He placed 3rd place in the league after his first season, and 2 cup finals. 65 injuries this season, with 35 defender combinations in 47 games. No consistency. Give him AT LEAST another season. And "fans" complaining about transfers, Antony, Eriksen, Casemiro etc was not ETH's top picks that he wanted fyi. The only top pick that ETH got has been Mason Mount and he has been injured.

@@adimudiraj it's a no brainer, we've improved the way we play, the season we're having is the same season liverpoo had last season. The PROBLEM is injuries and the media know that but they're choosing to ignore it, to push an agenda(Get ETH sacked, so United would hire a British manager). And these brainless fans are feeding into it. The most ironic thing is, if ETH was still at Ajax he'd be the ideal candidate for the job. It's crazy how ETH is getting all this abuse and these times he's lifted a league title more recent than the club that apparently is too big for him. Fun fact before ETH was appointed, United went six years trophy less, not so much as a piss cup won, while ETH was knocking out teams like Juve and Madrid in the UCL and winning league after league with Ajax.

Despite the shambolic turbulent season we've had its mainly down to the players bottling it throwing games & trying to get yet another manager the sack. Sure Ten Hag isn't perfect made mistakes etc but he's not the biggest issue within United. I think he still deserves another year working under a proper footballing structure then take it from there. Hopefully a good portion of the squad gets sold & we recruit smartly aswell as continue to bring youth through then let's see what happens
I hope INEOS stick with him. We need him. For once give a manager more time to work his magic. Instead of wanting him to somehow have playing the first role when we've been nothing but the shadow of ourselves for more than a freaking decade. We ain't it anymore, Copenhagen beat us in UCL. The over-performance of last year and getting 75 points and 3rd place in the league, plus two cup finals and a QF appearance in Europe has bought him at least to see out his contract imo.
This season has been a disaster, and he isn't free from criticism. Pre-season was awful and there was confusion about our signings, our best team/formation, and what the plan was going into the season. We started super poorly and it wasn't a surprise to anyone who saw pre season.
I think our biggest issue was not buying a proven striker, not reinforcing CM and CD enough. All our old midfielders got worse and we sold two of the best performers last year in Fred (key goals, lots of energy and ball winning) and even sabitzer who was often injured but rarely played poorly when fit). In defense shaw hasn't played, malacia never played, Martinez and varane have missed like 75% of the season. AWB levels have dropped. Only Dalot improved. Evans was picked up because we don't have funds but even he has over-perfomed imo.
As good as onana is in passing he doesn't have outlets who can take the ball and build out of the back so he is punting long like ddg. His shot saving is solid but he also has made mistakes that have cost us in huge games. Confidence is everything and we haven't even given him a set back 4 to work with and build confidence.
Sir Jim has been very clear, we have had great managers since Sir Alex and yet they have all failed. There are structural and organizational reasons why they have all had a crap second season, so it's not all the managers fault and we need to put in experts to right the ship. This will only help the manager by identifying the right players and staff to help build a great squad. Only then can we assess the managerial position at a later time.
Right now the main problem isn't the manager, it's the lack of depth and quality in the squad (although he doesn't get a pass of poor tactics and lack of rotation for players in poor form). Too many injuries, yes, but also inflated wages are not reflective of the return on investment (quality) on the pitch. Our best finisher is on loan at Granada. Our "star" winger has been crap 3 seasons and is on loan. We have a 40M player in dvb who can't even get a game in the mid table bundesliga. We are not putting out teams worth the money we have spent and it's showing in the results. Relying on academy teenagers and rasmus to win games is a joke for the money the club have spent. We need better experts building the squad (there are good deals out there, we don't need to buy old stars and castaways nor overspend on potential) and I hope we get the start of that this summer after we clear the overpaid underworked from our wage bill. We need a well thought out strategy and need to identify the next big successes before they cost an arm and a leg.
Case in point, Cole Palmer wasnt cheap but Brighton knew he was gonna be huge. Chelsea knew because they've bought all of Brighton's key scouts. Cole looks like a 100M player now with 20 goals in the league alone. The right strategy and right scouting will dig us out of this hole faster than we may realize. We need at least one forward, we need a LB, 2 CB and arguably two midfielders. A lot of work needs to be done but we can turn this around next season. Up the reds!!
A lot of facts spoken here^ but Greenwood's at Getafe not Grenada and I'd go so far as to say we need a right back, left back, 2 centre backs minimum, 1 holding midfielder minimum, a proven striker, on the assumption that Rashford and Garnacho can hold down the left wing spot, I'd say we don't NEED a left winger, but we definitely need a right winger. We also need 1-2 centre mids depending on if Mctominay goes.
