Another excellent review of a car that that I told my Mother in law to buy. Good to see physical controls with heating, manual handbrake and a 5 speed box as well.
Oh yes, sir! Normal key, nice five speed manual, normal handbrake and some physical controls for the heating and ventilation. Mr Quirk and I discussed the Picanto today, and we both agree that we miss the turbo engine.
What I can tell you Sir from my experience of buying a 2011 Kia Picanto 1. The 1.0 litre 3 cylinder engine is absolutely bulletproof no matter how hard it is driven having put 105,000 miles on between my Wife, my Daughter, my Son and myself. The 7 year Warranty is fantastic, although nothing really goes wrong. The cabin is comfortable, the seats are supportive and the heater is amazing. The gearchange is very satisfying and the brakes are some of strongest I have experienced on any car. I have experienced the automatic gearbox on a Hyundai i10 Hire Car and I can report that it is Very good indeed and not slow at all
Sir, we would like have a go in a second generation Picanto as well, but so far we have not had the pleasure. The good old Kappa II engine is super, but we would certainly prefer one with a turbo. Thank you ever so much indeed for watching and commenting.
Nice review. I really like it. Shame that the 1 litre turbo is no longer available. I note that this has an intermittent rear wiper which is something my 2018 Hyundai i10 SE lacks. It is really needed on a rainy day like that. Sad to see the Rio discontinued but the Hyundai i20 is still available. Hyundai and Kia probably don't need an overlap in B segment cars. Stellantis take note.
Sir, we liked the i10 when we drove it in 2021. The current i20 is definitely still around, and we should probably have a go in one at some point. This Picanto would have been almost perfect with that 1.0 T-GDi engine from the 2023 model I drove in June.
Good that these cars are still available, at a price, sub £10,000 not long ago . The touchscreen nonsense, and a screen for the display all not good . The previous car was much better, especially with the more powerful engines . Thanks for keeping going through the rain !
Yes, a bit more technology on this newly facelifted model to keep up with the times, I suppose. It was OK with this engine, but the turbo version was much faster.
Kia do make very good cars Joseph nice if you want a basic economic car I an sorry you say Subaru's don't sell well their they are very good maybe a lack of dealerships ? The Forester has won the top safety award since 2013 here anyway great video sorry you were in the rain again best regards Andy Allen.
Yes sir, a very good car. We will be covering the Top Ten Best-Selling Cars from last month next week, and you will doubtless see the performance of both Kia and Subaru in those videos.
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Wasn't criticising, just saying. I got the majority of it though. Again, good review. Have been watching as many 2024 Picanto reviews that I can find. I fancy a GT Line-S automatic.
Hopefully next time I attend the event, the weather will be better. I preferred the 2023 Picanto I drove earlier this year, to be honest, probably because it was a turbo.

There is a lot to be said for the simple pleasure of using an ignition key to start an engine, rather than the modern push-button stuff.
I did enjoy the fact that this car has a normal key. It made a change from everything else I drove that day...
Sir, you were really up against the weather this day!
We had to just keep going, sir, as I don't really get too many opportunities like this...

Any chance of a Renault 5 electric review?
An optimistic request, sir...

@@lloydvehicleconsulting I look forward to this Joseph thank you Andy Allen.
Coming up towards the end of next week.
17 grand sir? That sounds a little dear...or is it just me. At least there's some analogue controls.
The price of new cars has very much increased over the past few years. That is actually reasonably competitive for something like this these days.
Good review, but struggled to hear what you were saying most of the video. Shame that.
The weather was absolutely appalling and I had under half an hour to film the video.
