We were at the point of booking a cruise a few years ago. When I said that we only wanted a drinks package for one we were told that we could not do that. My wife only drinks water and never touches soft drink. I enjoy a beer or three and wine with dinner. Needless to say we did not book. On another occasion I was approached at Miami airport and asked if I had any alcohol in my luggage. Yes I replied, a bottle of Malt Whisky. You can't take that aboard the ship I was told. Just as well we are not on your ship and never will be I growled.
@@ianscott3180 We don't always have the drinks package it depends on several things. Who we are traveling with, how port intensive the itinerary is and which cruise line we are traveling on.

Thankyou, very helpful info...I recon that the break even price is about 2 double drinks and 2 wines per day, although I may be wrong. Of course we have to remember that it is for all passengers in the cabin (as I understand it).
Booked on our first ever cruise with FO for August 25. Bought 2 x drinks package, and knowing how we drink, we'll be quids in! I'd be happy to pay a premium for decent cider though. Sommersbys is way too sweet and Strongbow is pretty naff.
