As the setting sun cast its golden glow upon the horizon during my latest outing, I witnessed Ballycotton in a new light. But what unexpected treasures did I uncover amidst the familiar scenery? And how did a moment of discovery reshape my perspective on landscape photography?

I re-visit locations many times during the year. The changing of the seasons and the time of day, weather conditions etc, etc always make for a different experience each and every time. One of my favourite local country parks near where I live is amazing in winter with the frozen loch. In summertime it is also incredible due to the different flowers and plants, plus the amount of different bird and animal species keeps it fresh and interesting. Brown geese, swans, robins, kingfishers, herons, ducks, red squirrels etc etc. Never a dull moment, for certain! 😀

When you stumble upon spots like these, my friend, it'd be downright silly not to keep coming back. And let me tell you, it's worth it every single time, especially when you're guaranteed to capture such fantastic images such as these. Weather and lighting can shift in the blink of an eye, making each visit unique. That's the beauty of it-no two photos will ever have quite the same vibe. Have a great weekend D 🙏🙏🙏

That last shot is amazing Darren. But just imagine being in that same location at blue hour or later to get the beacon from the lighthouse and the dark rocks, reflections, and stars?
Thank you very much Mike, it’s east facing so not ideal and would you believe not only is the lighthouse black in colour but it only has the faintest red LED as a light 🤷♂️🤷♂️
