Me too. Growing up we would drive four hours from Maryland to New York to visit my Grandparents. They had HBO and the '83 intro is the one I remember. It definitely brings back a little of that childhood excitement and good times when I see it.

I remember the first time TALES FROM THE CRYPT premiered during the Summer of 1989. My father used to get the monthly HBO guide. Wouldn't you know it? That damn Cryptkeeper was on the cover! My God, seeing that rotting corpse with the missing nose scared the shit outta me as a kid. Hell, I can even recall sneaking into my parent's bedroom to watch a new episode. They used to have a viewer warning about the series. The whole TV ratings system didn't exist yet. When the announcer got to the VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED part, the camera quick pans to a giggling Cryptkeeper! God, I miss the 80's/90's...😎🇵🇷🇺🇸📽🗽🦂

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Let me paint a picture for you: My husband, Jason David, our five wonderful children- a lively trio consisting of a 3-year-old named Ben, a sweet 6-year-old named Haleigh, and an adventurous 8-year-old called Tony, along with our charming 10-year-old identical twins, Samuel and Laura. Our family ritual involved cozying up on the couch watching movies on HBO every Saturday night. Each of us with our own bowl of freshly popped corn drizzled with warm butter, a selection of candy bars, a fizzy soda pop in hand. However, during the shocking events of 9/11, my husband was away at work, leaving me at home with the children. The heartbreaking news unfolding on the television was unbearable for me. To shield my young ones from the distressing broadcasts, I swiftly gathered them, clutching their favorite toys and cuddly stuffed animals, and led them down to our cherished family movie room. Rows of bookshelves lined with a treasured collection of blank recorded HBO movies awaited us. Ben, Haleigh, Tony, Samuel, and Laura settled in to watch animated or anime movies recorded on the blank VHS tapes, providing a comforting escape from the harsh realities of the outside world. And Their Top Ten Favorite Animated and Anime Movies Are.

NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING beats the 1983 intro, a part of which starts at 2.28 and after that @3:05. The orchestral music is phenomenal. You don't have that anymore - it's all canned crap that is meant to be used and reused. As a society, we have just given up on originality and creativity in so many areas. The painstaking process that was used to create the original 1983 set, the miniatures that were hand painted to make sure they accurately represented a small town, to the camera work and angles that probably took many many hours of detailed work. The script, that dictated every second of the scenes, and ultimately a final product that was damn near perfection and awe inspiring. Those times are pretty much gone. I realize the progress is inevitable. It doesn't mean we can forget about everything we have done to get us where we are, and to celebrate those times. The people who contributed deserve it, and we certainly deserve to see from which greatness we have come.

Well said my brother. People just don't have the passion or the creativity to do anything that comes close to that 1983 intro! It is iconic and brings chills to my spine every time I see it. You think creativity is lost now, wait until AI takes over, it will really go to the toilet.

POV: it’s a rainy night and you were making pop corn for your family as ghost busters was about to air on tv. You grab the cokes and Pepsi’s and the pop corn and walk in the living room just in time for the HBO feature presentation intro to play.you sit down with your family all munching on the popcorn.all you know that this night was gonna be the night of your life

The 1983 version is the one everyone thinks of yet it only lasted until 2000, the 2000 intro was also around for 17 years, I feel as though it did not catch on as much as the 1983 intro though. The 2000 intro but was replaced in 2017 with the current intro that pays homage to the 1983 intro.
