    That was great. I liked the horn too. It looked really uncomfortable to crawl out of LOL. I recently filmed a 1931 Ford Model A owned by Terry and Kathy OBryant at Black Bear car show in Chatsworth GA

    When I saw the Pennsylvania license plate I immediately thought that car must have a dented firewall with the gas valve under the hood instead of in the cab, and it does! 😂😂

    I would honestly like to know who can't drive a Model A. They're just as simple as any other car. Unless you don't know how to drive stick.
    EDIT; I dare you to attempt to drive a Model T. Hehehe

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The_Guy Ha! If we could get our hands on a Model T, we'd definitely try, The_Guy! Our title was more of a play on words, not solely meaning many are not capable of driving a Model A, but that many do not have the opportunity to drive one. Where the challenge does present itself, however, is in starting the Model A. Those who are used to modern manual transmission cars would have a very difficult time knowing where to begin. We appreciate your comments and thanks for watching!

    • @butbaby123
      @butbaby123 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd let ya use my grandpa's 1915 T all original, license tag, paint, int, top, ect but it's been in the barn for a while and I don't really want to mess with it.

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The_Guy We hear ya. That was the case with this Model A. It hadn't been started in over a year so we weren't sure what was going to happen. Thankfully, these old Fords are based on very simple tech with only minor things that can go wrong in a typical scenario. Thanks for thinking of us on the Model T loan, though.

    • @SaintCrow97
      @SaintCrow97 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      for me, it sure would take a little bit of time to get used to it tho...I've never driven anything that old ,so i cant claim on how would it be.but Hoping to drive something like that in the future. and thanks for the video awesome video.

    Those cars also need to be started an driven at least once a week. the oil drains back into the pan and those cars tend to wear out bearings rather quickly.

      +Jim Schrom Thank you for your comments, Jim Schrom, and we hope delivery of your '30 Model A went well. We aren't sure what the exact color name is of the car in our video. However, if we find out we will post back on here for you. Thanks for watching!

    Nice Late 1931 Ford Tudor (as is mine)... Also, do the car a favor, try to drive it a few times a month... Keeping the parts moving will do wonders... Also, it's best to not turn the wheel of any car unless the car is in motion....

    • @AutoAcademics
      @AutoAcademics  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael S. Howard Thank you for the comments, Michael S. Howard. We agree, this is a nice example of a '31 Model A and that the car should be driven a little more often, but until the owner gives us his keys, we have to relive the experience through this video with everyone else. LOL And note taken on how to drive without power steering. Thanks for watching!

      You will know more about driving them than most people,
      the model T and a were different to most other cars with your accelerator in the middle and the way you select gears, probably not too hard once you get used to it, and learn on a quiet road!

  • @thomassabeldindahouse6753
    @thomassabeldindahouse6753 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please remember: by taking the next gear, wait a little time between. There is no synchro in this car. If you do not, you hear this crunch. Thats not good for the transmission 👍😊

    to me this old car is the most beautiful of all of the fords,alot of people go lala over the 32,but this roofline is the it,if it were mine I'd pull the whole engine and trans and frame out and go modern 500 horse and 4 wheel discs and put the original in the corner of the shop for people who want to know what stock looks like,damn fine ride,FORD

      I think part of the charm of this is the powertrain.
      IMO if I were to engine swap I would do a modern 4cyl, more than enough.

  • @druegillis1744

    This “driver “ is obviously a young guy who has little experience with cars not equipped with power steering. Hint:
    Get the car moving before attempting to turn the wheel. Easier on your arm muscles and the tires will thank you,!

    Don't turn the wheel when sitting still. I figured that would be kind of obvious.
    Edit: I noticed you managed to grind the gears with every shift too.

      @michaelconverse5127 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you think $10-20,000 is expensive, because that’s about what a nice Model A will cost and restorable projects are much less. Also much more than a toy these are actually really good at being cars.
