Talking to someone on social media is nothing like real life. So that is a massive issue also your phone uses filters so meeting face to face is not going to go well.
I quit doom scrolling on social media and now I’m a published author with two more books in the works. What annoys me about phones is everyone texts. When you call someone they don’t answer, but text them and you get a response almost instantly.
On average, people will wait several hours to days to respond back to texts. It's most likely laziness and "I have better things to do than talk to said person" when that is clearly false.
I work as a substitute teacher (plan on being a full time teacher when possible). Most students have very bad attention spans and cannot socialize like us or before (saying this as an older gen Z borderline millennial if that’s the correct terminology). Social media is doing more harm than good in my observations. We are going to have a large group of young people who will be unguided and no matter how hard you try to help them they just don’t care. They are too busy seeing what a celebrity/influencer is doing who doesn’t care about their existence. The self-entitlement most high school aged students have is atrocious. I completely get it that it’s human nature but it’s getting worse. The amount of times I have to tell students to put their phones away during a lesson is inexcusable.
That's interesting. Teachers in school used to take away people's phones for using them in class. Are Teachers not allowed to take away phones anymore for the period anymore?
@@AmaryxGamesYT I remember this too when I was a student (also went to a private school). They made us put our phones in door pockets in the closet. Where I work, it's on a case-by-case basis and teachers are apparently allowed to regulate their own rules. Even if I were to try to take their phone away, they will either not listen or will still give you trouble as a result of taking their phone away. Want to contact the parents? Good luck, they either respond and nothing changes, or they outright ignore the issue. On top of that, it's becoming more and more common to blame the teacher by default for a student's grade. When I was younger, the teacher was always right. While there were issues at times with this, it seemed to work well for me and others in our generation. Parents want to be their children's friends as opposed to a parent figure which doesn't help the situation either. I had a student one time causing disruptions for no reason (he had been doing this for several days). I eventually reached my point of patience with him and had to call security on him. The only "punishment" he got was sitting with the assistant principal and doing his classwork there. While that helped keep the class quiet, the accountability wasn't really evident. and now imagine having a student or two in each class who struggles with accountability. The cellphone and social media are agitating the situation which is why I cross my fingers that TikTok gets banned (the most common app students use during class). Though I know for certain some other social media will take over and be just as problematic.
@@AmaryxGamesYTI go to a big ass school and it’s like if they even see it it’s straight to the office for the day and the punishments get worse and worse. This year a lot of schools are really hammering down on phone usage in class
IT REALLY IS THAT DAMN PHONE 😭 It’s sad to see how many people (even myself at times) just get stuck on their phones. I actually deleted tiktok and X this past week, and wow I’ve been so much more productive
I'm pretty much done with Smartphones at this point. I remember when I used to just use my computer/laptop. My addiction wasn't nearly as bad as it is now. I'm pathetic. 🤣
Funny enough I was also born 1998. I love playing games in the computer but it was still balanced back then where it's up to you whether you like to play outside or inside. It was great to be born during those years. People use the internet to escape the real world and do their best to get along with other people or rather have fun with them. I miss the meme wars back then on FB when they finally allowed us to comment with pictures xD
Great video, Amaryx! Twitter has a bad effect on my mental health and sometimes makes me question my self-worth, so I might end up deleting my account there someday. Right now, the only social media I enjoy using is Facebook, as I use it to talk to friends and certain groups.
I never even started social media. I dont have anything besides a youtube account. I am baffled that people care so much about it, and ive seen people let it consume their entire being.
Same here. I get occasional eyebrow raises when someone new finds out I rarely spend time on conventional social media (exception of TH-cam). Sometimes we need to remind them that humanity has been here longer than social media by a long margin but everything just HAS to be digital.
I have a girlfriend and if I don’t check my phone and don’t have it on me for hours on end, she’ll get mad at me for not seeing the text. Well, I’m hard-working man in his early 20s trying to work for a living trying to figure out life
I was born in the early 2000's and my first consoles were the gamecube and playstation 2. When I reached about 10, my parents got me a flip phone because 1, it had first came out and was expensive and 2, there was no reason to have one back then, other than it being a novelty. I also didn't get to sign up for facebook, because my parents didn't see the point of me having one either, I only was able to have a myspace account only to play a game called YoVille, and didn't get an account for Facebook until that game transferred over to Facebook.
your videos remind me of the good ol days when the likes of woodysgamertag, xjawz were in their prime during bo1 - I miss those times - appreciate ya man
My goal for this year was to cut down my screen time. My daily screen time at the end of last year was an average of 6 to 8 hours, most of which came from TikTok and Instagram. Now it's been at around an hour and a half. I have definitely noticed an improvement.
I definitely use my phone as a crutch sometimes. Its almost like a safety net to fall back on. I'd like to try to use my phone less too. Great video, keep up the good work!
Tik tok has destroyed kids attention span, it's sad because when we are young we have the most neuroplasticity available in our brains and we can learn and addapt the fastest, and kids are getting their brains destroyed with the brain rot social media posts, it seems that our generation 80s-2000s is the last generation that was normal.
Agreed with you on that. TikTok being the biggest culprit too. I have yet to see any other social media app that is doing more damage to today's youth than TikTok. Let's hope for that ban for those living in USA.
Cell phone battery affects friendships in a dramatic way because people are forgetful, sometimes. It doesn't mean that the other person is trying to be rude on purpose always.
Go for it dude! Everyone's gotta start somewhere. I accidentally made a video about being happy and another youtuber uploaded the same exact title as me the same day lmao as long as you have your own points and commentary. It's all good! :)

Some people say they gonna quit but be back on it by the next day lmao it’s just like cigarettes and drugs you can’t just quit cold turkey (if you can then good for you) also figure out what your gonna do when you quit, don’t just quit and play video games all day 😂 go for a run, go to the library and pick up a book, keep your room clean, etc….

You're not wrong about that 😂

Man, I feel this. Social media’s cool and all, but it really messes with how we see ourselves. Balance is definitely key.

I think most people have realized this. Social media needs more regulation.
