The first one is good the other 2 are bad. Its got a good story and the acting is good. You do know this movie was made i believe in the 80s. They didn't have the hollywood editing that we have today.

First gen. lazer guns or any energy based weapons(if it ever happens) will probably be huge, but when the technology evolves, they will be more concealable. Doesnt seem practical to me to run around a battlefield with a 90lb weapon.
Mini 14 on top with a Ithica 37 on the bottom. However, in the seen when the infantry are showing the kids the rifle, they are holding .308 or 7.62 NATO in their hands so if someone wanted to make this rifle, you would have to put a M1A or M14 over a 12 gauge shotgun.
From the movie, Morita Mk.1 supposedly using 7.62x51mm round. But for the film productions, they use Mini-14 because it's reliability when using blank rounds. In other words, in the fiction world, it use 7.62x51mm. In the real world, it use 5.56x45mm.
CypherVirus agreed that the last one is ugly but think about this. the military isn't US anymore, they aren't going to use out dated weapons, considering this is close to 500+ years in the future. and it just wouldn't fit the movie if EVERY SINGLE SOLDIER in the movie was holding an AK-47, even if the Morita is a shitty weapon made shittier by the poorly trained MI soldiers.
+Jake Fernus Hunter (Boundedsumo) The Morita isn't a shitty weapon per se,it's just ill suited for its job. I think that was the point Verhoeven was trying to make,which isn't a new point.
People realize that the Starship Troopers was made with the intention of being cheesy, right? Watch the Down In Front Commentary. One of the guys in that worked on the movie, offers some great insights.
Who ever wrote the script doesn't know about weapons terms but you could get away with saying one is Marine and the other is Navy. Kind of like how colt put out of the Colt Army and Colt Navy (as example.)
i liked starship troopers, but at the sametime i was disappointed. as a avid Robert.A.Hienlien i had first read it at 13 yrs old, and read several (thats a understatement) times again since then. i found the movie lacking in several areas. as Mr Hienlien had predicted when asked why he hadnt let any of his novels be made into movies after his experience on the set of Rocketship Galilano.
Last one was ugliest ... but best against bugs, because of the grenade launcher part. Explosives always killed multiple bugs in one shot while rifle itself was depending on skill ... resulting in the most movie deaths xD
