    Thanks for taking us along. The Susquehannock Trail also connects to the Donut Hole Trail heading East which connects to the Quehanna Trail. Sinnemahoning to Crossfork is an interesting hike with lots of up and downs.

      Thanks! I remember seeing the donut hole signs on the STS. That would be a really awesome hike connecting all of those trails. I’ll check it out.

      It is a great area. The BFT and the STS are close by as well. Lots of trails on that general area.

    Great Intro footage Dan! Nice change up and well done! You are a natural for providing us with solid information about how you go about these long backpacking trails. Thanks for all the effort you put into this video!

    Great first day. Nice that they have a shuttle service. That is always a logistical mess for a few long trails here in Utah. Those temps are great! I hope you don't get wet in the storm. That could get miserable. Nice that you got some gear to try out. Hopefully it performs well for you. Have a great day.

      I’m not a fan of point to point trails because of needing to figure out transportation. The shuttle thy offer is handy though and so far they have been very reliable. Perfect temps for a trip.

    Lookin good out there Dan! Seemed like you were able to do decent miles despite being tired. Hopefully you got a good rest in the new hammock, they set you up! Looking forward to part 2!

    Thanks for the video. Ive ordered one of these hammocks, it looks great. Although you can’t vent the insulation, you can lay the otherway (head left, feet right) to reduce the amount of insulation underneath, then swap back over when it cools down.

    • @backpackingadventures4813
      @backpackingadventures4813  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! It is a very comfortable hammock and it makes it a little easier. I did realize that later on about switching directions. I’m so used to laying the same way and setting up my hammock, like my pillow and etc. that don’t think of it.

    Just got back on an overnighter to test the Dutchware Gear Quilted chameleon. They gave me a Lele hammock just like yours. But I slept pretty good in it. Looking forward to seeing what you thought when you woke up the next morning. Great video Dan .

      Thanks Ron! I always wanted this type of hammock. Laying to my right side wasn’t too bad at all. I found myself reaching out the zipper to adjust my underquilt. Habit lol.

      Did you camp at the area near the picnic tables or do you go to the camp sites just past there on the overlook? I camped at that overlook before and it was a really great place to camp.

    Great shots and video as always. That's cool you were sent the hammock to try. I like the spreader bar option. Looks like a nice alternative to the Superior Gear hammocks. Interesting how it's cut. I still haven't figured out which side I prefer to lay but I mostly end up head-right feet-left.

    • @backpackingadventures4813
      @backpackingadventures4813  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks Rod! It’s really nice. I like how it’s shaped with the underquilt only under where you lay. It does limit how which side you can lay in it but it reduces the bulk. And if you lay on one side mostly the other material is just a waste and unused weight to carry around. I don’t have any issues laying head right. I’m usually a left layer.

      @rodoutdoors 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@backpackingadventures4813 I guess you can switch sides if you want to cool down your head and feet 😅 Looks great though. Nice option when it's not hot.

      @backpackingadventures4813  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks! So far I’m liking the hammock. Only drawback is you can’t vent it. But if you do we one in the cold weather that won’t be an issue. But it was very easy without having to fiddle with a separate underquilt.

      Just one more question. I was hoping to see your 2nd part video before this hammock release, maybe this upcoming week!??? Do you think the temp rating was accurate? They are not going to offer overfill at this point. I emailed them. Thanks very much if you reply

    • @backpackingadventures4813
      @backpackingadventures4813  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@1asphaltcowboy Part 2 comes out tomorrow morning. I talk about the hammock first on. I will be doing a dedicated video for the hammock after I use it a few more times in different conditions. As far as the temp rating, they state it is comfort which is good. However, this night it was in the high 40s - low 50s so it wasn’t pushed to the limit.

    You can actually get all the way down to the Quehenna trail from there… that hammock looks sweet but as you mentioned some down falls when it’s hot …. Why are you tired a wore out …. Lmao it’s like they tell me being over 50 you’re not a spring chicken anymore…🤣🤣🤣

      Hiking 18 miles after getting a couple hours sleep tires me out in my elevated years. 😉 I know the West Rim, Black Forest, and Susquehannock trails are connected to make a big loop but I don’t know the quehanna is accessible that way. What is it connected to?
