There's plenty of better and tastier fishes in the Fresh River waters.
Please don't eat away the Mahseers , they are the true treasure of North Eastern Rivers , many Rivers which once had plenty and happy numbers of Masheers today have no single Mahseer left because of fishing and eating activities of people , if this practice continues then that day isn't very far when most of the rivers will have no Masheers left.
They aren't just called the fish of the God's for no reason they are a very special speices which are important to conserve and save.
Please I request everyone to understand and release them with respect when they are caught in lines and nets instead of eating them.
Mahseers have the power to boost the economy of small villages and create jobs and businesses and change the lives of people living near the rivers because where they are found tourist and mahseer lovers flock just to see this majestic fishes once in their lifetime and with that comes opportunities which wouldn't be possible without the Mahseers.
So please understand the importance and value of these majestic Tigers of Rivers.

My suggestion to Use lip gripper and plier to remove hook, once i was holding like you the same size of chocolate masheer and got my finger hooked in fish hook when the fish started battling. Take care
