Hello! I love this sort of video wrapping up or ranking books read during the year. I am new to reading as of this January because I discovered Book Tube by accident. I joined BOTM and have nearly given every book 5 stars including five that you shared. It may be because I am new to reading that I rated books so highly; so I will be interested to see what my experience will be next year. I am putting The Fury on my TBR list because of this review. Thank you so much for sharing. Elizabeth
I tend to stay away from new releases because I've been burned so many times, lol. Recently I've started "All the Colors of the Dark" by Chris Whitaker because the hype got to me, lol, but so far it's only OK. "First Lie Wins" is on my library holds, so whenever I get that, maybe I'll enjoy it as much as you did :)
I like to wait and see what the consensus is on new releases. In my mind there are so many good books of the past-even recent past-that I will never get to all of them! That being said I dnf’d The Familiar ha. I guess I went against my own advice. But really enjoyed The Women and Just for the Summer! Happy Thanksgiving!
I haven't read too many 2024 releases, but of the ones I have, my top reads were All The Colors of the Dark, Lion Women of Tehran, And So I Roar, The Fury, and The Mistletoe Mystery (a cute quick Christmas novella with Molly the Maid, who I know you like!).
I like to be part of the current conversation on books, but I also have noticed I don’t like as many new releases. The fury was one of my favorite books this year though.
I am interested in new releases in general.Firstly I read the synopsis and If it seems interesting,I buy it or listen to it From the books mentioned,I have read One perfect couple and The Fury.In fact Ruth Ware and Alex Michaelides are among my favorite writers.
📚 I feel like every time I read a new release that has a lot of hype around it I’m disappointed. ☹️ I think I build them up in my head so much that they never live up to expectations.
I do read new releases but I like to wait until there are a decent number of reviews on Goodreads to vet them. Unless it’s an author I have loved and then I will read the books sooner. A lot of times I’ll read books from the previous year.
I loved Murder Road, No One Can Know, First Lie Wins, and One Perfect Couple! I hated Middle of the Night and The Fury, although I liked the author's previous books!
About 10% of my reads this year have been published in 2024. My favorites have been First Lie Wins, Just for the Summer, Evocation, Darker by Four, Heartless Hunter, and some sequels in loved series.
Thanks for the recommendations! I also dislike reading teen characters in romance fantasy, they are often rewritten in such a trope-y manner. I couldn’t enjoy fourth wing because of this reason.
I like to see what is being released but I only read books that look interesting to me. The genre, and synopsis are how I make most of my book decisions. I figure, if I am spending money on books then I want to make sure I am reading something that I want to read and not that I have to force myself to read. I am lucky though, I am a fast reader.

That is a smart way to do it!!

I just picked up the Molly novella from the library - thanks for the reminder!!

Maybe it was just this year!

The hype really doesn’t help!!

I love reading all the differing opinions on the 2024 new releases!!

Glad I’m not the only one!!
I do not always but them when they are released or I do and take ages to read them.
I read 99% library books so I don’t usually read new releases. I haven’t read any of these 😊
Makes sense!
First lie wins was amazing 🎉
Loved The Women ❤

I also did not love The Familiar. I really like a good amount of Leigh’s earlier work, so not done with her yet.
Same!!
Ahhh, I HATED First Lie Wins lol
Haha 🤣
