Your starting to relaxe more as you read the script, and thats awesome. It makes it so much more enjoyable as well as easier to understand your speach patterns. I also like that you have finally dimmed down that bare lightbulb behind you. It was a lot less distracting.
I think this one is among your best videos, Karl. Really loved it! And I can tell that "Welcomed with open triangles" was your first read of that sentence due to how off-guard it took you lol. Really funny reaction. XD Fascinating subject, I never knew about that city. I love learning about Antiquity and Classical era stuff. :D
Most Americans were forced to take Physical Education during school, which means almost every single one of them spent multiple classes running track round a football field. For some reason, that's just the way school stadiums are set up, but it does mean most americans are familiar with the length of a football field and therefor understand it as a unit of measure.
Connecticut is approximately 3.218 million acres, or about 2.438 million football fields. That is USA Football. If you want Soccer fields, which is also called Football just about everywhere else, that would be 1.788 million football/soccer fields.
"I'm not a public speaker by trade" says the guy whose LITERAL job is speaking in public on these videos... WTAF? If it means anything, though, I've liked you and your presentation style since day one and think you should be upgraded from "Interim Host" to "The Guy". IMHO...
There is a difference between public speaking’, (speaking live to an audience in front of you) and recording something to be played to a large audience.
I decided to look it up because I don't know how big a Football pitch is compared to a Football field. Turns out that they are nearly the same. So if you can imagine a football pitch, you can just substitute that for an American football field. Bonus fact: The Canadian football field is larger than American.
Olympic swimming pools are used for volume as football fields are for area. Unless you have experience with the "yardstick" used it's hard to grasp scale. ✌️🤠
They've been found in multiple cultures from ancient times. It was a symbol of auspiciousness and good luck for most of the Western world until the 1930s From wiki: The word swastika is derived from the Sanskrit root swasti, which is composed of su 'good, well' and asti 'is; it is; there is'.[30] The word swasti occurs frequently in the Vedas as well as in classical literature, meaning 'health, luck, success, prosperity', and it was commonly used as a greeting
It's so simple. Connecticut is 1,936 football fields wide. A football field is 91.44 meters. Or you can use the much easier imperial system, where a football field is a nice round 100 yards.
Like whats up simon mo offense bro but i watch your channels for u man. I already stopped watching toptenz and ive watched all your channels for a long time. But gonna lose fans on your channels. Should twll people if your leaving or coming back. No offense to the new guy but he is hard to understand.
If you watch Top Tenz, you should know why Simon isn't the host there, here and in Biographics. Like, you've already been told he left. What more do you need?

I thought cruel and unusual punishments were banned under the constitution 😂
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Did he mean a soccer field?
Well I guess every nation has their kids run track, right? The rest does it round soccer pitches😅
Itchy nutsack 😡
I get it, the people of Sybaris were basically gentrification gone mad lol. I think Croton's response was overkill though 😆
You're doing an amazing job karl! Keep going 😊😊😊❤❤❤
FYI for the where is Simon people. He now has a new geography channel called Places.
Great video as always karl ! You're a great public speaker 😊😊😊😊😊
"With open triangles" got me. Good job, scriptwriter.
8:17 😂 open triangles took me a moment but I got it 😂.
Great video. The first time I have seen a video of this period. However, please show maps longer on screen.
The Crotonions where cubed and put into soup 😂

Karl is very humble.

3:44 'Cuz it's 100 yards? Right?
I am glad I made you laugh Karl, but I am afraid I am not nearly as talented as Radu 😊!
Greece, Super Greece, Greece 64, Country Cube... Rome? Rome U? Xiphos? I tried to follow the Nintendo pattern...
Note: the first democracy in Greece was Athen (in 507 bc). Thurioi became a democracy, but later on around 443 bc. Not during the 500 cent.
The image shown in the thumbnail is that of Paestum (Poseidonia) daughter city of Sybaris
Shoutout to Calabria! 🎉❤

Thank you.
Fun fact: "magna Grecia" in Italian sounds like "eat Greece".
american here: i have no fucking idea how large a football field is. and i do cheerleading for football
19:22… what are those swastikas?

When Greece returns the things they stole in this period then maybe the Elgin Marbles can be discussed.
"Greece" wasnt a country.
Right after England returns everything, ie never lol
So, when will you announce that you are our full-time host?? 🙂🇨🇦
It's so simple.
Connecticut is 1,936 football fields wide.
A football field is 91.44 meters. Or you can use the much easier imperial system, where a football field is a nice round 100 yards.
Connecticut is measured in Jerry Springer
But yes, a football field is used to give a sense of scale here.
FOR ROMA
Well an American football field is 100 yards, close to 100 meters I believe 🤔
Connecticut is measured in snooty upturned noses.
And money.
And private beaches.
Football field is 300 yards, so despite a yard and a meter being different id go ahead and say a bit under 300 meters.
How much more interimism is there? Isn't Simon rested, tan, and ready to get back to full time work? What the heck am I paying you for Mr. Whistler?
Simon left. Not resting. He left. Seems he has not been replaced yet. Hence Carl is interim. Maybe full time.
Why no Longer Simon? This guy is good also but nothing compared to Simon.
Agreed. Really wish Simon would return. Don't really care for Karls delivery.
Simon has decided to leave. He's not coming back.

As this was never Simon's channel (he was hired to do the announcing) and he's not coming back...
First :)
