Ya we had a good ride. He was a nice oak and came to appologise afterwards for cutting me off in T1 haha. Even though it was a completely fine pass for me, maybe a bit of a block pass, but on camera doesnt look very close.
Has anyone that you know experienced any issues with the quickshifters on their current model Street Triples ? The quickshifter on my 2024 became a quitshifter today and stopped working. It cannot up or down shift as a quickshifter with TSA enabled, but manual shifting works normally. This happened after only 1,800 kilometers / 1,100 miles of limited careful use. I have seen some indication on TH-cam of other owners having some issues. One person said the shift sensor was updated on the latest model, so I'm wondering if the new units are causing issues that did not exist on prior models.
Yeah a few guys in our club with 23/24 models have had issues as well as a few on the forums and reddit. Unfortunately it does seem fairly common and at lower mileage :( Trip to the dealer to either update or replace/fix it seems.
Just an update on the quickshifter problem - I had my bike in for a diagnostic check today, which confirmed a failure of the sensor in the quickshifter. So they're ordering a replacement from England that I hope will be more reliable than the original. I previously mentioned that I had to buy my bike from the nearest Triumph dealer 250 kilometers away in Bangkok. Fortunately, when I bought the bike I made it part of the deal to have it serviced near where I live. The Triumph dealership owner also owns a location about 30 kilometers from me that used to be a Kawasaki big bike dealership. They stopped selling Kawasaki bikes there a while back due to low sales volume, but they still use the location for selling small bikes and scooters, and for doing minor service work on big bikes. When I need minor service for my Street Triple, the Triumph dealer sends a mechanic at a pre-arranged date and time to that location where my bike can be serviced. For major service work though, I need to have the dealer's transporter truck take it to Bangkok to have the work done there. This quickshifter replacement is considered a minor service job, so I am able to have the work done much closer to home.
@@rtg1018 Thanks for the update! Im glad they are replacing your quickshifter. A friend of mine just had the quickshifter on his yellow 2024 die as well unfortunately. Also quite low kms. Very nice of the dealership to arrange the mechanic for your work to be done closer to home. Great service.
In my bike's case, there seems to be some correlation between temperature and the failure of the sensor. For the last couple of rides, after disabling and re-enabling the TSA setting, from a cold start the quickshifter worked for the first part of each ride before failing. It seemed that as the bike got completely warmed up, increasing temperature eventually got to the sensor and caused it to stop working. You might not think that the sensor would get that hot being external to the engine, but being connected through the shifting mechanism and being in the hot air stream coming off the engine and exhaust, heat does eventually get to it.
Do you practice blipping the throttle manually while simultaneously using the front brake, clutch and down shifting? In this track video I don't see any movement of your wrist or hear a blip as you brake and downshift into corners. I understand that the 2017-19 Street Triple RS does not come with an auto-blipper, and I wonder if the quickshifter only works for upshifts, but not downshifts? With my 2024 Street Triple that has an auto-blipper with the up/down quickshifter, rather than doing it the more automated way every time, I often prefer to manually brake, clutch, blip and downshift simultaneously just to keep in practice and because to me it is more rewarding to master that skill.
Hey! I dont down blip on the track as the slipper clutch on these bikes is very good so there isnt really any need to match the revs when slowing down. The triple doesnt really have that much engine braking either so not much benefit to the down blip. I do do it on the road somethimes though but mainly because it sounds cool, but again, there isnt really a need with the slipper clutch. On the 24' model, you should rather let the ECU do the blipping as its programmed to blip the correct amount of revs to get the smoothest downshift with minimal interuption. By doing it yourself you essentailly taking a longer than the bike would do the same thing for not much benefit. It is a good skill to have though if you ride other bikes like big twins, or older bikes that dont have a decent slipper clutch.
I agree that it takes longer to manually do the process, although I have been practicing this for a long time, so I am adept and can do the shift smoothly, quickly, and with just the right amount of blip, so there's no unnecessary over-revving. Since I do all my riding on the road, it is not necessary to be as quick on the downshift as you might benefit from on the track. However, when I am riding at a very brisk pace, I do use the quickshifter with the auto-blipper to take advantage of the reduced time for the process. I have seen comments from other experienced riders with Street Triples that over-use of the quickshifter can lead to additional wear and tear on the transmission in time. That is one of the reasons I do a lot of manual shifting. Your thoughts on that? Can you confirm if your bike has the quickshift function for the downshift?
@@rtg1018 I see ok, the yes on the road it will be fine. In terms of the gearbox wear, thats kind of an old mechanics story thats carried over from the early days of down blippers. The gearboxes are designed to be used with the ECU down blip and are cut in a way that aids in smooth downshifts. My 2018 does not have a down blipper. I tried fitting a 2020+ shift assist to my 2018 bike, but its not compatible. I also found that the 2018 gearbox isnt cut or optimised for an auto down blipper either so a retro fit or pggy back system wouldnt be a good idea.

@DarkRiderMotovlogs that is very kind of you, thank you so much! going to do my first ever trackday on a bike 15 may at Circuit Zolder in belgium. loved the vid!
@@Kortec_Racing Not a problem! Sorry I see the formatting in my previous message was a bit jumbled up but download the manual and youll be good to go! Awesome enjoy Zolder! That looks like an awesome track! Thanks for watching :D
Was a very packed track day, last one for the year and all groups were full. Loads of traffic and lots of slow riders that joined A group for the first time. Pretty chaotic day with around 10 crashes, 5 in A group alone. Not a great representation of a normal A group day.
The Triumph sounds awesome :D It's amazing the guy didn't hear/feel that loose exhaust scraping on turns!
Thanks! Ya sounds so good! No idea how they didnt see or hear that exhaust!
Holy Exhaust System! Held on by a "thread"! @ 5:13
Lekker back and forth with the ZX6. Looking good.
