Arosa is a ski resort located in the Canton of Graubünden aka Grison in Eastern Switzerland. since 2014, the built of Urden aerial tramway connects Arosa with Lenzerheide and valbella, and by that extends the contiguous ski area of Arosa from only 70km to a total of 225km of connected ski runs. The creation of the new arosa lenzerheide ski area made it one of the largest in switzelrland.
    In this video
We will show you the most important things you need to know before booking a vacation in Arosa.
there are 3 airports proximate to the ski resort. The major Airport is Zurich, located at a distance of 173 km and takes almost 2 hours 10 minutes to reach the Arosa by road. The second Airport is Friedrichshafen, Germany, which is 153 km away from the ski resort and at and driving time of 2 hours 7 minutes. The closest airport is St Gallen which is 117 km from Arosa and the driving time is about 1 hour 37 minutes
if you are flying to Zurich airport, it is recommended to take the train from the terminal with changes in Zurich central station and chur, with amazing views in less than 3 hours directly to Weisshorn cable car in downtown Arosa.
Arosa Lenzerheide has 225 kilometers of ski slopes and 43 lifts that make it the largest contiguous ski area in Graubünden.
ski season at Arosa Lenzerheide is from late November to mid-April.
elevations of slopes are between 1,229 and 2,865 m.
at the height of 174O meters, the town of Arosa receive about 7 meters of snowfall per year making it the snowiest town in Switzerland!
The well-maintained ski slopes of the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area is divided between 12% black, 39% red, and 49% blue runs.
The 6-day ski pass prices are 354€ for adults, 300€ for 18-26 yo, 219€ for 13-17 yo, and 98€ for 5-13 yo.
The ski area has 225 km ski slopes and 43 lifts, and is situated between the elevations of 1,229 and 2,865 m.The well-maintained ski slopes of the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area is divided between 12% black, 39% red, and 49% blue runs.
the ski area of Arosa itself is an eastern facing bowl. From the north side it is dominated by the 2653 meters Weisshorn peak, the highest point in the Arosa area. On the top of it you have 360° panoramic view restaurant where you can see the city of Chur. From here you can take run 10, the longest in the ski area which begins in a north side, outer rim of the bowl and then turn south to the middle of the ski area.
on the southern side of the bowl is Hornli peak where you can find good off-piste at late season because it is the most shadowed area.
here, of course, is the connection to Lenzerheida, Valbela and parpan.
most of the ski area between this 2 peaks is a lot of cruising reds and blue with good chairlifts.
Among the 43 lifts in the ski resort, the Hörnli Express and the Urden cable car are the most important ones. You can also find 11.5 km sledding runs here for winter sports.
Bound the bowl in the middle east part of the ski area is Tchuggen mountain
Which is a kind of a hub of the area and where you can find the largest snowpark in all of Arosa- Lenzeheida area.
Here are the most important lifts to know:
if you stay at the lake area,
the weisshorn system that will lift you, all the way to weisshorn peak.
Tchuggen east chairlift that will take to the top of Tchuggen mountain, the snow park and a 5 minutes run to Hornli express lift.
If you stay at inner arosa,
inner arosa - Tchuggen gondola, which is the ski school meeting point, and will take you to top of Tchuggen mountain.
Hornli express gondola, that will take you to Hornli peak and Urden cable car.
last and not list is ofcourse Urden cable car, that stretched more than a mile over the Urden valley
and connect Arosa to Urdenfurggli peak and lenzerheide, valbela and parpan ski resorts. You can ski directly from Urden cable car to these 3 villages, and also to Churwalden which is connected as well and is the lowst altitude of tha ski area.
later in the video I will give you important tip regarding the Urden cable car
Arosa nestled around a lake, that become a big natural ice-skating rink in most of the winter. The lake and town center altitude is 1740 meter.
The south side of Arosa extends west, and south of the Tchuggen mountain
into inner Arosa while climbing to elevation of more than 1850 meters at the western end. Inner Arosa is located the closest to the connection to valbela and Lenzerheide .
Like most swiss resorts, Arosa is rich with traditional winter sports.
you can ice skate on the frozen lake.
there are 6 km of sledges runs in Arosa,
you can find here almost 40km of cross-country ski trails,
    and many walking trails.
The two most recommended Après-ski bars at Arosa are KuhBar on Tschuggen peak and overtime, in downtown near the lake.
Thanks to Arosa tourist office for the lovely drone clips!
Thanks FATMAP.COM for the use of their maps!

Would like to add that one of the most amazing features of Arosa is that it is not in a typical valley like most alpine villages, it is instead engulfed by mountains on all sides. Which is not only very pretty, but also means it almost never gets windy.

I discovered your channel today and I am actually binge-watching all the playlists. Truly awesome videos and the amount of work you put into the explanations and details are incredible. I would only suggest including more details on the costs of lifts or drinks in bars in other videos like you did in this one, to compare with similar places in the same country or around the area. Other than that, keep up with the great work!

There is such high potential in this channel. Your videos are great and helpful, nevertheless if I can suggest sth I would standardize the titles of the videos as well as thumbnails. They should entertain or even force to click the video! Last thumbnails with yellow highlighted text is a good idea, but new videos made a step back with white boring text. Regarding to the previous videos and their titles, for example "Arosa-Lenzerheide Ski Resort Review" or "Mayrhofen Ski Resort Review" would be more meaningful than "Mayrhofen" itself. This is the best channel regarding to skiing so far, wish you all the best.

      @SkiResortsVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi Gilles,
7.5 for freeriders is not low. regarding the 7 for the advances skiers, well... Arosa itself is a bit small and the connection to the other side is a bit limited, and Arosa is not located in the center of the extended area. and there are not to many challenging slopes there,
but after saying that maybe 7 was a bit harsh.

I've been to Arosa in 2020 and didn't quite like it. Especially the Lenzerheide area is full of ancient, slow, low-capacity lifts, and it feels like you're constantly trudging along on boring, narrow cat-tracks from one lift to another. Also, I got caught by the Urdenbahn's wind sensitivity, got stuck in Lenzerheide and had to take a two-hour bus and train ride back to Arosa on my last day, sort of ruining the overall impression.

"Chur" is not pronounced that way at all 🙈 (you said something like "tshur"; if you ask people for the way, they will be very confused :)). It’s more like "Kuur". Alternatively, you can do the Swiss "ch" which I have no idea how to describe it in normal letters (and I couldn’t pronounce it correctly, either, as a German).

I tried AI, and there I had to type with mistakes for it to pronounce good. even if we succeed, some British lad will lough about it, because they have their way to pronounce. we will try to get better at this I promise. I hope I won't need to make the voice-over myself.🙏

what i find funny is that they always recommend to train in europe but most of the time it's more expensive and takes just as long as renting a car. If you can drive manual it's 50% of the price of the train tops.
As someone who moved to france, I was shocked by how bad the train pricing around within my country and around europe. Train system is a joke and a scam. Especially with all the carbon tax on flights trying to deter people from flying.
Example: if i were to fly into zurich. Train to arosa it's 100euro/person round trip for a 2.5h train (omio/trainline) vs It's a 2h drive, more flexibility, and 120euro to rent an automatic car fitting up to 4 people with ski equpiment (expedia) or 60 euro for a manual car. TDLR: for manual car drivers, 3 people = 80% savings versus train. In reality, this would pay for your weekend skipass and you will be there earlier.
EDIT: should have said training in central europe and Scandinavia is a joke.

    • @SkiResortsVideo
      @SkiResortsVideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I generally agree. but the road to Arosa can be quite challenging in mid winter. good chance of the hassle of putting snow chains because of the high snow precipitation. The views is also better
generally, for people who comes for a ski week, usually from 3 people and up, it is more economic to rent a car(including gas, tolls and parking)
