@@BIRMZE no worries you live you learn enjoy your trip in Colombia i have been ther myself its beautiful the people are warm the few bad apples can't never change that!!!
Totally agree mate I would highly recommend coming here I have met some of the best people ever, I wouldn't let anyone or anything ruin the trip. All the best to ya!
Myself and a friend witnessed an armed robbery on the first day of our holiday in Colombia last August. We'd just flown into Bogotá and were in a taxi to our hotel in the capital. The incident took place only 30 minutes after leaving the airport! It was 10pm and the dual-carriage way was full of cars and motorbikes. Vehicles had a stopped for the traffic lights and an SUV had stopped in front of us. A motorbike, with 2 people on it, came alongside the right-side of the SUV and unfortunately a passenger had left their window partially down. A guy on the back of the motorbike reached into the window to grab a phone. There was a tug of war and the guy on the motorbike produced a large silver pistol and stuck it through the window and yanked the phone out of the persons hand, then the thieves on the motorbike sped off. It was a very scary and upsetting incident for us and it must have been even more terrifying for the people in the SUV. After the incident, myself and my friend were both extra alert for the remainder of the 2 week holiday. That said, the majority of the Colombian people we met are very friendly and I hope it doesn't put others off visiting this beautiful country, just don't drop your guard at all times.
Sorry to hear that, yes you have to be aware of certain things but I wouldn't let it put anybody off visiting as you can have a great time here and I have met also so many great people who are friends for life here and have definitely enjoyed my time here a lot forgetting the one bad experience. All the best
Can't be walking around at night anywhere in south america mate. During the day time its fine most places as long as you avoid the sketchy areas. Glad you're alright and glad you're talking about it.
Last year, in Medellin, I walked a mile to a restaurant alone to pick up some food around 10pm (my rationale was to work off some calories before eating). I realize now I was very lucky and would definitely not risk it again. I'd still go back and visit though. The food was soo good and cheap and the landscape is stunning!
I think the girl with you was also involved in robbery and called the robbers seeing u with phone and no people around so that they can rob you. She also gave her phone to them i think so that u don’t doubt on her and she might have gotten her commision and her phone back later on. Never trust anyone.
The TransMilenio lines are very dangerous after service stops for the night. Thieves will use the empty bus lanes and bridges for a quick approach and escape. I'm sorry to hear you got mugged and I appreciate you sharing your experience ❤️
You contradict yourself "Its a great great Country but you have to be aware of surrroundings at all time" I live in a great country Canada and can walk anywhere anytime and not worry about being mugged.

Im verry happy youre still alive. It was definitely on time you got robbed. Watching your food eating videos had to stop. Serbia is waiting for you mate😅
Looks like a shitty council estate there. What's there that's good.. the birds? Why hang around somewhere that you don't feel safe unless there's security.
My wife and daughter were just robbed in Colombia... im working hard to get them back. They stole their ID and money and credit cards but NOT their phones thank god. (UPDATE: they are safe and back.)
I was able to provide my credit card information to them on one of their phones and they were able to use it get transport to airport and purchase a flight out
the problem that followed though was they had a stop over. while i was able to get them my card on their digital wallet, most of the hotels didnt accept no physical credit cards. But we ended up finding one that did after lot of a searching. They are finally home
You stay by Barrios Unidos? I guess I crossed some comments with a guy like tou on Instagram, but I guess he was American, he told me that he was attacked on a bar close to the Transmilenio station there just like you, but he said he had lived in Washington, it wasn't you, right?
@@AdventureElliot There are a lot of robbery killings and shootings in the US and UK... probably more per citizen than in most Latin American countries, the difference is that you know where or don't to go in our countries.
Fam im in Bogota right now it is Not Safe! At 8 at night do not walk around. Stay in a gated comunity and don’t trust anybody. Not a gringo tourist place at all!
Fucking hell! You seem remarkably calm? I am very proficient with firearms but I would be incredibly scared by that, those guys could have killed you by accident SO easily.
The police there do nothing, and security does less than nothing. No one is risking their lives for 8 bucks a day. I retired to Colombia and have witnessed 2 armed robberies, both times it was by guys riding small displacement motorcycles. People here have dark tints on their car windows and keep their windows up. Any local will tell you crime is a problem in the cities. Smaller towns are usually pretty safe but it's important to remember unemployment is high and many people live in poverty. Keep your phone in you're pocket unless you're in a safe area.
What is up with the mayors of Bogota and Medellin? If they were tough on crime on tourists this wouldn’t be happening. I don’t see stories like this about tourists in Thailand or Philippines or Vietnam or even Mexico.
Actually you have a lot of nasty crime happening to foreigners in Thailand. Murderers, robbery and assault. Not only they avoid to report it on the newspaper but also these newspapers are not in English or Spanish, so you simply don't know.
@@spacepapi3703 I think there are even more spots that are relatively safe. Like they say "no das papaya" and take care of the "viaje millonario" and the girls. There are a lot of bandidas. I don't live in Bogotá, I'm located in a small town north of Cali. It's even safer than my German home town. So I don't want to frighten anybody. So far, I never made a bad experience in this country. Enjoy

No, not to everyone, but a lot to people who pick up girls way out of their league and suppose that is normal. Just saying.

checking phone while walking outside drunk at 1am near bars in Bogota. Oblivious. It is not London, and still, it would be a risk there too.
