Hi John...Glad to hear from you and thanks for dropping by and commenting. Feel free to stop again. Looking forward to your next visit here on my channel.
Great video Vic. I am 77 and have 4 Gottlieb EM's that I am restoring. You have a fabulous collection. If you could do a couple of videos on the actual restoration process that would be great. Thanks.
I come from Montreal and the first pinball joint that I went to at 10 years old how to wall painted queen all along side the wall and I didn’t know who they were. The pinball dialect to play was called paragon so that’s the one I like the most.I’m not a collector I just like to look at your videos thanks
Thanks Vic! I started collecting pins during the Covid boom, so I'm still pretty new to the hobby. I started with a flurry of new Stern machines, but when an old friend of mine gave me a broken Flying Carpet (which I promptly fixed, with some help from TH-cam), I quickly figured out that I enjoy the EM machines just as much as the new stuff--and maybe even more! True pinball like I remembered it from the machine I played as a kid at Maynard's Gas Station in Ashland, Ohio. Now I have a nice line-up of Gottlieb 3" flipper wedge heads (Jacks Open, Flying Carpet, Sky Jump, Abracadabra, and Atlantis). Better yet--I have them in an office unit near my work, and a bunch of people from my office enjoy playing them several times a week! All but one machine was non-functional when I found them, and I have repaired them to excellent functioning. I have a few multi-player EM games also, but there's something about those single-player machines we really enjoy. Typically 4 or 5 of us run through a game each on all the wedge heads, and note our scores on a dry-erase whiteboard on the wall. The best score for each machine get the circle, and the player with the most circles is the winner for the day! It's kind of neat to think that these machines, which are now all around 50 years old, are still providing regular enjoyment for my group. Your videos have been inspiring--hope you keep posting them for many years to come!
Wow! What a sensational story and glad to hear you love the EM's too. Your comments are inspiring to me also and give a me lift and a want to make more videos for the channel knowing that there are people like you with such a strong love & passion for these vintage EM pinball machines. By the way, you have some of the top sought after Gottlieb wedge heads which are really great player games. It's so good to hear you are getting lots of other people to see and play your games in an office unit. Hopefully these people want to own an EM for their home or some other location. I hope you sent them a link to this channel for them to view on their downtime. I can't wait to hear form you again. Thanks and stop by anytime!
Hello Vic, I love hearing your history.I have several pins ,only one e/m, a Target Pool. It is my favorite, the older the better.I am going to have to look at the bingo machines closer and maybe get one.Keep up the good work!Happy Holidays! Steve in Maryland.p.s. Love hearing the stories thanks
Hi Steve, I also have a Gottlieb 1969 Target Pool in my collection at the present time and love the game play on that wedge head. I had 3 other Target Pools through the years, but the one i have now is in amazing original condition. Target Pool was my go to game on the boardwalk in Seaside Hts NJ because i would always some how beat the machines for some replays, since it was such a player friendly game. If you any help with getting a Bingo Pinball Machines, I'm your guy. There really is a lot of information on these wonderful machines. Go here to get some quick knowledge about the Bally Bingo Pinball Machines on my you tube channel, I have quite a few Bingo videos. th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=vic+camp+pinball+bingo+pinball Steve is a pleasure meeting you and thanks for commenting. Drop by again soon and let us know what your thoughts are on the Bingos.
Vic. Love hearing your stories, let's hear them all! In order! (maybe keep em 10-15 minutes per story episode) So how did you get those kids to play at your house? Ever had a bad customer? haha. Did that establishment mind you moving customers out? haha. Eventually, I'd like to hear an episode on "What's your favorite year for pinball and why? 1969?"
It was automatic getting the kids that were totally addicted to pinball to come and play my 1963 Gottlieb Sweet Hearts. Once our gang of friends started talking about that I had a pinball machine in my basement that was a nickel a play and 5 plays for a quarter and was a short walk away, the rest was history. The candy store owner never said anything to me, so i didn't know if they knew or not about my Sweet Hearts in my basement. It seemed like to me the candy store didn't lose any money with their machines and don't forget this was a very busy candy store that pulled in lots of coin from the jukebox and pinballs that seemed to being always operating. My favorite year for pinball video sounds good. Thanks for the request and for all your comments. Looking forward from hearing from you again.
Vic, I'm relatively new to pinball, quite new to your channel too. Thank you for your introduction, I'd love to hear all the stories, the longer the videos the better. I have a few games in my small collection, I'm 48 years old and wish I'd found pinball a long time ago. I have a 1990 Bally Gameshow, a Gottlieb Tee'd Off and a 1980 Williams Firepower. I tend to gravitate towards the older games more often than the new ones. When I attended UK Pinfest earlier this year I had so much fun on the older Zaccaria pinball machines I just couldn't walk past them without playing. I'm looking forward to playing more EM's as I get more consumed in the hobby and it's interesting you know just how amazing the older games are when you see them being played by the younger folks in the tournament scene. There's a charm to the older games and they tend to come down to raw skill and chance. The newer stuff is great don't get me wrong but I think for me, I like the shorter, harder games with simple rules. I'm looking forward to your videos and hearing all the stories of your journey through the hobby over the years. Thank you, from Tony over in England. All the best.
Hi Tony...Thanks for sharing your story in detail with all of the EM pinball machine lovers on this channel. We need to here from more people like yourself that are younger and are interested in the older electro-mechanical games to help keep the EM games alive and well into the future. I'm so glad to hear about you getting into pinball. It's never to late to start a collection since pinball is a lifetime hobby, at least for me. I've been hearing from more people from other countries which is fantastic and hope it helps grow this EM pinball machine channel. I wish you all the best on your journey building a pinball collection of machines and more important falling in love with the this great hobby and becoming passionate and knowledgeable to help you succeed into the future. If you have any questions or anything else pertaining to the pinball hobby just let me know. Hope to hear from you again.
I'm 71 and grew up in the era of EM's. I don't really have any interest in solid state machines. The sounds of coils hitting, the relays, the switches, the chimes....that's all music to me. It don't get much better than that.
Love your videos. I too have loved pinball since a child of 8. I own a Crosstown, a Surfer and a Happy Clown. Me, being an artist, maybe you could do a video ( unless I missed it ) on the ART of pinball. Different artists, up close detail, groovy cabinet art. Explain how new EM machines were made to look used and worn with the webbing and splotching techniques.
Hi Chris....I have touch lightly on the subjects of artwork on the cabinet, back glass, playfields and electro-mechanical unit design, but not in detail. I do hope to make some videos on these subject in the future. Thanks so much for the suggestions and the kind words about my videos. Feel free to stop by again to add comments, questions or more suggestions etc.
I've been getting so many more comments lately, especially about wanting to have more talking about pinball. Thanks for sharing your comments and please drop back in again anytime. Lets keep the EM games alive and well into the future.
Hey Vic, I think your videos are great and would really like to spend some time with you and learn about the games. I'm retiring next month and really want to get knee deep into games and restorations. Keep up the great work.......Mike
It's great you're interested in getting more involved in pinball, Mike! Maybe you can stop by my place soon. Thanks for the commenting. Feel free to comment or ask questions on any of my other video.
My dad used to take me to the local bowling alley and they used to have 8 bingo machines lined up, nashville, light a lane, wallstreet, tahiti among others but our favorite was dixieland. One night my father dropped me and my friend off on a friday night and I hit number 6 on the dixieland 6th card with the double double and won $60.00.
I guessing the time period must have been in the late 1970's or 1980's when you were at this bowling alley since Bally manufactured the Dixieland 6 card bingo in the year of 1978. Dixieland was a 11 coin max game (a cost of $2.75) which was a quarter to play. If the player dropped 11 quarters into one 5 ball game the largest CASH payout of 5 in a line on the 6th card with the magic number, on double double card and pressing the double (D) button on the double or nothing flash feature would give the player a win of 2400 replays, which would equal a CASH winning of $600. It's really nice to hear from people that have had the experience of playing Bingo Pinball Machines on route back in the day and actually won so money playing them Thank you so much for sharing your bingo story and commenting about it. Stop by again and comment on other Bingo Pinball videos already load on my channel.
