I understand why some people don't like AJFA, but to me, it's one of the best-sounding albums ever made. It's unique, crunchy, and dark... nothing sounds like it. This version really does capture that. Nice work.
@@bobabooey4537 Do you mean why some have an issue with AJFA, or if I have an issue with people not liking AJFA? If the latter, there's no issue... people can like whatever they like. If the former, the controversies around the production of AJFA are well-documented. Hence this video.
@@bobabooey4537 Uum-the inaudible bass. The dry production. The scooped mids of the rhythm guitars (a guitar tone which Hetfield had developed a distaste for). I like the album and its mixing (minus the turned down bass), but I absolutely understand the issues with the sound.
AJFA is their most complex album, James vocals are at their peak, Lars drumming is the best, the song are groovy and mean, and that tone is brutal, it’s their best work
I like that. Iconic sound indeed. Epic. The riff to Harvester of Sorrow literally makes me feel I am in a corn field with a scary scarecrow. To live is to die has such a great build up to a release that brings shivers. Justice is a tough album for Metallica, or any band, to beat.
This sounds like it was a song stripped straight from AJFA. I know others have said this before, but this proves that Metallica has not lost their talent! The harmony just sounds amazing with this tone. I already loved it but it sounds even better.
the reason it sounds like it's from AJFA is because this guy modifies the drums, solos, structure and sometimes even riffs to make it sound more like AJFA. Metallica hasn't lost their all talent, just most of it.
@@ARandomInternetUser08 Yea metallica have definitely lost more and more talent as time progresses. Its not the songs but their skill level i feel like got worse. James now does alternate picking instead of downpicks in some shows where he’s singing and playing.
@@bob_b9349 well I don't see that. You're asking a near-60-year-old to continue downpicking 100% of the time? That's just not possible anymore. He's still downpicking most of the time and is and will remain the downpicking king in my eyes.
It's not necessarily about the production (although call me crazy i love the AJFA guitar tone) but the arrangement of the music and the subtle nuances of this era. People keep saying Metallica has lost it, well, these re-imaginings kinda prove they havent. Their approach to making music has just changed over time. Also, if Metallica were to try something like this, be inspired by how they made music in the past, they would still get shit by haters for just copying what they did before.
@@BatFan1 that’s reasonable. I agree…a lot of their music is written in a very similar way than it always has been but the studio and production can drastically change the feel of it. I love the AJFA sound as well, but no band is going to ever duplicate their classic sound in present day. It’s a lost cause.
I like this, but something about the mix seems off. It seems a bit empty, for lack of a better word. Drums could use a bit of reverb, and the bass guitar could use a boost (I know justice isn't exactly known for bass, but it didn't entirely lack it :P). The guitars also seem a bit thin, but I'm not sure. This isn't to detract from the rest of your work of course, because you have the songwriting down! I like the direction you've taken it in, and I see serious potential here.
@@puppetmaster86Sounda way better than most recreations man, that drum sound is pretty much spot on compared to most. Like god damn dude, this sounds pretty much just as good if not better than most of State of Mercury’s recreations. Probably my favorite version of this song to
They were at the top of their game in some ways. James' vocals were peak and he sounded angrier than previous albums. Probably had a lot to do with Cliff's death but they were really focused on AJFA. It also was kind of the next level of Thrash in terms of production at the time, even though people's complaints are valid. It just sounded more modern even though I prefer MoP in a lot of ways. Also nostalgia plays a big factor, many of us first heard Metallica when One became a hit and then we had to go listen to their previous records.

But the guitar tone is the most insane one they ever had tbh😅 , add bass to it and you have perfection imo.

All this version needs now is the Hetfield '89 voice AI and it's perfect!

They way it should have sounded. Well done!!
i think it just needs a toiny amount of bass, feels like i'm on helium without the bass
Proof the production on AJFA was great even if it wasn't "perfect" like modern production.
AJFA production is epic thanks to Lars.

I think the black album has the best production.

Good point, that is because metal should be raw and heavy, not extremely polished. This is metal, not pop.

Better than on oryginal. AJFA is my favorite album of Metallica and all metal.

Too complex for kill em all, also those harmonies are straight from AJFA
