      Give that main lick a few days time! Once the muscle memory takes over for the main lick the rest of the songs really falls into place.
      Take it real slow. You know they say playing fast is just playing slow but faster!

    Ha! I started figuring this out on my own, slowly and sloppily, just before you posted this video. Unsatisfied with my own work, I decided to search again, and there you were sharing your video just weeks later. This has tightened up a few of my loose ends!! Thanks for your work and for sharing!

      Finally got to see them play it live in the UK (Nottingham). In a tiny venue, right up close. What a show. ☺️

    Great video, I only seem to be able to strum any wood brothers song so would love to see a tutorial on picking like Oliver Wood. Thanks for this video, I will certainly try it.

    Thank you so much for this, mate! Been listening this song for a while and haven't got the guts to try playing it until now. Some finger picking detailing would be much apreciated, but eventually you can get something quite similar by ear. Cheers!

    Excellent tutorial. I learned this song to a point that I played it out a few times, but now I realize that I was doing a few things incorrectly. May be hard to unlearn some of it. One thing that I am pretty sure is off is the part where he sings "how he sings his blues so well", you have it as an F#m shape (I think). I went and looked at a few Wood Brothers videos of the song and I think OW is just doing an A shape. I do it as A7 shape. It might be something else but I am pretty sure it is either A or A7 shape.

    Hey Joe, really like the video. Could you do a more in depth one that shows the finger picking more clearly? I just started learning guitar but I’m trying this song as a challenge.

  • @briphivo
    @briphivo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes sir! Please go into depth on the fingerpicking... I've been playing the song for years with strumming and I need to learn that picking pattern! Well done!

  • @EclecticApproach5

    I was just listening closely to the pre chorus and I think the F#min7 might be a F#7. I might be wrong...

    • @JoeKenneally
      @JoeKenneally  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had this debate over the years! I play it as an F#m7, but I think it sounds great as an F#7 as well (and you could very well be right). My view would be to play whatever makes you happiest

  • @sliderrider88
    @sliderrider88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    F#7 (dominant not minor)
