Okay so I just watched it. Luckily I caught myself on that and during editing I had put a title saying do not use propane or butane torch The heat gun will probably be a lot better. I should have left that out of the video So I hope nobody would try that.
They are absolutely terrible. after a recent rain I opened the fuel door and observed water pooled on top of the trap door. I had to blot it out with a dry paper towel trying not to push against the trap door. There is no telling how much water has penetrated the trap door.
@@dixiedewful I noticed my reply never went through 4 months ago sorry about that. Yes such a terrible design, But this cap will keep rain and wash water and dust from accumulating on top of the first door.
I agree, I did just find a push on cap that someone is selling on Amazon, he made them on a 3D printer. I just received it a few days ago and it is a perfect fit. A little tuff to get off, very snug fit, but thats OK. As long as keeps dust and rainwater out of the system.
@@HowtowithPaulHenderson Awwwww thank you so much. I have a brand new 2024 Chevrolet Trax. I've been looking for a gas lock cap Or anything to fit around on it to look like it's locked. But I'll check out the link you sent me 🙂 Thank you again 😁
It does have a locking mechanism, it's not a strong lock but it will hold it in place. It does give it the appearance of a locking gas cap of the past. I still use it as of today even though it is getting a bad rap it's better to use it than not, since it will keep wash water, rain water and dust from entering the system.

Not too sure telling somebody to use a propane or butane torch on a fuel system is a very bright idea.
No it's not, I hope nobody would try that, I think I mentioned a heat gun after that.....I have to watch it again to see if I did.

@HowtowithPaulHenderson Can confirm, my truck has blown up, and I'm stranded in the middle of nowhere. Please don't use propane anyone.

Help us find a replacement that does away with it all together like I don't know, maybe a screw on cap. This is a horrible design!

Why does it have a lock?

It’s better than nothing
Totally agree, plus it will keep rain and dirt out of the cap area
