    What are some of your favorite DPi moments?

      Idk where to begin lol, and I don’t want to just say “every WTR wins and their Rolex 24 wins”

      I think one of the underappreciated moments is the 2019 race at Road America. Green flag, for the entire race, with Acura and Mazda going hand to hand all race long, just for it to become a second rendition of the 2012 ALMS race there with Honda vs. Mazda all over again. Cadillac if I remember correctly got screwed by BoP, but I think the race really showed the competition that these different manufacturers would have. I might be biased since I was there in person, but it truly was a spectacular finish, i think it was the closest of the DPi era. Could be wrong, was just over 2 tenths for the lead though!
      Some other notable moments I think were 2020 Rolex 24, 2021 Sebring 12 hrs, and of course, the first race. The class really started off with a bang, and that bang continued all the way for 6 years til the final 10 minutes of Petit Le Mans this year. An absolutely insane class, and all I can say is well done IMSA! Hope GTP is even just a fraction as good as DPi was!

    Felt the same way with LMP1 being phased out... it is truly a sad end to an era. But I am happy that there is going to be more cross over between WEC and IMSA

    • @OumuamuaOumuamua
      @OumuamuaOumuamua ปีที่แล้ว

      @opticalslay3r783 I don’t think so, ALMS was created to be separate from WEC but to have similar racing to it in America, which that idea is still carried on to today after the merger into imsa

    • @OumuamuaOumuamua
      @OumuamuaOumuamua ปีที่แล้ว

      @opticalslay3r783 they might have, but it would have been extremely difficult since imsa doesn’t follow fia rules and processes

    Have to say amazing video man. What a wonderful era of top level IMSA prototypes it was. These cars will always have a soft spot for me since 2017 was the first season I truly got into IMSA and I am sad to see it go but LMDh is a great way to continue it.

    The first time i ever heared of DPi was back in grid 2019 wich featured the cadillac and the acura. I was a big fan of how the acura looked and sounded like (the Cadillac only had a good sounding engine IMHO). They were pretty fun to drive in the game. However, when looking up more IMSA stuff, i came across the nissan and, my new favorite, the mazda (especially in that gorgeous bordeaux red).
    It's a shame we lose the class but look at all the good stuff we get in return! I'm certainly excited for what's the come starting 2023 with LMDH and LMH!

    Honestly, never really understood the US side of racing, especially since I grew up thinking all we had was NASCAR and really OLD looking Indycars. Ever since DtS came out, my interest has risen with all forms of racing, and I really think my generation of American's missed out on growing up with motorsports. This was a great video describing why endurance racing is so important for not just racing culture, but for markets that need to build better, more reliable products. You got a new sub out of me!

    I'm excited to see possibly up to 20+ cars at some of the bigger races in the US and Europe. Once all manufacturers join it will be a tremendous era in the top class of sports car racing...as long as one group doesn't get bop'd into the ground

    I simply believe LeMans didn't want our cheap V8 cars going over there and whipping their mega buck makes at their own game . Remember when Chevy busted down to a lesser GT class , they made Chevy cut the power in their cars so it wouldn't destroy the class it was being put into .

    Started following IMSA 2/3 years ago, and got to see the DPIs the first time I attended an actual race, Watkins Glen in ‘21. The difference in speed compared to the GT cars is astounding, and it was awesome to witness a victory for Mazda. I’ve loved the DPIs since I’ve gotten into IMSA racing and I’m sad to see them go, but the LMDh era looks like it’s gonna be a worthy replacement!

    The only race with character to it from DPi era was Rolex 24 2018. That weekend was awesome. I know the Cadillacs dominated the latter half for a while until the final few hours which many don't like but that race is what endurance sports car racing supposed to be. Speed, endurance, domination.
