Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

The best way to start the day is with a dog that is excited to see you!!!
Well said
Hey Zach, I work for Minnehan Metal Works, where you got your Mud Ox kit. I'll let Anthony know about that extra shield that caused you to have a bolt that was too short. Thanks for getting another kit from us! I hope you don't have to use it, but if you do, you'll be glad to have it on!
Hi - My father was a cow farmer before and a little while after I was born. He passed away on Friday. You’ve mentioned a bunch of times that organization of farmers helping farmers. I’d like to donate in my father’s memory. Please give me the information so I can proceed. Thank you.
Farming must have agreed with him. He would have been 99 on the 20th of this month. Thank you !!
1:33 - Dude! You shouldn't be crawling underneath that thing when you're so drunk your vision's all blurry 🤣
"If it ain't tight, it ain't right." Yall take that as far as you want but it is a life lesson, through all of life.
Love how farmers always support small business and how small business sees and fills many of the farmer’s needs. Merica!!!
Thanks Zack for the show and tell and for always entertaining us with your time for your dogs ( from Canada )
What a tremendous idea. I remember a few combines inhe 60’s through 89’s having the back axles yanked off. Yes I am really old and been off the farm since the 70’s but I love these podcasts!
Had a guy stretch the frame on his combine!!
I knew Mavis and Wes when they were just getting going on skid plates. He had an old milk machine for his vacuum on his CNC machine. They were both great people. I was selling them the Poly(UHMW) to be technical.
Just watching you installing 100 bolts and nuts and it reminded me off the days before impact guns. A day of twisting a ratchet handle doesn’t seem like something I wish to go back to
We are so spoiled down here in Indiana don’t have the rock issues near as bad and don’t have many things getting stuck unless your on muck ground, love the channel for being an over comer
i remember once many videos ago you were under the combine putting on a mud ox kit after eating a turkey burger
Hey Zak, I really appreciate your content. Your humor is awesome
Thank you!
Looked like a heavy commute to work this morning. Awesome video
I like it when Mae west comes over. He films with his family, and isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty when working....
May Wes
“ I got to get rid of this hoodie because it’s not as warm out here as I thought it would be” 😂😂😂
My grandson asked -- where is his safety glasses; GOOD Question grandson!
The folks at May-Wes are really easy to work with. Great video Zak. Stay safe.
Becky...missed a golden opportunity to add the fart from last time he did that MudOx kit. "Now that was a duck!!!" Come on, Becky!!!
The combine won’t get stuck unless Jim is driving it!
I have never seen anyone wrench in a shackle bolt before. I was always told, finger tight only then attach the wire to keep the bolt from backing out. Learn something different every day.
Finger tight only if you are going to remove it say on a stuck vehicle where you will be removing it when the vehicle is unstuck. In this case they stay on the machine full time.
Amazing video. Thank you guys so much
Beats pulling the rear axel off the combine. Seen it done twice.
Better call farmers insurance. Seen it. Covered it. Lol
May west great job and Zach great job on thecables if your stuck in mud Zach and Becky great video thank you
Best farming channel on TH-cam by miles
Just because you installed it you won’t ever need it 🤣
Been watching your channel for a couple of years now Zac, always quality content . I miss the half an hour videos though hahaha! Big love from across the ditch in aus
Almost 58K views & only 9K likes 😑. These folks are pressed for time like no other occupation & take time out of their HECTIC day to make us content and you're to busy to hit the thumbs up! Y'all disappoint me because this is some of the best family content on TH-cam ❤
love the videos, been a fan since covid. Excited for harvest this year 😄
Mr Millennial........ZAC, I find when INSTALLING nuts, bolts etc., ALWAYS smear GREASE over the THREADS. 1. Prevents rust. 2. Keeps out moisture and dust. 3. Much easier to undo/remove. Give it a try. Cheers JP
I would imagine that Zach knows this little trick, but the actor that plays the "Millennial Farmer" is just that an actor. The director is not doing their job!
😎😎😎😎
Bury it in the mud? Jim is going to be running the combine?
Lmao "Wholly Buckets" 😂😂😂😂
Buy installing the two cables on the combine, you have now decreased your probability of getting it stuck to less than 5% every single season. Without them, it's 90%.
Thanks for another great video. Most interesting.
Like that cable system you are putting on the newest combine. Not super hard to install and really nice to have in case the combine gets stuck in a wet spot. Good idea to have that Zach. Nice job.
MayWest sure makes good items for the farmers. Those skid plates they put on stock stoppers is a really good idea. Protects the steel plate and puts pressure on the stock to bend it over. Good idea.
Getting the combine ready for harvest. Harvest time not far away and then will be ready to go. Yeah.
About it I guess. Thanks for everything. Take care and be safe.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Millennial Farmer, awesome video dude
That's actually a shackle. A shackle is used for rigging cables or chains. A clevis is different. The end of the tongue on a wagon has a U-shaped clevis that attaches to the drawbar on the tractor with a clevis pin.
I always call them that to
Coming from a heavy duty equipment perspective, at least in New England and the upper Northeast, I too learned that those were shackles… you say Tom-may-toe, I say Ta-matto kinda thing I guess?
Really enjoy watching your channel, I’m not farmer but find it very interesting how a family farm is run. Watching from Madoc Ontario Canada witch is about two hours northeast of Toronto Canada. Wife and I rode through your state on our way to Winslow Arizona must say we never seen so much corn and soybeans in our life. Our hats off to you guys and all the hard work you do. Cheers again love your channel
Neat trick to tighten the cables. Let jim harvest with it. It will get stuck, then pulling it out you tighten the clamps… done!
Thanks 👍 Zak one of my favourite channel apart from PX farming family UK running class combines 4 of them James has sence of humour allso best of luck 🤞 harvest time bat least we can watch smart TV mobile phone ect
Hi Zach I from Ontario Canada love watching your video here we are very close to be in full harvest
Just in case you need to pull on those cables some other time where you are alone, could you use the winch on the Ranger? :)
Love seeing the step-by-step process! Even with the hiccups, it's great to watch how you tackle these challenges and make it work.😘😘😘
In case you get stuck? Havent your script writers given you an andvance copy of the coming epsiodes for this season?😂
Good job Anna and Digg. Nice to see you doing your own stunts unlike someone else.
Zack, did you ever think about revercing the tires so you won't get stuck as deep and can then shut down the combine and use all the horshpower to back out. Even do the rear tires.
My dad did that on his combine and it really worked.
We always put Teflon tape on our clevis bolt to keep them from rattling loose
Thanks for push'n thru Zack, somedays just making it to the end is a victory.
5:50 I’m surprised they don’t give you bolt type shackles instead of having to mouse (pit the wire in and tie off) the pin type. Bolt type shackles have a cotter pin that keeps the nut from backing off the pin.
Hope all goes well for you the rest of season. Peace
A litte mechanic tip for you .
When tightening nuts on bolts, put your ratchet or impact wrench on the nut when ever possible. You get a better tight .
Clevis...shackle....same thing. Only difference is a shackle is for heavy duty applications. The plural form of the word "clevis" is "clevises". Forming plural nouns can be difficult. To form the plural form of the word, you'll base it on the last letter or last two letters of the singular word form.
Seeing Anna do her German Shepherd “thing” makes me recall and reminisce about my GSDs Zak, Felix & Oscar and Macy…👍🏻🙏🥲
Stiff neck is up there making anyone grumpy, but for me it’s wet socks. Ever since I was in the army I hate to get wet socks.
I'm excited for what harvest videos comes. Hope you have a great one.
You know my dog talks to me like that all the time. It’s like they are talking back to ya. Those stalk stompers are a good thing. Tires are not cheap
We are grateful for you taking the pain in your butt to bring us Millennial Farmer... :-)
Zach its good to see you getting the harvester ready for Jims return. Who knows how many times those cables will get used 😂
You don't Want lightweight, you want it to Last. Lightweight is for mountain climbing equipment you have to carry up the side of a hill with you. And even then it can't be TOO light or it breaks and kills you. 8:21
I think Anna knows its getting to combine season. I bet she can smell the corn.
We have to ask the millennial farmer movie writer and director to make a scene of the combine being stuck 😂
Well, it is nice to be prepared for getting stuck in the field. Good video. Keep it up.
I learned the hard way about towing things. I was unaware there was a tow hook, a very heavy threaded rod with a big heavy eye on the end that screwed into the frame of the car. The tow truck driver just hooked on somewhere under the car, winched it on and we took off, There was a loud bang and I figured it was just some slack in the cable. a few miles later, I look back and see a puddle of oil on the bed of the truck. The oil pan cracked and that was that. Had a good fight with the tow company. I did not realize I did not have the tow hook. I do now. Always to have a way to tow responsibly
That's a good thing that every tractor and combine needs a tow cable Incase if you get stuck and tomorrow my birthday
Zach great job on having your actor act likes he's putting on that kit.....made it look real
Great video. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.
Clevises as in "Buses" is correct. We usually refer to these connectors as "D-Shackle" which is not correct because "Clevises" are made to manage far greater loads than D-Shackles.
The finger snap method was offline today for that towing kit?
I woulda figured that was your go-to solution for such things...?
😁
Looks like the harvester needs to be Brody😉 (Larson Farms) clean, at least Zak works the equipment correctly!
Always fun...
Took me 3 days at work/home but finally caught back up from May 2023. I’ve missed out on a lot it seems 😂
In some of your videos, you do a simply safe infomercial. I like your simply safe videos better than the TV commercials. You supply a more informative and user satisfaction video with some giggles too.
Ah, the song of her people.
🤣🤣🤣 that was a funny video
That Never happens!! 😊 1:49 Mud Happens, Deal with it. 2:15 😢
I figure Mrs millennial is looking for another 1/2 " as well 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You should buy a 16 row corn head, corn harvest would be next level
We had a 16 row for years only didnt fit with the 36 row planter even with gps you always had an odd row at times. We found an 18 row now works fine.
Thank you for sharing your life with us. J.Au-en
That's the norm Zach. Never get done what you expect to. Always gives you something to start with tomorrow 😂
Zak the hydro massage bed is a must have
Interrupt, interrupt, Interrupt-upt-upt... Sometimes it just seems as it that is what you do. But, interrupts must be processed, else things suddenly go very wrong.
Zach - wasnt shown but did Mae West add any type of compound to the stompers to help minimize the rusting of the steel plates. Looks like they were already starting to rust so might have been a good step to take??
Not that it matters but ideally you wire the Clevis pin, or anything, to where your safety pulls the hardware tight nit loose.
You can’t use my name in your title without paying me royalties!!
Hope the neck gets better and tomorrow is MUCH better. Of course I'm not a machinist but to me it seems like the rear plate, if put in a too soft situation , is going to increase the chances of getting stuck even more. Being that its a substantial horizontal plate to grab mud and then also when you're trying to pull it out its going to be holding onto the mud. I can see where the strong plates would give something to grab onto, but the way its designed seems to add a harder situation.
The rear of the combine rarely gets buried. A vast majority of the weight is on the front axle. The rear bracket is just there to keep the cables pulling from center, which is the safest way to pull it out.
You would think as much combines cost they would come ready to be pulled out when stuck
Not gonna lie my butt puckered when you stuck your finger in the nut to remove it from the socket. Seen several photos of guys that accidentally hit the trigger on the impact and threaded the nut onto their finger.
Hey man, would it be possible to get a full tour of your farm sometime? By the way keep the good work up!
Tighten and loosen the nut, not the bolt. Always.
I remember the video where you mounted the thingamagiggor to the 9870.
You farted. Loudly. 😅
Just don't give everyone pink eye again 😂😂
You need to work out more like the cornstar and less huffing and puffing
Your dog's very nice❤❤❤
Almost like you need to be everywhere all at once, but yet get stuff accomplished. Need some interns or something to follow behind and complete projects that were start, but yet still get it on video.
Your silly looking to the May West workers😂😂😂😂
Zack we call those round headed bolts here in Oklahoma plow bolts!
Im going to take this hoodie off because its not as warm out here as I was thinking.
I only wear hoodies when its warm out too.
That’s cool two TH-cam videos being shot at the same time that is efficient 😂🎉
I wonder what those poly plates will do for fuel economy. Considering lower friction... it might add up.
I can't believe you didn't clean the cobwebs of the corn heard before filming. Millennials....
When we getting another off the husk podcast? I miss those!!
Hundred percent zak love the video
Ask your doctor if "Clevisis" is right for you.... 😂
😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Not a clevis. Shackle and Pin. And not a Cable. Wire rope. Just a little fyi.
Thanks for the show guys 🍻
