    DETROIT (AP) - Toyota is recalling about 280,000 pickup trucks and SUVs in the U.S. to fix a transmission problem that can let the vehicles creep forward while in neutral.
    The recall covers certain Toyota Tundra pickups and Lexus LX 600 SUVs from the 2022 through 2024 model years. Also included are 2023 and 2024 Toyota Sequoia SUVs.
    Toyota said Wednesday that certain parts of the vehicles’ automatic transmissions may not immediately disengage when shifted into neutral. That can transfer some engine power to the wheels. The vehicles could creep forward at low speeds on flat surfaces if the brakes aren’t applied, increasing the risk of a crash.

      Question regarding sa recall na yan. Applied po ba yan sa pinas? kaso wala naman nagbebentang toyota tundra amd sequoia (except galing sa import to ph). Paano po yan ma-aaply sa pinas if di nagbebenta toyota ph ung tundra and sequoia? And same po ba ang makina sequoia/tundra ung hilux pick-up and fortuner? paki-explain briefly po. Salamat

      yup tama naman siya if ayaw mo makadagdag sa stress ng automatic transmission mo eh wag ka papalit palit ng gear especially on a stop and go traffic unless matagalan or need mo talaga magpark sandali mas mabuti naka neutral vs park kasi ang park eh if naka off na ang engine dapat gamitin then dapat din naka neutral muna before ilagay sa park kasi isa din yan sa nakakasira ng a/t ang biglang lagay sa park kaya pag hindi mo linagay sa neutral muna eh matigas ilagay sa drive pag start mo ng sasakyan at yan din ang dahilan maputol yong pin sa luob ng a/t mo..nasa sayo nalang yan kung ilalagay mo sa neutral at handbrake para kung magkamali ka man ng apak instead of brake eh na accelerator mo hindi uusad at mabangga ka..pero yon yung sinabi nya na less stress sa transmission mo kung naka drive lang a/t..basta mas mainam magpalit ng transmission filters at transmission fluids at sundin ang manual..kung sinabi 40000 or 80000 or 4 years whichever comes first dapat d mo paabutin ng kilometers if naka 4 years na magpalit ng transmission fluid then filter para ma alagaan ang transmission kasi pag nag down na ng a/t eh hindi na same yan at madali nalang talaga masira yan vs manual..kahit sinong mekaniko tanungin mo mas maselan talaga masira ang a/t kaysa manual kaya mas mabuti alagaan ng maayos lalo na pagpapalit ng fluid at filter.

    Older automatic transmissions(4 or 5 speed) kapag medyo matagal na nakahinto ay advisable na ilagay sa neutral para mabawasan ang stress sa 1st gear kasi kahit i preno o i handbrake yan ay pinipilit pa din nya umabante at ramdam nyo din yan boss kaya may tendency na uminit lalo ang ang transmission kasi nga naka engage pa din ang clutch kaya nga bumababa ang rpm kasi nahihirapan ang makina dahil nasa drive ka pero nakahinto ka. Kapag naka neutral ka, hindi naka konekta ang transmission sa makina (kaya nga neutral di ba?) So di mo din kailangan ng umiikot na lube. Ganun din sa manual kapag naka neutral ay di din nag circulate ang langis nya. (Kaya nga neutral di ba?)
    Sa mga cvt na tranny kahit naka drive yan kahit matagalang hinto ay ok lang kasi iba design ng transmission nya kaya nga walang neutral sa mga scooter na cvt kasi kapag nakahinto ka ay parang naka neutral din sya. Sa cvt drive at handbrake ok lang kahit matagal na hinto.
    Sa 4,5 o 6 speed a/t ay delikado sa trapik yang naka drive at preno kasi kapag di maganda pagkaka handbrake ay umuusad yan paunti unti o kaya makaligtaan mo na nakaapak ka lang sa preno at naiangat mo, malamang mabundol mo yung nasa unahan mo.
    Depende po sa klase ng automatic transmission po yan at tama naman po kayo nasa driver yan kung ano gusto nyo kasi sasakyan nila yan. Wag na lang pagusapan na parang gigil karamihan sa neutral😁 nilagay yang neutral jan di lang sa purpose ng itutulak yan. Basta kapag neutral ibig sabihin naka disconnect sa engine ang transmission(umiikot ang flywheel pero walang activity ang mga clutch at drive gears)

    A/T pero believe ako sa lecture nyo dahil mekaniko ka at may shop ka at tinatanong mo ang nasiraan kung ano style nya sa pag drive kung bakit ganoon lang kadali nasisira ang kanyang sasakyan. Lalo na may company's projector ilutrations kang inipresentar kung ano ang karapat dapat gawin ng driver. And most of all salute ako sayo, may harmonious attitude ka sa may mga sariling nalalaman sa A/T engine. 😘

    17 Years po ako sa Qatar using automatic vehicle at immediately handbrake at
    neutral kapag tumigil ako at
    naibenta ko sasakyan ko ng
    wala pa rin problema
    transmission. Madalas
    akong napapaidlip sa traffic light at nagigising ako sa busina ng nasa likod . Noong driver pa ako sa
    Edsa madalas umusad sasakyan ko kasi naka drive at nakatapak lang ako sa brake napapaidlip na pala ako kaya madalas muntik akong makabanga, kaya for me Safety First, kaya handbrake at neutral, kanya kanyang style lang naman, yun lang po.
    umuusad na pala sasakyan ko at muntik bumangga
    wala naman naging
    problema sa transmission. Ugali ko ang Handbarke at Neutral immediately kapag nag stop ako mas safe kasi yun for me, experience ko kasi madalas napapaidlip ako sa traffic light at nagigising ako sa busina ng nasa likod at noon kasing nasa Edsa pa ang biyahe ko

    There are 3 types of automatic transmission.
    1) torque converter( including cvt)- eto ang mga car na di mo Kailangan gumamit na ng Nuetral naka idle ang engine. U can use the nuetral Pag hindi umaandar o itatabi o itulak mo sa tabi. Kailangan mo Lang gumamit ng hand brake o foot brake Pag nakahinto while nasa Drive mode. Walang din langis mag overheat Dahil my cooling system eto na nagpapalamig ng langis just like your radiator.
    2)robotise automatic (semi manual )- eto ay Puede gamitan ng Nuetral. Mostly sa mga old automatic ka parehas nito. Para hindi masira and bearing sa transmission or iinit sa loob ng transmission.
    3) full electric hybrid cvt automatic- eto
    Ay hindi ginagamitan ng nuetral
    Pag naka hinto ka sa mga traffic.
    Stay Drive Lang Dahil Walang transmission na gumagana Dahil automatic mag shift eto sa electric( hybrid). Patay ang engine.
    Ang transmission ay controlado ng braking system kahit naka drive ka Walang puersa o langis na iinit sa transmission nito.
    Mostly sa old na automatic 20-30 years plus iyan ang mga old car na Pag Hindi mo gagamitan ng nuetral nanginginig. Semi manual or robotise automatic. My manual shifting eto. Kaya maliliit ang mga nag comments dito sa paliwanag mo kabayan.

    Para hindi kayo malito sa mga automatic cars.
    Try kayo mag compare nito.
    1) torque converter( include cvt) na automatic
    2) robotise automatic/ semi manual
    3) electric/ hybrid cvt automatic .
    Mostly sa modern automatic ay
    Mga full hybrid plug in hybrid mild hybrid full electric and stop start.

      @@ronitomoto5589 check your car if robotise automatic transmission DCT ( dual clutch transmission, manual and automatic). Mostly sa old car ng my DCT transmission or robotise transmission. Iyan iyon gumagamit ng Nuetral. Dahil sa sensitive ang transmission clutches gears bearings nito(Jerking slip vibration).
      Myroon parin gumamit till now ng robotise transmission DCT sa mga high performance car but iyong nga madaling masira. Dahil sa Pag launch launch nito. Matindi sa maintenance sila. Pakadyot kadyot na arankada.
      Kaya iwasan ninyo iyan mga model na iyan. Mga luxury sports cars eto. Mahal
      Pa Europeans cars and American cars.
      Kaya mahina sila sa reliability.
      But driving and performance doon Lang sila magaling. Pag gusto mabutas bulsa at wallet mo. Okey Lang Pag practical ka sa mga boring car ka.😅

Kaya na panood ko video ni sir about sa park ba or neutral at dahil sa sinabi no idol ginawa ko mag drive mode sa mga trafic at naka preno lang ako mga ilang lingo nag jejerk na eco ko dahil sa habit na ginawa ko kung di ko nabasa comment mo di ko maiisip na di naman pala sa lahat ng trany advisable yung sinabi nya sana sinabi nya din na pag naka dct trany mag neutral nalang nasira pa tuloy trany ng eco ko. 😢

    I agree with you. I’d rather step on the brake in stop & go traffic than shift from drive to neutral to drive in order to minimize friction of clutches during frequent shifting of neutral to drive. Wear & tear is minimized on the AT with your driving style. 👍

      Kaya nga distance is very important at you have the option to put it to manual kung bumper to bumper na. Pero maganda pla tlga sa transmission pag palaging nka "Drive" at apakan yung break pedal pag traffic. I'll do this once makuha na namin yung bagong A/T na sasakyan. I'm already used to manual vehicles so it's impossible for me na mabitawan yung break pedal. Unless it's wet inside and very slippery.

    Bro, Na educate mo ako ng husto sa paliwanag mo. Sa ngayon 78 yrs old na ako. Napaka tagal ko ng driver kahit hanggang ngayon nag drive pa rin ako. Ang sasakyan ko ngaron ay fortuner mali pala ang practice ko na palaging nagneutral sa trafic.
    Ngayon grabi ang natutuhan ko sa mga paliwanag mo. Maraming salamat.

    Tama naman, recommended na d na kailangan ilagay sa N while stopping in traffic light. Less action less mistakes. For instance naunahan naapakan ang gas pedal at naka neutral pa then shift sa D.

    Para wala kayong away!! Ako na sasagot. Ginagamit lang Ung neutral kapag emergency Ung sasakyan mo and hindi sya pweding nakastart tapos 2matakbo kasi masisira Ung mataas na gear ok. And tama ung ainasabi ni randy makinig ka sa mga auto tec!!! - auto tec from California!!!

      been using neutral when approaching traffic light or slight downward roads and my 2007 suv's transmission was never been repaired or replaced.
      if di talaga pwede, sana naglagay ng safety mechanism para di ma shift sa neutral while driving.
      Sino ka para ikaw ang sasagot?

    Does the same principle you discussed applies to wet dual clutch transmissions?
    My take is, its ok to stay on drive when stuck in traffic- it will just make your brakepads and brakelights wear out faster.
    Also the car engineers and manufacturers put a Neutral slot on the shift lever- so lets use it. Theres a good reason for that.

    I have been driving since then for almost 40 yrs... The fact, Base on my experienced it is not advisable to shift the gear to Neutral gear position in Automatic Tansmission. You can shift it once you reach your destination.If you put it on Drive position it will damage your gear box...

    Mr. Randy isa ako sa marami mong taga subaybay. Gusto ko kasi magkaroon ng kasagutan sa problema na na encounter ko when I was driving home to Batangas from Sorsogon. Pagsapit ko sa Quezon naramdaman ko sa aking Pajero 2001 FM na bigla na lamang ako nagkaroon ng vibration every time na mag stop ako with my gear on drive position and I have till now. Ok naman ATF, bago lahat ng underchassis support ko newly calibrated ang Pajero ko at smooth naman tumakbo at maganda ang automaticity niya. I’ve already consulted experienced mechanics but no one gave me a direct answer. I messaged you with the thought that you might have already encountered this problem in one of your clients. I could compare the vibration to the manual transmission when our foot timing on the clutch is not synchronized with the accelerator. Hope to hear/read interesting response from you.     When you stop put it in nuetral but engage the hand break..always..the to go relish hand break then start the drive...many driver was just use nuetral but forget to use handbreak..so every time at the stop position use nuetral and handbreak...

    Sa dami ng napanood kong vlog na mekaniko sa inyo lang ako naniniwala dahil naibabahagi ninyo ang expertise nyo ng tapat hindi tulad ng mga vlog puro siraan pati yang real ryan nung simula okay pa pero toxic na ngayuon puro patulan, siraan at awayan na ng mga mekaniko though totoo at madami talaga mapagsamantalang mekaniko.     Sir ako din bat andami nag comments related sa neutral, yong ibang comments are obviously typical driver that are not mechanically inclined di nila naintindihan yong point mo dun sa previous video mo. More on what their driving instructor says, manual or road safety practices related and that is their basis. Your demonstration of the cause and effect from neutral to drive with that model of cars (hi ace/fortuner) is very clear but still why some simply coudn't understand that, or maybe they are generalizing, na lahat ng automatic will perform or act the same like the CVT, hybrid, semi auto and 6-8 gears transmission. Siguro Sir Randz it is best to have a video basic differences ng mga ibat ibang transmission na ito to check their cars is equipped the same.     Mabuting Araw Kuya. Maraming salamat sa kaalaman na ibinabahagi mo. Huwag mong intindihin ang mga busher mo. I agree sa recommendation mo na iwasan mag neutral during traffic. Kapag alam kong mahaba ang trafic dito sa Rail Road Winnipeg, dahil maginaw naman dito, pinapatay ko ang Engine. Nilalagay ko sa PARK position. Pero kung saglit lang, I prefer to stay Drive position and press BRAKE pedal

    Tama po ung sinasabi ni idol randz na pagnakahinto ka sa traffic pwede nakadrive maiwasan ang friction ng mga clutch disc at ng mga pressure plate madami po yan, dhil hindi umiikot nakarest sila.
    Ngunit ung piston seal naman ang napwepwersa at nagkaroon leaking dahil sa pagkadamage ng oring seal sa mga piston ng mga clutch hub dun ngkakaroon friction na my pressure ngkikiskisan sila kaya na susunog

    The basic principle of AT mechanism is oil pressure composed of diaphragm. They shifted automatically based on pressure directly proportion of RPM and gear differentials. Sir randy you are on the right track. Carry-on and don't listen to a shallow river or empty can. Noisy is shallow. I called them Inutile people.

    I salute you Sir for explaining it well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and opinion. Sabi nga your car, your rules. But for me mas comfortable kung rest ko foot by putting it on neutral. Bahala na yung tranny. So far wala naman naging tranny issue sa mga sasakyan ko at naging sasakyan ko maliban sa ford eco sports.

    everytime na magpapalit ka ng gear kambyo like D,N or R, nagdidisengage ang engange ang mga clutch. syempre dun ako sa D lang kapag nag drive ako kasi kung parati kang palit ng palit ng gear from D to N tapos N to D, mas mabilis ang wear ang mga clutch
