Saint Jago and Wolmer's uniforms look very sophisticated. Note how most of the better schools have smarter-looking uniforms; even the exterior of the school buildings have more sedate colors, which is good for the mental well being of the students. What you said about the Saint Jago school of long ago, shows how many of the truly poor whose parents and grandparents were enslaved and who truly deserved to be educated, were cheated out of it by corrupt school and Church officials. It reminds me of a current situation in the US where an older white ex athlete, worth tens of millions of dollars, was caught getting millions of dollars of money that was appropriated for the very poor, many of whom were black. Access to education in Jamaica appears more equitable now.
Great photos and info Alexx! Would be awesome if the enthusiasm for School and Learning today would be like those days! Still, grateful these schools mentioned have remained outstanding!!❤️🇯🇲 Way behind on the Vlogs but will catch up! You're moving so fast!!!😆
Was it that we were to really learn French and Spanish. It was always thought. I was once very good in Spanish. Looong ago.🤣😂🤣👍🏼Have a blessed 🙌 day Alex.
I can't believe that underdeveloped arcade and parking lot was the original location of Wolmers. It is a shame how they treat that part of the gift of Mr. Wolmer., even though the trust has grown immensely.
You people need to explore more country schools and come out a Kingston. What about Marymount, St Mary's High, York Castle etc. These are some excellent schools with excellent students and staff.
Titchfield High isn’t only one of the oldest but ,the location is beautiful . It’s surrounded by a beach and ,battery with cannons. Also the X back is one of the most unique uniform on the island. Located on Fort George. One Titch#💙💛💙💛💙💛💙
I went to Manning High in Savanah LA Mar...great experience and we never think of the history as we live in present preparing for the future. Slavery interrupted black history, so let's start creating new history by first unity.
Thomas Manning died and left his will years before John Wolmer. It is only because of politics and delays at the assembly that Wolmers was built before The Mannings School. Otherwise The Mannings School would be the oldest school in Jamaica.
I thought Norman Manley and Michael Manley attended Jamaica College. Joseph Manley attended Munro College. Never heard of any of the Manleys attending St. Jago.
Norman Manley started at Beckford and Smith High (St. Jago High) and then recieved a scholarship to attend Jamaica College. Michael Manly only attended Jamaica College.
@@HummingbirdJa Wights are classified as “Black” peoples now 🌝🇯🇲🏴 Poor whites were not working in Jamaica they were sent to the factories in northeast America 😏
The Manning’s School, my almamater, was founded in 1710 not 1711....so if we should go by when it was fonded, it would be the oldest high school in Jamaica.....Go Bluebloods! 👍🏾
Those schools date 📅back to 1729 and 1777 even in the 1800's was there any black kids going there, because slavery was going on and the narrator never mention black or white kids?

Seem the commentator is partial to St. Jago High School. Great reporting. Didn't know the Manleys were associated with it.
No there is just more info available
So interesting 😮✨💚💛🖤
My school was surely one of the least preferred and newest schools. I don't think I'll regret my experiences there and having learned a lot.
Blessings 🙌 Mannings High School was my area 🙌 🙏 nuff love
Blessings
What about Cornwall College? Surprised it's not among them
What about Munro College and Hampton in St Elizabeth?
think he's doing top 5 so if those schools didn't make it on the list....
Titchfield high school isn't in Free School, different locations. very informative thou.
It was originally in free school, the school later moved to Fort George Street...he was correct
Rusean for life 🇬🇦🇬🇦

Yeah. Alma Mater for my sister and grand daughter.

Keith Noel hasn’t been principal since forever lol but great content
Jamaica College, formerly Drax Free, 1797. Former students: Norman Washington Manley, Michael Manley etc...

When was Calabar open?
1912 for the children of baptist ministers
My mom went to Titchfield High School
One St. Jago🎉🎉🎉🎉
This list should include York Castle high…
Five oldest, not six
@@EliteJamaica lol even so wouldn't JC be 6?
Excelsior high won both boys & girls Champs as well
Do you have any knowledge of your history pre colonization 1551?
I went to Wolmers but Wolmers is not the oldest school in the Caribbean.
That honour belongs to Combermere in Barbados
He's doing Jamaica, how"Caribbean" reach here.
The Mannings School. Not Mannings high school thank you…
I thought Norman Manley and Michael Manley attended Jamaica College. Joseph Manley attended Munro College. Never heard of any of the Manleys attending St. Jago.
Exactly
Norman Manley started at Beckford and Smith High (St. Jago High) and then recieved a scholarship to attend Jamaica College. Michael Manly only attended Jamaica College.
Titchield high was for poor whites or indentured poor Wights 🏴🇯🇲

Really??? Interesting!!!
Correct name is Manning's School.
Proud St Jagoite! I left in 1978. Best School!!!
St jago #1
You notice that the British government never really built any schools in Jamaica
Bro Falmouth all age is the oldest school in Jamaica check the history

Good history. Extremely poor pronunciation.

I am thinking the same thing too
He mentioned that Thitcfield was established for the poor whites. Black people were not allowed to pursued an education during that time.
How could you leave out the oldest technical high school in the country 😒
