Adjust the clutch up a bit. Mine was doing to snappy/soggy thing, and that helped a ton. My Stage 6 clutch, and TFC bell aren't a great match though, so that could also be part of my issue, so I guess check that out too.
28mm is probably a bit too big for a 72cc, just a 19 or 21mm carb is perfect for 72cc. Always got dellorto carbs and they were the easiest to tune and run the smoothest.
Glad you guys finally started buy8ng honda elite, was telling you for years that whole time you were messing round w/them BBK gysux, & 150cc swaps.... the af16e is the way to go!
The thing were it’s slow after you let go of the throttle and get on it again could be a too soft torque/contra spring, try swapping to a little harder one and same goes for your clutch springs it sounds in the start like it grips a little to early so try just a little bit harder ones
we do the ,, break-in" for 50-250km on aluminium cylinders it's 50km on the other ones we do 250km we start from 25km/h and go up eventually this way it lasts longer
So I'm either getting an af16 elite or a bug eye for my next build and I think you just showed me the road map. Just gotta sell my 87 elite 50, spree and 78 express

I have a delay in power from start off line, clutch tuned to move as the belt starts it's decent in the pulley but cant get a power start like that! Can Chuck come tune my scoot up 😂
I had this same build in honolulu…on an all black S. polini corsa, arrow pipe. even got it ported. used to hold wheelies everywhere, until it got stolen from the beach in under 5 minutes. Still haven’t found a funner bike to wheelie.
Dude good to see it running again i just finished my 172cc 2 stroke swapped piaggio nrg mc3 its running good and the carb problems you have is cause its a polini carb it need to be perfectly tuned to run good try out dellorto or keihen Much better

I just picked up 2001 Elite Sr 50 and my goal is to hit 80mph...what do u recommend for a good start to hit this goal? Big bore kit? Stage 6 clutch and different variator and weights? Carb? Air Intake? Exhaust?Maybe better cdi and coil as well

Wait when you said the carb is 28 did you mean 28 cm? I dont know a lot about carburetors but i do know that my buddy has a 160cc four stroke fiddy with a 26cm carb. Maybe it differs what you need depending on if its a four or a two stroke? Or maybe i just got that shit wrong idk man i have confusion

Yo I switched all my 70 builds to the polini big evo 24cp carbs and it’s been sweet! Easy tuning and good power!

automatic chokes are typically only on stock style carbs
