In SOLIDWORKS 2018 I can import the equation file, but it is no longer possible to save the equations because of the wrong syntax. Is there another solution?

They basically killed this off as of SolidWorks 2015. Yes, you can somewhat replicate the functionality using macro features but I have not had time to create a blog post on this topic. I don't have any free training that teaches macro features but we have macro feature tutorials in our premium CADSharp.com membership, plus you could ask questions via technical support if you got stuck.

That part setup macro is exactly what I want. to select material when you open a part. sad this method doesn't work anymore.

Email me at keith at cadsharp dot com if you want to discuss other options. But yeah, wish they hadn't removed this functionality.

As per www.cadsharp.com/blog/equation-triggered-macros/, ETMutil will not work in SW2014 or later.

It can work in 2014, but I haven't had the time to modify the code to do so. Basically, right now ETMUtil works by suppressing the equation containing VBA code that runs the macro. However the ability to suppress equations was removed in 2014. So that means event notifications must be used to delete the equation and then re-add the equation before the model is saved.

I was just looking over the 2017 API What's New and found this line! "Get or set whether to disable an equation and get the number of disabled equations in a model." Great to see that this method is back in the code.
