    CLARIFICATION about 6:33 - Some have interpreted this as if an update broke the app. This is NOT the case. I was referring to the work I did with this video. An update added AUv3 support, which is a good thing, but the material I recorded for this video was made before the update and in that material I was harping on about the lack of AUv3 support. I was also referring to the lack of AUv3 support. I had pretty much recorded everything and was about to start editing everything when the update hit. The update made all of my material out of date right there and then. So I had to redo everything from scratch. As one of my Patreons said, “it’s hard to work with a moving target”. Many reviewers will hurry to get their videos out early, but I don’t do that. I take my time with the apps and or hardware in order to get to know them better. That way I can make videos based on some proper info and understanding of what an app or hardware thing can do and how it works. Sometime that means that I’ll be working with something for so long (preparing a video for it) that an update hits and basically makes a lot of my work out of date. Sometimes I’m lucky and I’ll get access to a product early (months) in advance, this is the only time you’ll see me put out a video in launch date for a product.

    I was a synth clinician a hundred years ago. I watch your videos because you bypass the slick knob and dial up the fun knob. I learned nobody gave a shit about quantize error or if I was a brilliant musician (which I'm not) they just wanted to have fun. I mention that because what i wanted to learn about this app was handled well, and one thing I learned, simply by paying attention, was how to change the damn effects! It went by in 2 seconds, but there it was. Thanks!

    Throughly entertained. Super great job. Your videos continue to get better and better. I think you sold me on getting Pure Acid. Even though I am not an AcidHead, I think PureAcid could be really fun, especially that sequencer.

      Yeah I really love the Sequencer! The only other app that I know of that is this intuitive is the Rosetta suite ... I think. I haven’t used it in a while but I have a recollection of me having a similar fun app experience with Rosetta stuff.

    Killing it Jakob. Great video as always but your visual and video editing is insane. So good bro. I’d like to see an automation feature implemented like in GR16 but of course Pure Acid is an auv3 but still I like being able to automate in Standalone mode. Still is unbelievably fun and useful. I bought pure acid on your recommendation, I'm a trumpet player not a producer. Its a metronome on crack. Its like improv on a treadmill. I will have to find a full tutorial. I'm done with confusing DAWs like Abelton. Im here to play. If I wanted perfection I'd overdub .wav files from vintage analog gear, software should be a game.

      Haha, yeah I wanted to break the “Genre specific” concept thing that always comes up as a topic whenever a product is rereleased with a genre specific name. Yeah Jakob❗I still program and jam Rebirth. I have a Behringer TD-3 and Roland TB-3 Touch Bassline. I can't imagine not doing a little Acid now and then, lol.
    Recently, I started learning and using AUM and Audiobus. Thanks for sharing your vids and knowledge. I'm feeling like a kid in a candy store. I sometimes have technical issues using Rebirth in conjunction with the two.
    But, while I work to debug this Rebirth, AUM, Audiobus, Loopy combo, pure acid is a welcomed addition to my arsenal. You are the man❗

Thank you, for the instruction. I am just a keyboard player and know nothing about programming or apps so this helps a lot. I also love the Poison-202 synth both have great sounds. • @Pulsecode303
      @Pulsecode303 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jakob Haq The Xoxbox is one of the better 303 imitators, for sure! I had one a couple of years ago and had a lot of fun with it, for some reason I sold it back then. Then I bought the MAM MB33 of which the formfactor and sound itself are awesome, not as close to the TB as the Xoxbox, but close enough for me, and more important, it is build like a tank and could take it with me on travels with a small audio/midi interface and sequence it with rozeta bassline, which is also an awesome app!

    • @JakobHaq

      Ableton Link! Any app that supports that sync protocol can sync over Wifi. Just look through settings in Ableton link enabled apps. Make sure WiFi is on on all iDevices and turn on Ableton link in whatever apps you want to sync. They’ll detect each other.

    • @freenfinity
      @freenfinity 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jakob Haq WOW. That simple, it just works? Ooo, it does😮 You’re a king👌💪😎 I’ve found that the link disconnects and back after while though. I have optical network.. What could be the cause, is there anything in router settings to be set in some specific way to have wifi sync work stable?

    Thanks so much for these videos Jakob! You do a fabulous job putting them together. So artistic, both musically and visually. Love your voice too :)
    Hey, I was just wondering, Is there a good alternative to 1010 Blackbox & Digitakt on the iPad? How about an alternative to MPC One? Hey since iPads can detect pressure now are there now good velocity sensitive drum pad apps on the ipad?

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much for your kind words! 🙏🏼 When it comes to 1010 Blackbox and Digitakt, there really are no true alternatives on iOS quite yet. However, for MPC like workflows I’d say that Beatmaker 3 is on top of that game. It’s bringing a lot in that department. There are also similar apps like iMachine and iMPC and they’re good, but Beatmaker 3 kicks it out of the park i comparison.
      .
      When it comes to pressure sensitivity, I can’t say. Apple removed 3D Touch for older iPads and so only new ones have it. So I’m unable to test it out unfortunately.

Love all the different camera angles and screen captures. Everything is in sync with the audio. And love how you even made a special jam session to show off all the features. I am glad to see you focus on quality content instead of quantity like youtube pretty much forces creators to do these days. Bunch of slavedrivers. Probably the best iOS Roland TB-303 and TR series music application. Sounds great, Jakob! Oh by the way, did you noticed the new Cubasis 3 app? I’ve bought it yesterday. And it’s universal now so also available on iPhone!!! The only downside could be the minimum requirement which is iOS 13. But I don’t worry. I use an iPhone 11 (it’s lovely 😊).

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I’m trying to properly research the new Cubasis 3 app so that I can make some sort of video sometime next year. I don’t want to feature until I’ve tested it completely (and right now so many people are so angry about it being a new app 😅).

    • @emiel333
      @emiel333 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jakob Haq I can understand your point. I also must try it a bit longer to make a definitive conclusion. I’m aware that most Cubasis 2 owners are upset because you have to buy Cubasis 3 for the full (€54,99) price. Another annoying fact is that the iPhone can’t restore previous made IAP purchases from Cubasis 2. Most people, including me, have an older iPad which can’t run iOS 13. I hope Steinberg will solve this cross platform problem. I’m seeing dozens of complaints and questioned about this at their website. I also made a comment but they didn’t reply yet. I’ve bought all IAP on my iPad about two months ago, and due to the fact that the restore button doesn’t work is forcing me to buy all expensive IAP fx and sounds again but this time for my iPhone. It’s ridiculous. I’ve already invested a lot on Cubasis 2 and a couple days ago Cubasis 3 and I’m very upset and frustrated about this. If there won’t come any solution, I will ask Apple to refund my Cubasis 3 purchase and will ditch steinberg DAW for the rest of my life. Sorry to bother you with this, Jakob. #steinberg #cubasis3 #iphone

    This has probably been asked and answered before, but I don’t even know how to search for it, but what microphone and software are you using in the iPad Mini(?) to record the commentary in your videos? It sounds great.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s an IK Multimedia iRig Mic (first gen). It’s a great michrophone with a good range but it doesn’t quite fit the frequency spectrum of my voice, so I’ve processed it a bit (removing bump around 200hz and pulled down on the transients in the upper 5khz range). Every mic has a special character and a lot of people miss that fact. I’ve had cases when working in studios where we went through 10 different mics for a singer only to find out that the one that suited him/her the best was a cheaper Dynamic SM58. And in some cases we had to use the most expensive neuman mic. My advice is to always try mics out in order to find the one that fits the best.

    Totally respect this developer's work. They make excellent looking and feeling apps. I just don't like a lot of the sounds that the apps push you toward. They feel corny to me. I really appreciate Jakob showing some ways to make sounds outside of the genre box it feels like you're put into with the apps.

      Thank you! I always try to ask myself “what else can be done with this” whenever I get my hands on a piece of gear or an app that is genre specific.

    Have you heard anything from the dev regarding rearranging sequences since the video has been out for a bit?

    Great tutorial/Demo as usual Jakob. As an old Acid Head what was your favourite track? I think mine was The Serpent In The Garden by The Garden Of Eden.

      Thank you! I especially loved the dark Acid Techno stuff by producers like Joey Beltran, Second Phase to name a few.

      It’s only available for iOS. I don’t know if the dev has any plans for Desktop unfortunatley.

    Great video Jakob, can this app be used for Hip Hop Rnb style of music? I use Grooverider - GR16

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, in my opinion most apps can be used for any type of genre. However if you’re looking for a workflow that os most typically used for producing RnB and Hip Hop, then Grooverider is probably what you’re looking for.

    Almost like a Korg Electribe but the ability to properly chain patterns would be absolutely essential to use it similarly like some of those older gadgets like the korg electribes, yamaha an200, or roland MC grooveboxes. Although those probably weren't any better.

    I have loaded this app into zenbeats but I can't record the sound output or midi?
    Are you running this on multiple ios devices at the same time?

    I never liked that kind of drum sequencing. Its so much better with piano roll. Isn't it? Or do people like this interface for drums?. But it's a cool app and worth it because of the sound. I never thought I would say this but the color schemes of the interface is really nice and adds a lot to the appeal. 3 Thumbs up. I use my feet for the extra thumb, but we don't have thumbs on our feet. Too bad.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually like the Drum-sequencer-type. But I do realise it might be because I grew up using that type of interface a lot and so it extremely familiar to me.
