dude this is the best explanation I've seen for this problem yet. the diagram you iteratively drew out for the process with the height/left/right arrays really was so intuitive the way you did it, you rock thanks so much.
Because we need to get the Maxmuim height for the right wall so we need to walk from right to left to get the right value from that direction, if we walk from left to right that's mean we calculating the left wall again.
