I just setup a 50g LowBoy to my 500g system a couple of months ago. I am using the Auto Aqua AWC system to do water changes with the main system. It has it's own sump just in case and having a separate tank adds more work in dosing and water parameter maintenance. You can check out my 6 tank 500g system.

Would be easier to add onto the stand on the right side or put a stand over the sump and plumb a line stright down to sump

I think the question is if you will miss that bench space to work on right next to your tank? - I like the other suggestion below - add a new tank and open stand between the bench and the sump and plumb it directly in (you can just get a new pump as that may be easier). Although that space may make your access to the sump a tiny bit easier now I don't think it will be much of a hassle and you will keep that important space right next to the frag tanks to work on.
Also I would just get it custom made to exactly fit the dimensions there - doesn't have to be an expensive custom - just a cheap one and you will be much happier - you can even run LEDs over that tank and sell those frags as encrusted under LEDs (which I think you said you wanted to try.
Anyhow I hope this helps. I think my aesthetic comments on the new display will be more helpful than these as I'm better at that side than the working side but I know this is a business for you and I think you will really be much happier working if you have the space next to the tank to do so.

Thanks, I do have another bench across from the other one but the space is not as big so losing that bigger bench is not ideal.

Looking at your setup, the only major undertaking will be sliding down your current frag tank to open up space for the new one. I see no reason why T'ng off that inflow line from above wouldn't work. Same for the return line. You will definitely lose some flow, but not too much since the height will be about the same. It's definitely beneficial to hook up to your existing system because you won't need to go through the cycling and initial set up process.

Yes, the PIA will be moving the other frag tank but once that is done it should be an efficient use of space and equipment.

I think without restricting the drain water level in the new drain and both existing and new overflow boxes are at the same level they will be ok. The return idea from above will work as well but may need a gate to dial in the appropriate flow.

Yep, that is what I was thinking. Thanks for the input.

Something to keep in mind is how much water drains back into your sump during power outages. I have two low boys and a 45 wide deep blue all plumbed together and it almost maxes my sump.

Yep, I will have to take that into account when the new frag tank is plumbed in. Thx.

I would just extend the stand to the right looks like u have room between the stand and the sump instead empty and move the existing frag tank though.

I did think about that but I have my electrical outlets just to the right of that bench.

I wouldn't have them connected cuz if something goes wrong in one then it goes wrong in all. You gotta have back up corals just in case.

Yep, good point. But my hope is to have another display and another frag tank separate from my other system so we shall see.

Fishofhex uses those lowboys and he isn’t happy with them - he breaks them very often. They are not well made. I think you should look at another option.

Interesting, I thought he was giving them the thumbs up since he had done several videos on them.

I second that. The silicone on mine is super thin. I'm gonna have to re seal mine soon.
