Back in 2005, I was in New York outside a restaurant, and the girl I was dating at the time was being a jerk, and we were arguing, while waiting for a cab. Finally the cab shows up, she got in and locked the door so I couldn't get in, and suddenly this guy walks up telling me "it's not worth it". As I turn to acknowledge the comment, the cab drove away. Then the guy told me again, it's not worth it and to find a better chick. Then the guy gave me his cab, gave the cab driver a $100, and paid for my ride home. A week later I found out that guy was Dane Cook. Thanks again Dane, if you read this.

I wonder if Kevin will fall as hard as dane did? The bigger the takeoff the harder the fall. Then again kev has that Hollywood movie success to back him.
Vicious circle still to this day is one of my favorite stand ups off all time. I remember staying at a friends house and was going to bed at like 1 and the special was turned on for more background sound. I laughed with my eyes closed the first couple of times, because I was still trying to go to sleep. After multiple times I ended up sitting up and watching the whole thing, laughing my ass off. It was one of those specials that seemed like it was meant for me, because I had never seen something so spot on with my type of humor, ADD energy and storytelling. Danes definitely changed over time and I haven’t appreciated his work nearly as much as that special. But man am I so glad I came across Dane at that time. You might be thinking “ why do you sound like a babbling brook?” But hey, with all these anti Dane comments I figured I’d share a positive story. Thanks Dane!
I've always liked Dane. The hate is a mere social media phenomenon that represents the hive-mind of the sheeple masses. Now, if his comedy isn't your cup o' tea, then that's more than valid. But, let's be honest: when a person who's desperately seeking validation sees that a hate-laced comment will procure massive amounts of attention: they're tempted to leave their own hate-laden comment. And, the whole thing just snow balls into a rinse and repeat digital replication. Then, years later (after revisiting Dane's comedy): everyone wonders why there's such a hate and disdain for Dane (pun intended). Like I already implied: comedy (and all film, music and comedy) is subjective (much like food). One person likes tacos, another doesn't. It does no good to castigate and condemn the person who dislikes tacos (thinking that THAT will somehow alter his taste buds into releasing enough dopamine and epinephrine to begin enjoying them). If they don't-------they don't. No amount of criticism and condemnation will change that. It's the same with taste in music, film and comedy. But, considering how insecure people are anymore-------considering the chronic inferiority complex of the masses: many people will publicly condemn something they actually like, *just* so they can provide themselves a dose of guaranteed societal validation and applause. Really, this issue is philosophical in nature. It's an interesting societal study that Dane is a beacon of. Anyhow, I really enjoyed your comment. I have a similar history with Dane' s comedy.
he was one of the only guys putting out great specials in an era where few others were... comedy was at a low. i remember those specials fondly. his stories were fantastic, the energy in them was very engaging. charisma at a 10. then every frat boy movie was filled with dane cooks and he became the template of douche. and then when you'd listen to him, it just seemed like there were better versions of him out there, he'd lost what made him unique, if that thing had existed in the first place? anyway, this interview was great. i really enjoyed hearing him swear he's at the top of his game now.
I have so much love for Dane Cook. He was the guy that got me interested in comedy back when I was a teenager. Comedians owe thanks to Dane for introducing a lot of people to comedy.
Wow. A great constructive comment. I couldn't agree more. As a 30 something, Chris Rock, Carlin and Dane were the comedians specials that got me into comedy.
Many comedians consider him on the lower half of the food chain when it comes to comedy. So im not sure how many need to be "thankful" of him to be introduced to comedy. He def was hit when his style was funny, but it was quick and even then he wasnt considered the best just his fans were the lousdest. Always cheered for him in my heart because he spoke openly about having a shi**y childhood, being abused/hit, and it was wonderful to see someone who’d gone through that reach big success. And I love it that even now, he brings it up, with no shame, just as easily as if someone were telling about their good childhood, which is the greatest privilege of all. People don’t choose their childhoods, but if you had a difficult one, that’s where a lot of lessons through hardship come from and it’s strange how the world doesn’t really want people speaking of it. The people who don’t want to hear it are the people who don’t want to understand how privileged they are to have a decent childhood~~most will never even try to understand. If they did, this country would be different. I’m sure I’m not the only person who knows what he’s talking about and is glad he speaks up with zero shame. Thank you, Dane

Dane Cooke was a MySpace kid who worked super hard and became super famous, his comedy was for all the kids of that time that loved his kind of humor and came to see him to laugh and feel good.
There will probably never be a comedy special that I enjoy in the way I enjoyed Vicious Circle. I rewatched it so many times, often with a large group of friends.
What an absolute down-to-earth interview. Love seeing the human side of Dane and that he seems to be doing pretty well despite some of the things that have happened to him. Really learned a lot about the comedy industry through hearing these guys talk and learned about the challenges that come with being a comedian/entertainer.
Vicious Circle was the first Dane Cook special I listened to and I thought it was hilarious. I went back and listened to all his old stuff after that. He’s always been one of my favorites.
That's fucking tough having that many rumors and negativity surround you for no reason. Dude was just funny and living life. Dane Cook's vicious circle was the first special that drew me to comedy. He's a pioneer of the modern age.
Dane Cook, and the Vicious Circle to be exact, has been at the roots of my standup love. From there it spread to countless more comedians, but he was one of the select few that awakened the hunger! Greetings from Bulgaria!
Agreed. Would LOVE to see David Spade on here. One of my all time favorites...always thinking Ryan Reynolds would be fun on some of these comedian podcasts as well, but may be reaching there but still, am loving these podcasts by many comedians out there in the world, Hahaha

It’s great to see he’s evolved into a mature comedian. Good head on his shoulders. He could’ve crashed and burned hard but he worked through it.
You mean evolved past being a human shit stain who rose to fame by stealing jokes:

Theo got the late 80’s early 90’s “Oakley’s” style shades next to his beverage and car keys.
Classic lesbian look never goes out of style.
Hahah

Theo dresses himself in the dark

You get the listening and the retention badge for the day. Good job buddy! I cant speak for everyone, but I know I'm proud.

I bought tickets to see Dane in San Francisco on March 23rd..... this just made me so excited for the show.
Joe Baker how was it?
@@spookymom2753 I wish it was longer. I could watch him for hours. He is such a good story teller. He has a way of hypnotizing his audience. I wouldn't say his jokes or material was the best or even comparable to some of his older stuff but he set the bar really high.
Great episode! Great seeing Dane Cook again!
I look forward to this over JRE now. Theo you have crept up as my favorite comedian. Thanks for being authentic. Im gonna call the hotline for the first time now to discuss some mental health topic..
brettdajett444 he’s funny on stage too which is what’s so cool. Rogan is a comedy vet but it doesn’t hit me, I relate to Theo. Sometimes we have to be honest with ourselves and admit that we have more in common with CoCo than with Joe 🤣Gang Gang!
Dane Cooke was a MySpace kid who worked super hard and became super famous, his comedy was for all the kids of that time that loved his kind of humor and came to see him to laugh and feel good.
I agree that podcasts are the talk shows of our time, their deeper, uncensored and have the personal feel. Theo is by far the best.
Theologians = fans of Theo Von...
Seth Critchfield I diggg it
Nice
I'm strictly a baby but I'll check out what Theo's doin, keep your enemies closer
Seth - elaborate
There it is
The hyper aware is so on point for creative comedic minds. It’s connected.
Shout outs to Theo's southerner-puberty beard. Still gonna need to see your ID for those swishers at the shop my guy.
Don’t know why the hell I didn’t think that Dane would still be so funny and quick witted. Seems like a genuine guy
Dane Cook and Jim Carrey working together would paint the silver screen gold
There will probably never be a comedy special that I enjoy in the way I enjoyed Vicious Circle. I rewatched it so many times, often with a large group of friends.
" I grew up with a fish that swam into an embankment" -Fish with theo's head on it
😂😂😂
What an absolute down-to-earth interview. Love seeing the human side of Dane and that he seems to be doing pretty well despite some of the things that have happened to him. Really learned a lot about the comedy industry through hearing these guys talk and learned about the challenges that come with being a comedian/entertainer.
Vicious Circle was the first Dane Cook special I listened to and I thought it was hilarious. I went back and listened to all his old stuff after that. He’s always been one of my favorites.
Dane rocking that Pauly D cut
This is one of my favorite TPW that I have watched. Love ya man
Theo with that Nightly news head turn before the intro had me dying!
That's fucking tough having that many rumors and negativity surround you for no reason. Dude was just funny and living life. Dane Cook's vicious circle was the first special that drew me to comedy. He's a pioneer of the modern age.
This was a great interview. Honesty on both ends. Never been a big fan of Danes comedy but this interview made me respect him
Gang Gang ! Great to see Dane, always loved his standup. Great Podcast !
Dane cook looks like dan akyroid in ghostbusters
I just watched this Podcast after making crispy wontons. Crazy

Zang zadan!! This should be a good one, much love and respect y'all! Onward.

They could do a mini series.
Honest to God, Dane Cook needs to do a tedtalk or a podcast his wisdom is incredible.
While they were doing this podcast, someone shit on the coats.
WwwwHAT!?!?!?!?!?
Somebody shit on, or around, the vicinity... of the coats.
Lame.
Yo. This is my favorite episode so far. You talked about real shit. Bring Dane back.
Dane Cook, and the Vicious Circle to be exact, has been at the roots of my standup love. From there it spread to countless more comedians, but he was one of the select few that awakened the hunger! Greetings from Bulgaria!
Dane Cook is amazing, great guest..
Dane Cook a real G, fight me.
Square up pussy 😂
Let's do this. Cashew me outside.
Meet him at the creek. Loser gets swallowed up by Theo and fed to the fishes...
😹 he’s dope
Old and overrated
Dane's got great microphone disciplines, his audio is always at the same level probably a very experienced man.
Nick , the producer, also probably edits the vocals
Seeing that Farley poster constantly makes me think how amazing David Spade would be on this podcast
Agreed. Would LOVE to see David Spade on here. One of my all time favorites...always thinking Ryan Reynolds would be fun on some of these comedian podcasts as well, but may be reaching there but still, am loving these podcasts by many comedians out there in the world, Hahaha
Yes we need David Spade!
“Joe Dirt meets his long lost son Podcast”
Does he have that bc out looks just like him, too? Bc it looks like a chubby Theo as much as it does Farley. Has he ever addressed this?
Drew O’Ryan hahahah exactly man! Gang
Always loved and been a fan of Dane cook ♥️. Glad he's doing so well these days.
vicious circle was the first standup show that left an impact on me. I DID MY BEST
I still love Dane Cook so much. I never gave a shit what other people said. No comedian ever made me cry laughing as much as Dane. I never listened to the same sets so many times I memorized every word.
The Campfire oh, buddy...☹️
Man I haven’t seen anything about Dane Cook in so long. He used to be one of my favorite comedians. I had no idea he was so well spoken and self aware. Makes me a bigger fan of him now. Dudes a legend no matter what anyone says.
Harmful if Swallowed was my first comedy CD, this is a top 5 pod for me. Gang Gang!
