I have driven the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) from San Diego in the south, through California, Oregon and Washington to the Canadian border 3 times round trip. It takes me about 3 weeks and is truly breathtakingly beautiful.

surprised the North Coast 500 was never mentioned a 500 mile stretch of road running around the Scottish highlands, with some real breath taking scenery

Just a note. The Cabot Trail is beautiful any time of the year but during the FAL when much of the forests are deciduous the colours are spectacular.

An road schould blend in the landscape and offer nice views and not dominate the landscape. One of the best examples are Going ro the Sun Rod in GNP and Applecross Road in Scotland.

I agree that the Alaska Highway should be included, but also a short stretch of the coast highway just north of Florence, Oregon, USA. It's known as "20 Miracle Miles". Thank you for sharing this with us.

As of February 2023, the highest road in the world is Chisumle-Demchok road at Umling La Pass, which has been constructed at a height of 19,000 feet in Ladakh.
Being from Nova Scotia I would have to agree with the absolute beauty of the Cabot Trail but feel it should be way higher in the list , still a great video
I'm headed there this Summer. I cannot wait to experience the Cabot Trail.
I've been on the PCH a few times. A bit difficult to take in the scenery, when you're driving. Steep drop-offs and towering mountains above. I've only been as far as San Francisco,to the north, though.
Should totally give it a shot, but if you come here to europe friend you can visit the Transfăgărășan road, the best one

I worked in Big Sur for a month and a half repairing the Pfeiffer falls trail, that got damaged from a fire. Lost count of how many times we went across the Bixby bridge to work on that project. I also done trail work in Yosemite worked on portions of the JMT, and a good chunk of the trails in southern end of the park. Tioga road in Yosemite aka highway 120 is far more stunning then the coastal highway. I'm really surprised that it wasn't on the list. Also for the coastal highway, there's always construction going on. The glacier polished granite blending in the sparkling highway from the granite they used on some segments of the highway makes it blind in with the surrounding granite. Along with the clear blue water passing by Tenaya lake. Also many so many trail heads that take you to some of the most remarkable areas in the High Sierras. Some leading into Inyo national forest like Mono pass with breathtaking views of Mono lake out in the distance.

Roads are very amazing and important ways on our world, near of my home have been raod meagproject last three years and now its ready, it looks more beautiful road now than before. PS all mountain and sea roads are AMAZING. I dont Have a Car But i like highways. 🔥

Yeah, PCH is the easy no. 1, there's nothing like it. Rocky Mtn N.P. and Olympic N.P. are some legendary drives too that could've made the list

California doesn't have any "warm water beaches". The ocean water temperature is cold even off of San Diego in August.
Okay I agree with number 1. PCH. How ever, it needs to include 101 through Oregon as well. No wait. Maybe not. I changed my mind. That’s a bad idea. DON’T include Oregon. You’ll hate it. 😂😂😂

Seen the the number 1 placed road done by travelers who have done great touring roads from around the world, it's rather mediocre just like the Great Ocean road in Australia. There's plenty of other great touring roads around the world that are truly more spectacular scenery diverse, culturally rich and best taken the slow way to experience the best they have to offer.

Hwy 99 goes down to junction I-5 in Sacramento…can’t enjoy these roads if you’re driving and listening to screaming from your passengers

You wrong at nr 6, Top Gear said to Transfagarasanu road in Romania, not that and I really dissapoitment not including in this list
And off course have ro put an USA road in the top place 😅😅😅
These roads where there is no other building, travellers should take along extra gasoline, two spare tyres, snacks or cook food along with water and juices.
As to the Pakistan/China road. Apparently, the Pakistanis drive on the left. Do the Chinese also, or do drivers have to switch when they reach the other country?
