      Hi mate I'm glad you enjoy the videos it's a nice river to fish and living in Shermanbury it's very local to the river hope you join a club I think you'd enjoy fishing this river as long as you remember some parts are tidal

    Well done on another fishing adventure Alan, were there any tench bubbles at any time? think with the lift method you would have been better with just one reasonable sized shot 2 to 3inches at the most from the hook otherwise the fish feels the weight and drops the bait before you strike, keep the videos coming very entertaining .

      Thanks Frederick, your absolutely right I thought about it afterwards I should have used a lead shot rather than the Olivette it did occur to me later in the session in fact I think I did mention it in the video that I was a bit concerned that any fish picking up the bait would feel the weight of the Olivette and instantly drop it so next time I will use a shot instead but you learn all the time.As for Tench bubbles I didn't see any at all throughout the session so maybe they just weren't in my swim.Glad you enjoyed the video mate.

      Hi Alan forgot to say in my previous message, the first time I saw the lift method being used was by an old guy fishing the stretch of the Adur that goes up to clappers from Mock bridge about 60 years old when I was 12 he let me sit and watch him catch bream after bream he had shot about 2 inches from the hook and was fishing with bread. Take care. Happy days!!

      Magic stuff Frederick thanks for telling me that I find that fascinating all those years ago catching bream on the lift method I know the stretch you mean it looks really good up there and I'll be giving it a go there myself later in the year i bet you learn a lot from watching those anglers from those days. One thing I would love to see and that is if there are any records of fish being caught on the adur from all those years ago I wonder whether Henfield Angling Society hold any records that go back to that time I would find that really interesting thanks Frederick👍

    Hi Alan, you may not have vau6any tench but you have had a few good rudd and roach, a good day in my book..

      Hi David, I agree mate I think worms are underated as a bait I must admit it's only recently that I've started using them more often and they sometimes get you a fish when everything else fails I was pleased to catch that nice roach and the Rudd even though there were no signs of any Tench feeding maybe next time.

    Hi Alan my Mum Dad and I joined Henfied and District angling club in about 1963 we use to travel up to fish on the 117 bus from pool valley in Brighton took about 40 mins if we missed the bus home it was another 1 hour wait, it was always just 1 more cast from me of course and we did miss the bus on occasions, my mum was a keen angler but my Dad not so much they only joined because I have always loved fishing, I used to tackle my rod up in my bedroom and make out I was fishing off my bed, a only child of course so had to amuse myself I had a wonderful childhood tho. Take care. Tight lines.

    Nice one Alan, do you use Scotties at Southwick Square for your worms, maggots and casters? I took a common of around 3lb or so on a ledgered lump of Dendrobaena worm along towards the little weir in the field opposite the car park around two weeks ago! One bite that took about 3 hours, but what's the rush mate? fishing is fishing, better than watching the telly 'eh?

    • @intercity735
      @intercity735  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@snerper Hi mate, Yes I get all my bait from Scotties I'm lucky he's just 10 mins away from where I live otherwise it would be either Prime Angling Worthing or Lagoon bait and tackle in Hove. That's a nice fish from the river I agree mate doesn't matter how long it takes to get them in there's no rush. I'm out again this weekend though it's going to be very hot so not sure how it's going to fish good luck when you get out fishing again 👍

    Looked like perfect conditions. As other have said single shot 2 to 3 inches at most from the hook otherwise you will not get lifts only sailaways, any other lifts will be small fish dashing in a taking the bait off the bottom to midwater to avoid their chums. if the float lifts the bait should be in the fish's mouth, timing is everything.
    Maggots may have attracted Eels so good call, well done on the keepnet, you have them on film! Looks like you left a long tag when you tied the hook?
    We went to St Georges for two hours on the 30th mid morning and my 7yr old grandaughter had a 2lb plus Bream, so it was definitely Breamy weather!

      Hi Ray, yep next time single shot you learn all the time at this game which I enjoy I didn't see any sign of Tench no sign of any feeding of course it doesn't mean they weren't there but I still enjoyed the session. A big well done to your granddaughter on the bream it's good to see youngsters interested in fishing I'm out again next week👍

    Enjoyable video once again, as others mentioned when fishing the lift method use only a single shot, AAA. Is what I use about 4” from hook, the fish needs to get the bait into it’s mouth before feeling the shot any closer you may get the fish spitting out the bait.
    Also it looked like you had the olivett the wrong way round, the fat end should be lower than the slimmer end (like a bomb) as it is more aerodynamic and less likely to tangle on longest casts.

    • @intercity735
      @intercity735  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you Graham yes next I'll use a shot it did actually occur to me once I was fishing that the fish could feel the weight of the Olivette then let go or spit the bait out, I watched a few videos prior to the this and some were using an Olivette as a prevention for line damage but as I said on my video you can set the shot up on a separate piece of line just like when you link leger for chub thanks for the tips mate👍

    Another good video Alan, as there is no or little flow on the lock I always fish much closer to myself than you appear to so I can loose feed the corn easily, had several Bream now from the lock but no Tench only had them at the fork . Work party at the upper lock yesterday cleared lots of swims up to the trees
