Tamolitch Falls Blue Pool, Willamette National Forest, Oregon - May 2024

Blue Pool has to be seen to be believed - it is surreal and mesmerizing. The hike to the pool is amazingly beautiful with lava, old-growth trees, flowering trees (lots of dogwood) and McKenzie River views. The McKenzie River upstream was buried by an ancient lava flow, and resurfaces at the pool, cold and filtered by the porous lava, creating the pristine turquoise color. The water is amazing clear, and deeper than its looks. The downstream river seems much too large to be sourced from this tranquil little pool! Best to time a visit mid-day with lots of overhead sunshine to light up the pool!

Thanks! I definitely recommend. I had mountain biked there before, but never come in on the hiker-only trail - the trail is really beautiful too!
