These are some of the best tennis lessons on the internet. I don't play as often as I'd like but when I do, I feel more prepared because of Intuitive Tennis.
This guy is a top coach just the right level of challenging the student but with good instructions, does he coach pro’s? Really knows his stuff and clearly very passionate about tennis and improving players. Top vid
Love your series, super helpful for 4-4.5 level. Keep them coming please. Appreciate you making tennis more accessible to passionate amateur players like me.
Thanks, coach, this is a very important subject. In theory if you get a short ball you have an advantage, but in practice it is very easy to mess it up if you don’t have proper technique.
Seriously great instruction here. There is a lot to what he said. I remember Peter Burwash in his book Total Tennis said most recreational players are out of control in the mid court. He was right, and this lesson addresses some of those things.
Great video once again. I picked up this swing at the net when I have to take a softer, low bounce. I'll try it coming in - teaching the exaggerated up swing might be easier if you start stationary fairly close to the net. Thank you!
I have been trying to figure how to deal with short balls for a while. I couldn't find and good videos about it until I found yours. Thanks a lot for explaining and showing how to deal with short balls. I will be trying this technique forts thing.
I’ve been working on this on my own. Great tutorial. One thing I realized helps is a bit of a lean toward your hitting side and getting your body out of the way.
Shamir seems like a fit player with solid strokes. It might help him to approach the short balls side on with a cross-behind step instead of running up to the ball and turning last second. Nik does it so naturally when he takes on a short ball. Nik as usual finds the best topics to make videos on!
Thank you for yet another great video! I was wondering if you would make a video explaining the same exact scenario "short - low balls" to the back hand side. Thanks again
I was wondering why I kept putting low short balls into the net, this video helped a treat (swing up on the same side of the racket - great swing thought 👍). I think this is why these videos are so insightful as Shamir clearly a good player but these are subtle tweaks (perhaps some not so subtle) that can help good club players improve
Hi Nick, i want to thank you again for your videos. They are so informative and analytic. For people who do not have natural tennis talent like me, i need to be more analytic in order to make sense why i have to do things this or that way to make the ball do this or that. thank you so much. Your videos of proper duration and your explanations so just enough to impart knowledge without too much repetitions.
Very well explained lesson. It's harder than most think to find tennis coaches who actually know how to coach and change a student player's strokes. #1-The coach should fully understand how a particular shot should be executed and then be able to analyze in what ways the student's technique is wrong, and #2- Have the ability to explain, in an understandable way, how the student can change technique and perform the shot correctly and effectively. Finding a coach with these true tennis teaching qualities and abilities (real analysis and instruction) is difficult.
Very helpful instruction, Nik. I play with folks who are adept at drop shots and/or who hit weak, short shots and while I have the quickness to get to almost everything, at least half the time I have the same results as Shameer had early on in this video - I hit it into the net.
Might be your best video Nick. Thank you for your valuable advices. I’m trying to teach my daughter and she has some great ground strokes by now. Today she played a match against a boy her age (9). He was a good player but her ground strokes were better than his, yet she still lost because of him scrambling getting her balls back over the net giving her these short balls to “just” put away, but she kept missing the “killer stroke”. It ended up wide or in the net. This gave me a lot of inspiration to teach her how to avoid that. 🙏
It is so important to practice situations that you will encounter in match play. This is why real on court coaching is important. I always tell my high school tennis players that you have to practice the way you want to play. You got to do the drills to build your skills. The footwork and tactics in this drill have to become automatic. This is like training for boxing or mixed martial arts fighting. It becomes an instinctive reaction.
Hey Nik, thanks for all your videos. Could you do some match analysis of 4.5 level? Maybe just a few games or a super tie break. I would love to see Samir playing and being analyzed by you, telling what he could do better.
Why doesnt everyone start using UTR instead of this ntrp nonsense? I know what constitutes a UTR 4 or a UTR 8 or UTR 13 but its anyone's guess who really is a 4 or 5,0..nor why it even matters
Totally agree. I suggested this with the “beat the pro” series. Why not use UTR? Would be immediately obvious who would smash the pro or get smashed. I have no idea what a 4.5 ntrp is.
It would be nice to have a video about how to hit short, low bouncing balls with a single handed backhand. I think I'll have to start jumping up with that shot, as they can go into the net easily.
I came here because I got frustrated missing short ball after short ball in matches. So true about setting up beautifully but not being able to finish. And rightfully so.. I don't practice half court at all 😅 You've motivated me to change the way I train!
Good lesson Nikola, thanks for posting it. This is a bit off topic, but you once mentioned, and showed, a "squash shot"; I believe it was in a forehand lesson with Anna. Any chance of sharing more detail? Thanks again...
Great video! My instructor teaches us that as soon as you notice a short ball, to approach with the racquet out in front (not swinging from behind like a normal forehand). Maybe if he had the racquet out in front and the did the vertical flip as described, it would be easier to learn. Since you're stopping mid swing and flicking up, taking the racquet back is unnecessary and wastes time. What you taught accomplishes the same thing, but it is hard for some people to stop mid swing, so this is an alternative method.
Just an hour after I watched the video I used the tips on when to be aggressive and when not to and I was offered ice cold water to "cool off" because I was playing so "hot". Thank you so much for all your videos.
At 6:05 he still went across his body which proves you CAN go across your body. It doesn't have to be on the same side. I always go across my body and it works. Different strokes for...
Hi! Excellent video. I wll try soon as I can. I have a problem with short high balls because I use a full western grip . Any ideas of how to handle those balls with my grip?
This was an amazing lesson. The things you mentioned in the video, I think will help me win more matches :D. By the way, should grip pressure be constant all the time in tennis?
I was taught to hit the short ball at when it comes up and reaches the highest point. For the low ball I do the buggy whip like Nadal with top spin. Similar to what he's saying basically

Shamir - absolute legend. Always asking the questions I'm having myself. Feels like I'm present at the lessons
lol he talks alot...watch 7:42 as the coach is thinking "yeah yeah no more excuses..."😉
he is a good learner
Same here, samir have followers😏
Shamir is the bomb.
it's crazy how we can witness shamir's growth through these lessons, great job man!!!
Yeah and Shamir is very willing to learn, which is key to that growth
Im jealous with how easy you explain things. Your students rarely look at you confused.
Its scripted, he dont want to look stupid on cam
Samir was pretty confused about the “same side” part🤣

those short balls are the death of me, thank you for explaining the flick shot.
So true: have a great rally and do not know how to finish the short balls.
Thank you 🙏
If Shamir creates a tennis youtube channel, I would watch it. Seems like such a nice guy.
I was thinking yesterday what was different with those balls... and now this video. Very timely for me!
Best instruction I've seen on dealing with short balls. Excellent video.
One of the toughest shot for me to make, when the ball is low. Great tips!
Thanks, coach, this is a very important subject. In theory if you get a short ball you have an advantage, but in practice it is very easy to mess it up if you don’t have proper technique.
Been working on this shot for years. I love hitting the low shot approach now.

This is the video I’ve waited for a long time! Thanks, Nik!
True that is frustrating when you dominate the baseline and fail in the middlecout shot
He must be the best tennis coach i have ever watched
I’ve been working on this on my own. Great tutorial. One thing I realized helps is a bit of a lean toward your hitting side and getting your body out of the way.
Yes leaning towards hitting side helps not only on low balls 👉 th-cam.com/video/O2Bb1JA1ajA/w-d-xo.html

Thank you so much for this video! I have a few key things I need to work on, and these two concepts are one of my biggest challenges!
Thank you for letting us participating in this great video. It sounds so easy. I will try to follow your advices.💪😉
I love these videos featuring Shamir! I want to see him play some of the folks from the Essential Tennis Universe!
Let’s go, Shamir!
I am just starting out with tennis and your channel got me even more excited about this beautiful sport.
Taking Sharapova as an example for swing volley is great. Her intensity for every point is just amazing.
God bless intuitive tennis and his family🙏
Thank you 🙏

"Dance with the ball" is very useful advice.
One of the best coaches ever...thanks for the valuable feedback 👏👌👍

I do appreciate all your lessons but let me say this was amazing. Thanks
Fantastic lesson. This will help versus the squash slicers out there! 👍
amazing. clear and simple. thank you!! 3.5 and climbing from the northeast! :)
shamir was so happy with this. great lesson. i just got back into tennis and your videos are excellent
Great to hear!
This is brilliant! I play topspin and have always had trouble against low sliced short balls ... cant wait to test it out in real life !

Been looking for how to handle these shots for so long!
Love the lesson and coach-player interactions💯🎾
I play some guys who just bunt the ball off my power shots and they land right in the service box. This will help lots!!! Thanks!
Your explanations are fantastic. What a great instructor you are!

Great insights on this video. As always. Thanks, Nik.
Awesome lesson!!! I needed that and I teach younger players now so I can pass this on. Thanks a lot !!!!
This is what I was struggling playing with 3 and 3.5 😮 good video and lesson
I love Shamir. Such a good Dude. Excellent video!!

Hopstep and Transfer step are two of my favorite lessons to teach to players that are ready to handle this type of lesson
This channel is really one of the best for Tennis : great job guys. Shamir you're a great fan of RF cloths ;-)
Amazing sir .. you are an angel for me .. my game is improving a lot because of your tips
😇
Luv it once again Nikola! Just starting my kids with some fundamentals and learning a lot from your videos including myself! 👍👍
Totally worked and helped my game. You are a great teacher.
Great video Nick! Now I need to go practice!
Very good advise along the lesson. Thanks so much.
🙌🙏
I was never able to keep short balls inside other court. Thanks to this lesson, now I know why.
The pro active vs re active comments were an unexpected nugget from this one. Thanks :)
Nikola, do you have a video on how to put away a somewhat week serve? The serve that you can hit 2-3 feet inside the base line.
Thank you.
I’ll cover that topic
@@IntuitiveTennis Thank you for your reply.
Shamir, you're wrecking the ball!

Thank you so much for showing this video.
The Federer "hop" is a great image for a short ball that is below the level of the net....
Love your videos! Would enjoy seeing a game between you and Shamir.
Great instructions. Thanks for sharing guys
My points of interest:
2:07 - Don't try to kill low balls
2:16 - Hop topspin on low ball
4:31 - Swing path demonstration

Great video as always.
Shamir and his feeds man, hahah thanks for this
In old days I was taught by tennis magazine coach to hit ball at apex, because that's when ball is not moving so it's easiest to hit it.
thanks for this video coach!!!
Thank you for the advices!
I'm not English man ,that why I didn't understand many things,
