No not forgiven. Once SMT gets the "special" treatment that the Persona series for YEARS has gotten. "Follow the Money" yet they have an established series they do nothing WITH. Waiting for my HD remaster of SMT games. Waiting for various spinoffs to come to Switch, (all the way back yes).
Persona 5 and Royal didn't get the day one worldwide treatment

People forget how important this game is. It was literally one of the first Nintendo Switch games announced and one of the big 3rd party titles Nintendo wanted to use to show how serious they wanted the Switch to succeed. So it was painful when we got no new information after for almost three and a half years aside from one teaser

Oh man, this is what I was waiting for for literally YEARS, this direct made my day. The Nocturne remaster was an amazing icing on the cake because that's one if my favorite games EVER.

EDIT: just to clarify, the like to dislike ratio was around 6k likes to 1k dislikes when the video was first posted which is why I originally made this comment, since it was a pretty decent amount, but it seems the likes have overthrown the dislikes now by a large margin now that a couple of hours went by now

It also sucks that both SMT games' announcements are being attacked just because its affiliated with Nintendo Direct and people want news about Smash, etc. It is sad since I feel these games are worth taking a look for JRPG fans.

Yeah I think they wanted to announce it as soon as they could, but didn't want to do it outside of an event of some sort in order to bring in more eyes. So they scratched together some other stuff they had on deck to go with it, but spent half the run time talking about SMT itself. Which is fine with me. Getting some more Cadence of Hyrule stuff is a nice bonus.

Especially when you consider there’s already two perfectly good readily available Persona 5 games already out, and a third one coming soon with P5S, one of which (the original) can currently be purchased for the cost of a pizza.
I played persona 5 on ps3 and it was good and all but I’m much more interested in SMT since I’ve always wanted to play one of these games.

It seems the toxic/entitled side of the Nintendo fanbase is going around disliking everything in the direct because they didn't get BOTW2 release date, their favourite character in Smash and every "leaked"/rumored game ever in a 3rd party mini direct during the pandemic.
Maybe they should cut their teeth on Pokémon before rushing into SMT and getting pancaked, most of Pokémon is easy enough to shove over by mindlessly pounding on it like in a lot of games, but for those who want to play with some semblance of strategy, stat buffs are basically win buttons.

If you're a disappointed pokemon fan give this series a try.
It's has the collection aspect of Pokemon but with actual challenge and a more engaging story line.

Keeys that’s what I was thinking , I love Pokémon and been meaning to get into Persona but I see this is much more bloodborne-sequel with the gods and what not , seems like my cup of tea just don’t know which one to start with
@@jacobmedina9011 I'd recommend SMT IV. It's probably the most new player friendly. In my opinion it has the best combat cycle and allows for great demon customization in terms of skills.
Give it a go if you can get a copy.
If you want to try out Persona, persona 5 is a nice start if you have a ps4. You can get Persona 4 off of steam on PC.
If you want to go the free route you can get a PSP emulator on your phone which lets you play Persona 1, 2, and 3

Not only a phrase that every SMT Fan wanted to hear for almost 30 years, but, the phrase that all these people hating on the Direct, should take as personal. People, Lucifer said it, its already dead, there's no need to dislike anything. The Direct Mini was probably made just around these 2 titles (SMT V and Nocturne HD).
Remember: Shin Megami Tensei spawned Persona, Pokémon, Digimon and many others. Not the other way around.
It was Dragon quest not this. And Pokémon was more inspired by ultra man than SMT.

@@RinZDR I would say both of them had a role. Dragon Quest sure inspired RPG as a whole, since its the Grandfather of al of 'em. Pokémon...In fact is pretty inspired by Ultraman, but, the approach of Monster Raising and companions found its rise into Megami Tensei back then in Nintendo.
Also, Digimon is HEAVILY inspired in SMT. Lucemon is straight the half-demon and half-angel illustration of Louis Cypher from SMT II.
Do not forget that history and the world as a whole doesn't have one unique source of inspiration.
Megami Tensei and Dragon Quest are just one year apart, probably developed around the same time. Saying that Dragon Quest that is a more...Final Fantasy looking approach, inspired Monster Raising and not "This" is just stepping on the legacy of a franchise that is nothing more than Legendary.
I love Dragon Quest, and it had its legacies too, its a fantastic franchise. But do not favor one, and dismiss the another.
(And the inspiration of Ultraman in pokémon, was more specificaly the Pokeballs and some Gen 1 and 2 mons. Not every bit of the game.)
Pokemon's concept dates back to 1990
though DQV inspired it more

Best direct ever!! I've spent thousands of hours on SMT and I'm super happy to finally get a Switch release. Nintendo fans tend to be a jealous (often evangelical) lot and only want certain titles on the Switch.

I've only played catherine p5 &p4(the og versions) and loved them. Ive also been very interested in Smt and the lore for about a year now and bought 3&4 recently. I really look forward to smt 5 and hope in the future smt and persona 1-2 get the same treatment

Samuel H since you ask there’s imagery of self sacrifice, the apocalypse and pacts with demons. Mortals making deals with the devil. I’m not religious but themes like that have always made me uncomfortable but I enjoy them.

Honetly, it is likely for a SMT character to be on smash. Nintendo doesn't have that many franchises to pull from anymore without disappointing fans. I mean not a lot of people want to spend 5 dollars for ANOTHER Pokemon. The mario series is pretty well covered and animal crossing really only has like 1 character. I can see another metroid being placed in though. Personally, smt wouldnt be that weird since they are actually comming to the switch now and they are decently popular.

You seem to be quite into smt so let me ask you: do i need to play the smt games in order or may i just play smt 5 and then maybe the Others if i liked them. I really like persona and would really like to know its origin but im a bit scared of the old games bcs they sound quite difficult in the Reviews...the 80hour grind in p3 took almost my soul so it would be nice to start with a newer and maybe not so grindy/broken game.
As a person who's only played persona, this and nocturne will be my first in the series. I can't wait
The battle mechanics are the same. Exploiting an enemy's weakness gives you another shot but the same also applies to you.
If you like persona, this will feel familiar to you.
If you've played persona you'll pick up quick

Still here watching the trailer a week after that direct, and I can say for sure, that it was honestly the best thing about this year for me, after everything that has happened. The amount of time we all have waited for an update, it just made me scream in sheer excitement the moment I saw the trailer.. alongside Nocturnes remaster? I'm so damn excited for 2021. It's a shame how angry fanboys were, but that won't ever change the excitement that direct brought.
