Kingdom which was located in the area where the country MALI is located
I am prepared to be invited by MAX TV to throw other lights on the Akans.
    Thank you.

It hurts i'm just watching this but i think Lawyer didnt do justice to the adage' Asante didi nso asante nkae....'... that is not the full adage, it is actually 'Asante didi wo ho nso Asante nkae wo nkyi' to wit 'Ashanti's benefit from you but will not trace your history or where you from (whoever you are , ashanti's want to know how you can help them, they dont care where you from)... as lawyer rightly said, Okomfo Anokye gave a stern warning to the Ashantis not to trace the ancestry of any captives including their own ancestry...

  • @kwasiabban2267

    There are alot of things that he said that are factually incorrect;
    1. They claim Osei tutu was a nephew to Obiri Yeboah, Obiri Yeboah was an Aduana man just like his predecessors(Twum ne Antwi, Dwamina Akenten) so how can a sister of Obiri Yeboah (Aduana clan man, making the woman, osei tutu's mother also an Aduana clan woman) give birth to an Oyoko clan newphew to obiri Yeboah since they are saying they brought matrilineal inheritance meaning the child should be part or come from his uncle's clan a Aduana and not oyoko, so where from this oyoko nephew to an Aduana uncle?
The fact is that osei tutu was from a group who later became the kokofu people. When you go there you can find where exactly osei tutu's mother birthed him near a river, which has now been made into a shrine.
Osei tutu was made the kwaamanhene and to amalgamate all the minute, scattered and unformed states/tribes in the enclave as well as pulling most Denkyira defectors(Atwima-- All Atwima people in the Ashanti region are Denkyiras, nkawie, Asuowon, Pakyi etc etc etc) by the tricks of okomfo Anokye to create a civil war in Denkyira for their liberation because of their tutelage and friendship in Denkyira.
2.I will keep the rest until I have received answers to the above.
Please, we all need to analyse whatever these Asante historians tell the public anytime, you will see their flaws.

Point of correction, Okomfo Anokye was never from Akwapem. He was an Ewe. There’s no doubt that you’re a great historian but this part of the history cannot be extorted, please

@@jeffa8441 Okomfo Anokye made a decree that it is a taboo to expose the origin of Asantes. So how were you expecting Asantes to tell their histories without breaking that taboo? That is why most Asante narrations are half truth mixed with lies. They needed to tell the history in such a way that they won't break the law of Okomfo Anokye. So you need to relearn the history of Akan by listening to other sides if you want to know the truth!
