Hi, greetings, I have 4 sets of IR transmitters & receivers on my vacuum robot out of which 2 transmitters have gone bad (2 of them are not emitting the light when I watched the video recording as the light was not visible to bare eyes, the other 2 can be seen glowing once in a while in the video recording). How to determine if the IR transmitter has gone bad or if there is something wrong on the mother board. If I want to replace only the IR transmitters, how to find out what specification transmitters are used on the device originally. Thanks in advance for your help. I could share photos or videos, but I guess I cannot do that here.

How may I know the wavelength of the diode the ir .... and is the diode used in the remote control it's wavelength longer than the user with the surveillance cameras or the opposite and thanks.

Why you need to check it?
Usually the wavelength is between 800-900 nm!

what are the parameters of the diodes!? does it matter what wavelength they are? mainly two types are sold 850nm/940nm does it matter what they are put on.

I want to add a battery and micro switch to an LED emitter or a bunch of connected emitters. where can I learn how to do this

You can using 3V to power of IR LED.
(+) of power connect to Switch. Other port from switch to LED.
(-) of power connect to another port of LED.

Why won’t a multimeter read a good IR led because of limited range or resistance?
On continuity certain multimeter are less sensitive.
    Thank you.

Yes, basically infrared led is not the same as normal led (especially with signal receiver led - Black color).

It's a diode so the meter needs to be on diode test to show the forward biasing voltage

Isn't the Cathode the long leg on the receiver led?

    • @GoldScrew

IR led same other (diot) led
      * cathode (-) is short leg
      * anode (+) is long leg
