Having a specific dogging area has worked really well for us. I taught our dog to dig there by digging there myself. Even now if I dig there he wants to dig there too. I also sometimes bury interesting things for him to dig up. It is great exercise. He never digs anywhere else
My dog and I are not fans of excessive cleanup. Is there anything they can dig in that doesn't stick in their nails and claws and fur? Or is there an agreeable and easy way to do cleanup? My dogs actually don't seem to desire a lot of digging. They do like searching for treats in the snow
